Chapter 260 Keeping a Secret
Why would Joan Lowe send her something?
Freya felt an inexplicable nervousness. At the same time, she wanted to find out what was inside the package quickly. She held the delivery and walked back. Returning to her office, she sat down at her desk and opened the cardboard box. Inside, there was a letter and a red velvet box. Freya hesitated, not immediately taking out what was inside. Her throat felt incredibly dry. Joan Lowe was dead. These were her belongings, and it made her nose feel sour. Her discomfort wasn’t because of Joan Lowe but because of Elijah. It seemed like fate played a huge joke on Elijah. Suddenly giving him a loved one, but taking her away overnight. Joy and tragedy arrived so quickly, catching everyone off guard, not even giving them time to prepare.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Freya took several deep breaths to calm herself before she took out the red velvet box. Inside, there was a ring, simple in design, with a large yellow diamond that sparkled and shone brilliantly. She didn’t know much about diamonds, but just by looking at the color and size, she knew it must be valuable. She closed the box, placed it back in the cardboard box, and finally picked up the letter. After a brief hesitation, she tore open the envelope and unfolded the letter. Inside, the words were written in elegant handwriting with a fountain pen.
She started reading the lines of text.
…
Gradually, Freya’s expression changed. It was getting more and more complicated, and she felt more and more lost. The last line said, “I hope you can keep this secret for me, don’t tell anyone, especially Elijah.
By Joan Nash”
…
In the operating room, Sivin grabbed Eric.
“Stay calm, you can’t bring the dead back to life, you have to grieve and move on…”
Eric sat on the ground, looking up at Sivin, his voice hoarse as he said, “I don’t want to live anymore either.”
“Eric, you have to pull yourself together.” Sivin tried to persuade him. But Eric shook his head, “No, without her, what’s the point of me being alive?”
Sivin pursed his lips and let out a deep sigh. Even if he wanted to save him, he couldn’t save someone who had given up on himself.
“Do you love her that much? Willing to give up your own life?”
Sivin knew that Eric really could but he asked. He wasn’t willing to give up hope, hoping that Eric could face Joan’s death and pick himself up. There was still a long road ahead in his remaining years.
“If I could, I would trade my life for hers,” Eric said earnestly.
“I understand your feelings, but even if you want to live a good life now, I’m afraid you can’t. Joan Nash’s death won’t stay hidden for long, Elijah will know that his mother died because of you, and you…”
“If he comes, let him come. I’m not afraid. I won’t hide. He’s Joan’s son, even if he wants my life, I’ll give it to him, and I won’t do anything to hurt him.”
“Why must you do this?” Sivin sighed. He wanted to save his friend, but Eric had given up on himself. “Fine. Since you don’t even want to live, there’s nothing I can do.” Sivin gave up trying to persuade him and called someone in, “The body needs to be taken to the morgue.”
“No, don’t.” Eric clung to Joan’s body like he was possessed, “Maybe she can still live, just like last time.”
He looked at Sivin, “Transplant my heart into her. You’re a heart specialist, you can save her, right?”
Sivin almost blurted out, “Are you insane?”
Joan Nash was already dead. It was pointless to give anything.
“Save her again, please.” Eric grabbed Sivin’ coat, “You’re my good friend, help me one more time.”
Sivin hesitated. He had already done everything he could.
“Eric, stay calm, don’t do this…”
“If you die, Joan Nash will be sad. Live well so she can rest in peace.” Said Freya.
Freya had been standing at the door of the operating room.
Sivin was surprised, “Why are you here?”
Freya’s eyes were red and slightly swollen, it seemed like she had been crying.
“I’ve been here for a while. I heard your conversation.” Said she.
