MISTAKE 122
Chapter 122: Love Rivals
“Are you here?” Anya asked, finding that she was happy to hear his voice.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before Daniel responded. “Yes, I’m here,” he said. “I just finished up and thought I’d come pick you up.”
“I’m just heading back to the entrance,” she replied. “I’ll be there in a moment.” She was not sure why he came to pick her up, as he could have gone by himself.
As she neared the entrance of the orchard, she spotted Daniel in the distance; his back turned to her as he scanned the area. Despite herself, Anya couldn’t help but admire his well–built form and his muscular frame that was visible from his cotton shirt.
She watched him for a moment, feeling a strange mix of emotions stirring within her.
Their relationship was no more complicated, and yet there was still a wall between them. As she looked at him, she felt something about Daniel she found impossible to resist. Anya couldn’t deny the pull he had on her.
With a shake of her head, Anya pushed aside her conflicting feelings and wheeled herself closer to Daniel.
He felt her near and turned around to face her.
When he turned around and caught sight of her approaching, a warm smile spread across his
face.
“Hey there,” he greeted as she drew near, his voice filled with genuine warmth. “Did you have a good time?”
Love Hovah
Anya nodded in response, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. “Yes, I did,” she replied, her voice soft and melodic. “But even if the guards booked the entire orchard, I still met those I did not want to meet.”
Daniel paused before saying softly, reaching out to take the basket of apples from her hands. Your mother owns this orchard, I hear,” he asked, a hint of darkness in his voice. “How did you decide to come here?”
Daniel and rushed over because he heard she was here. After doing some research on Shaina, he knew she had some of her properties.
Anya shrugged, her expression thoughtful. “I just picked a place off the internet,” she said with a slight sigh. “Some rotten luck I have. Of all the places…”
“Besides, two pests I met could not bargain since they don’t have the contents of the safe, right?” she smiled.
“How did you figure?” he asked.
“I guessed when they were not aggressive with their request. The look on their face though when I asked them to fix a time and let me see what they had,” Anya said with a smile; the memory pleased her greatly.
“You guessed right. I had someone take it. It is on its way back to the capital city. We will see it when we get back,” he answered.
As Daniel pushed Anya towards the waiting car, he couldn’t help but notice the mischievous glint in her eyes.
There was something about the way she had smiled when she wanted to mess with someone that he loved. He found that he quite liked her naughty side.
Once they reached the car, Daniel lifted Anya from her wheelchair and gently placed her in the back seat. As he fastened her seatbelt, he couldn’t shake the feeling of curiosity that lingered
in the air.
There was so much he wanted to know about Anya, so much he wanted to uncover. But they
had time.
As they drove back to the hotel, Daniel stole glances at Anya whenever he could, taking in the

way
She was most beautiful. She was wild and unrestrained. But after what happened to her, he always had the feeling she was going to disappear.
As Anya settled back into her hotel room, she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her. They were alone. She was not sure what to do.
While Daniel disappeared into the bathroom for a quick shower, she pulled out her phone and absentmindedly scrolled through her university group chat. It was a group she rarely paid
to her. attention to, but Mary would use it to send coded messages
The chat was a bit silent since Lily, the group administrator, had pinned a post a classmate had made bragging about stealing someone’s boyfriend.
Anya was not one to gossip. But when she saw the drama, she was drawn in. It seemed that there was a reunion happening close by.
Despite her reluctance to engage with the chat, Anya found herself drawn to it once again, unable to resist reading through the chat. She wanted to distract herself from the sound of Daniel bathing.
As she scrolled through the messages, Anya’s heart sank at the familiar names and faces that
populated the chat. Vincent was in this chat.
She could see people she knew–some she liked, others were people who had tormented her in school–but apart from their cruel words, they did nothing to her. But she still had a bad impression of them. And now, here they were, discussing a reunion. It made Anya very conscious of how much time had passed.
There was a lot of discussion of the boyfriend stealing, among other things. All of which Anya enjoyed.
“I saw Anya today; Lily and Ethel were there,” someone said, and Anya paused.
“Where?” Vincent immediately asked.
“Oh? Vincent not knowing where his girlfriend is?” someone teased.
“Ex…they probably broke up,” another said.
“When was this?”
“Where are they ever dating?”
“How would I know?” the person answered.
“Where was she?” Vincent asked again.
Seeing this, Anya frowned. She forgot that she went to the same university with Vincent. They had a brief relationship before breaking up. Afterwards, they barely spoke. If she recalled well, he was always around her some way. She had to admit she used to like him. But she had only started speaking to him when she became friends with Mary.
“Apple town. She had bodyguards and rented out an entire orchard by herself,” the person who saw Anya said.
“An orchard?”
“That is money.”
“It looks like she got rich.”
“What rich? Who knows where the money is from, girl
these days.”
“She had bodyguards and rented out an entire orchard by herself. Does she think she is in a movie?”
“I also want to rent and orchard,” someone said.
“And walk around with bodyguards,” another added.
“She is a snob; she did not let us near her. You would have thought we were full of shit.”
This comment robbed Anya the wrong way. She was being raised by the charity organization. It was hard to have friends. She was greatly monitored all the time. Even if they did not restrict her, she did not want to get close to anyone.
“But if she rented out an orchard, how did you meet her?” Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Is that the point?”
“Did you sneak into a restored orchard?”
“Really? Lily, Ethel, confirm?”
Anya also wanted to know this. Either they snuck in or one of them was part of the staff.
“I heard she married into a big family,” someone said.
“How come I did not know this?” another asked.
“We have not even gotten over Janet stealing her friend’s boyfriend; how will we know about her life?”
“Is your friend actually in love with him after all that? Fight over a man is disgusting.”
The discussion turned to something else again.
“It’s been years. Can’t her friend just let it go?”
“If it were you, would you? And what does destroying her wedding have to do with loving him? It is about revenge, okay? Revenge.”
“If they are so in love with him, they should become sister wives and serve him together.”
“That would be interesting.”
“Hey, did you guys invite Anya to the reunion?” Vincent asked.
“Why do you want to see her?” someone teased.
