The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 123

Chapter 123: Her past

Daniel soon came out of the bathroom. His hair was wet, making him look absolutely breathtaking. Anya could not help staring.

“Instead of just looking, how about touching?” Daniel asked, and Anya looked away.

Room service brought their meal.

As Anya sat down to eat, Daniel couldn’t help but notice the frown that seemed permanently etched on her face.

He watched her for a moment, contemplating whether to pry further into her mood or to let her be. But his curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to ask her what was bothering her.

“Why do you keep frowning?” Daniel inquired, his voice laced with concern.

Anya looked up from her phone, her expression guarded. “I have a class reunion tomorrow,” she replied tersely.

Daniel raised an eyebrow, sensing there was more to her response than met the eye. want to go?” he asked.

“Do you

Anya snorted, a hint of bitterness in her tone. “No,” she said flatly. “I’m not close to any of them. I don’t know them that well.”

Daniel studied her for a moment, trying to understand the source of her anger. “Did they bully you in school?” he ventured.

Anya shook her head. “No, I had friends,” she said. “I was lucky, I never got bullied.”

“Then why are you so angry?” Daniel pressed, genuinely curious.

As Anya handed Daniel her phone, his eyes narrowed at the screen, his grip tightening on the device as he scrolled through the messages.

Daniel saw Vincent in the chats trying to get more information about Anya and frowned.

His blood boiled at the cruel words written about her; the taunts and jeers from people talking about Vincent and Anya rubbed him the wrong way.

Daniel’s jaw clenched as he watched Anya scroll through the high school reunion

“You went to school with him, huh… How long did you date?” he asked, and Anya paused. She was not sure where he was going with this, but she still answered.

“The first two years of college,”

He struggled to contain the overwhelming surge of jealousy threatening to consume him as he sat on the edge of the sink table beside her.

His grip on the edge of the table tightened, his knuckles turning white with the force of his grip. The muscles in his jaw twitched with suppressed fury, his mind reeling with a lot of emotions.

He never thought that an ex would make him this jealous. The mere thought that he once had Anya, his Anya, filled him with an uncontrollable rage.

Did he touch her?

His nostrils flared as he fought to rein in the storm raging within him.

“Was he the one on the phone earlier today?” he asked, and Anya nodded,

Daniel recalled that there was a person like this on the cruise. He was no fool. He recalled the way that man looked at his wife during the cruise. He wanted Anya back. This rubbed Daniel the wrong way.

He looked at Anya. Her hair was already dry. She looked positively ravishing. He realized he wanted to be the only one to see her this way.

He knew he had to remain composed, for Anya’s sake.

If he displayed his jealousy, she would not react well.

He closed his eyes for a moment, willing himself to calm down. It didn’t matter. He had her/ now. It was better if that Vincent knew his place and stayed away.

“He wants to meet you? Why?” Daniel asked.

“He said I should hand over what was in the safe. He made

out for me.”

Turning towards Anya, he reached out a hand to gently touch her arm. “Hey,” he murmured softly, his voice laced with a hint of concern. “You won’t see him, right? For what ever reason, you won’t see him, right?”

He looked up at her, his expression a mix of anger and concern.

“Why do you seem jealous?” Anya joked with a slight chuckle, but when he did not laugh, she stopped, and they stared at each other. He was really jealous?

“You won’t, right?” Daniel asked, his voice tight with emotion.

Anya took her phone back, her face a mask of indifference. “I never cared about what irrelevant people like them had to say,” she replied indifferently.

Daniel furrowed his brow, his mind racing with questions. “Was your relationship that deep? He seems obsessed; how did you break up?” he pressed.

Anya’s gaze hardened, her tone icy as she spoke, “I dated him for two years, and we broke up because I found that he was talking a lot about me,” she explained. “He has been my only boyfriend, but I can’t say the same for you, who had flies, probably flings, and even a few girlfriends. You even had Selene a moment ago. Don’t you think you are being too possessive?”

Daniel felt a surge of anger, his fists clenched at his sides.

“Only, what about me? Are you saying I have no right to ask?” he said.

“Are you listening to yourself?” Anya asked.

“Do you want to go to the reunion?” Daniel asked quietly, his voice softer now.

Anya shook her head. “No,” she replied simply. “I have no interest in seeing any of them again.

They ate their meal in silence, the weight of Anya’s past hanging heavy in the air between them. When they had finished, Anya rolled into bed, pulling the covers up around her. Daniel followed suit, slipping under the covers beside her and wrapping his arm around her waist.

They had rolled into bed, but Anya was not still speaking to him. Daniel could not take it any more. He grabbed her shoulders and turned her over.

“Talk to me! Baby, don’t ignore me; it is killing me,” he said, and she looked away without a word.

“Why are you so angry because of a few questions?” Do you like him? Do you like your ex? That is why you want to keep refusing to talk about it. Is that it?”

“Have you

Anya spun around sharply when she heard his words, her eyes flashing with anger. lost your mind? What is wrong with you?” Tears started to fill her eyes. “Why are your suddenly being so obstinate? Why are you doing this to me?” The frustration that had built up in Anya came out all at once as she screamed at him at the top of her lungs.

She had been frustrated all day. But for some reason, his questions sounded as though he was accusing her of something.

They were married, and they were by all accounts close. He had slept with her several times, but she dared not think he loved her, no matter how she felt. But he was acting as though she was his possession.

She was tempted to ask him a few times what he thought of her, but she was always afraid of

the answer.

“Sometimes I don’t know what you want from me. Why are you acting as though you…as though?” she could not find the words.

“As though I am in love with you? Because I am in love with you, Anya,” he said, and she froze.

At this point, Anya spun around and tried to escape, but his arms remained around her like a steel clamp.

“You realize what kind of relationship we are in, right?” Anya asked.

“Yes, you are my wife,” he said. As far as Daniel was concerned, this was fact.

“I am the wife you abandoned,” Anya corrected, painting.”

Daniel could tell Anya was angry at this moment

“Baby…” he started to say, pulling her closer, bu already glued to each other.
