Chapter 184
Listening to those words, Patricia felt only one thing, and that was she had not been a part of the Aniston Family for a long time. Now, she was on her own, so she couldn't understand their happiness.
The butler next to her respectfully said, “Miss Aniston, Old Mr. Aniston asked me to take you to his study."
Patricia didn't come here today to see these people either, and she had only listened to her grandfather. It was true that she wanted to see him as well, so she nodded slightly. "Please do." NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
Trailing behind the butler, she circled around the lively living room and went to the study on the second floor.
The butler stood by the entrance and pointed at the door. "Miss Aniston, Old Mr. Aniston is inside. Please head in."
Saying that, he turned around and left, while Patricia pushed the door open and went in.
The wooden floor carried the smell of aged wood as she walked in slowly. The study on the second floor remained unchanged from the past. Wooden bookshelves were inlaid in the wall, forming a wall of bookshelves. There was a wooden elevator, which Hendrick must've been using to take the books. However, Patricia knew that taking books was not something that Hendrick would do himself; it was the staff's job.
She walked slowly to the desk and called out to him with a smile. "Grandpa."
Hendrick was holding a picture of her grandmother. He caressed it gently, his eyes full of yearning. Then, when he looked up at Patricia and saw how similar she was to the person in the picture, his eyes misted over with emotion. "Tricia, come here."
She walked to his side and spotted the picture. "Grandpa, are you thinking about Grandma again?"
Hendrick nodded. "Your grandma was the one who arranged for this banquet, but she left too soon. Sigh!"
Patricia gently kneaded his shoulders and comforted, "Grandpa, I'm sure that Grandma is watching over you in heaven. She wouldn't want you to be like this. She'd want you to be happy instead!"
Saying that, she took out a lollipop. "Here, try this. It's really sweet, just like me!"
Hendrick's gaze brightened a little at the sound of that. She had always comforted him like this in the past. He took the lollipop and peeled off the packaging before putting it in his mouth with a nod. "It is sweet!"
Patricia rubbed his shoulders, a smile appearing on her face.
However, Hendrick's smile slowly faded as he took out the lollipop from his mouth and glanced at it. "Does this belong to your kids?"
Patricia jolted slightly, a trace of nervousness flashing past her face. Her fingers tightened slightly, but she nodded.
Hendrick took another taste. "They must be as sweet as you!"
Patricia took a deep breath and said, "Grandpa, I know you don't like to hear about what happened back then, and it left a scar on me too. But, Grandpa, the kids are innocent. Besides, they're adorable. I don't regret having them at all."
To her, her three children were a precious gift from God.
Hendrick nodded. "Bring them over to see me next time."
Hearing that, Patricia was slightly taken aback, before she was filled with happiness. "All right, Grandpa!"
Hendrick stood up. "Let's go out and join the fun. Adeline has found a good husband, so everyone is ecstatic."
With Patricia supporting Hendrick, the two left the study and went to the living room downstairs. When everyone saw Hendrick, they immediately stopped whatever they were doing and walked toward him.
"Dad…"
"Grandpa…"
Hendrick nodded. "Don't mind me. Enjoy yourselves."
When the crowd glanced at Patricia, they recalled the luxury car from the other night. After that, they had all looked into the value of the car secretly.
Cersei saw the necklace on Patricia's neck at a glance. She walked over and lifted the pendant, taking a glance at it. "What brand is this? The craftsmanship is quite unique."
Hendrick took another taste. "They must be as sweet as you!"
