Chapter 323 Faked Death
Ronan picked up her work badge hanging on her chest and read it, “Jane?” He was pleasantly surprised, “I didn’t expect it to be you, you’re actually from Mede Heart Research Center. I was clueless about it.” He had to admire his own eyesight. Even with her mask on, he still recognized her.
Ronan found out that Elijah might invest in a fully artificial heart and was planning to poach someone from Mede. Elijah had never failed in what he did. So, Ronan wanted to be ahead of Elijah and poach people himself. He would invest and research in a fully artificial heart.
But Ronan had no knowledge in this field at all, and he didn’t even have any acquaintances. He came here like a fool. And then he was blocked at the door. When he was anxiously pacing outside the door, he saw Freya. He felt like he had caught a lifeline.
“Come with me,” Ronan pulled her.
Freya held onto the railing. Ronan turned his head and looked at her. He saw her eyes and forehead, this appearance.
“Freya?”
What he thought in his heart slipped out of his mouth involuntarily. He didn’t mean to. But it shocked Freya. She panicked and wanted to dodge. Her panicked eyes were caught by Ronan.

What was she panicking about? What was she afraid of? Ronan couldn’t figure it out.
“Who are you really?” Ronan tore off her mask and stared at the scars on her neck and face.
Were they from burns?
How did Freya die?
She should have been dead in an explosion, beyond recognition, shouldn’t she?
“You are…” He couldn’t bring himself to acknowledge it, yet he was shocked by what he saw.
Both were burned.
“… you’re still alive?”
Freya lowered her head and spoke in English, “You’ve mistaken me for someone else.” After saying that, she struggled forcefully. But Ronan held onto her even tighter. She couldn’t break free.
“You spoke to me in the language of Country Z earlier, and now you’re speaking English. Aren’t you concealing something?” Ronan interrogated, staring at her intently. “You were so scared just now. If you’re not guilty, what are you afraid of?”
“I truly don’t know what you’re talking about. Please let me go,” Freya responded again in fluent and proficient English. She was too flustered. Little did she know that the more she tried to conceal, the easier it was to expose.
Ronan stared at her intensely, “You’re not dead? No, you faked your death!?”
Freya had no choice but to lift her head, “What do you want?”
Ronan, with tears in his eyes, held her tightly in his embrace, “You… you’re still alive.”
His voice trembled. Freya never expected to be recognized so easily. She felt helpless and powerless, “Let go of me.”
“No, I won’t,” Ronan refused. He held onto her tightly.
Freya felt uncomfortable, “You’re pressing against my belly.”
Only then did Ronan realize that she was pregnant. “Sorry, it wasn’t intentional. Whose child is in your belly?” he asked, staring at her belly.
Freya glanced at the time on her watch, “I don’t have time to talk to you here. I still have work to do.”
“Can we meet tonight?” Ronan asked.
Freya wanted to refuse, but given the circumstances, she couldn’t say no. She was afraid Ronan would blurt things out. Suddenly, she thought of something, an idea in her mind. “Okay, let’s meet tonight, but you’re not allowed to tell anyone about my situation.”
“I know, I’ll keep it a secret for you.” Ronan understood her thoughts. It was simply to prevent others from knowing that she was still alive.
“Thank you,” Freya said.
“We don’t need to thank each other for our relationship,” Ronan said. He smiled, with a hint of surprise in his eyes, “I really didn’t expect it, I didn’t recognize you…”
He was truly awake now, Freya wasn’t dead. For him, it was a great blessing.
“I should go now,” she interrupted coldly.
Ronan watched her walk away.
After work, Freya saw him at the entrance. She walked towards him. Ronan smiled. Just as he was about to approach her, he saw someone walking towards them from the side. His face darkened involuntarily.
