Today’s the day of Mary’s coronation, it is also the day that I let the world know that I have taken a human, a simple village girl who’ll I gain no power from as Queen. There will be an uprising, that I am sure of. But it is my hope that my devout followers will stand with me and accept Mary as their Queen and my fated mate.
I know the wolves won’t side with me and the witches seem to be on the side of the wolves. The wolves and the Witches multiple quicker than the other species. Their numbers are greater, but I also know that they are not as strong as the others. The witches magic depend on their surroundings, if the elements aren’t aligned exactly as they should be then their power is mediocre at best, their major powers comes during the solstice moon, which is no where near. The wolf shifters have their brute force and quick healing abilities; they also train daily making them efficient fighters. If this was a battle between the humans and their modern warfare the witches and wolves would win, like they have done over and over again, but if it’s a fight against me they want, I’ll make sure to crush them.
The Faeries who are generally neutral when it comes to war, hate the Witches, so they would definitely aide me in a fight against them. While the Faeries magic gives back to nature, the witches magic depletes it living the land barren. The Faeries magic increases during the Zenith, when the Sun is at its highest peak, Mary’s coronation will take place at high noon; giving the Faeries an unfair advantage against the Witches if they do so choose to fight. My vampires share the same characteristics as the wolf shifters though I hate to compare us. We are incredibly strong, we have rapid healing abilities, and our enhanced speed makes us lethal fighters; our strength increases after we’ve fed, we’re stronger when we feed from our source directly, which is why I’ll make sure all of my Commanding officers drink from a blood slave, while their subordinates can drink from blood bags.
The dragon shifters would not intervene. The were the true neutral party. They had nothing to lose if the wolves won or if I came out the victor. The wolf shifters couldn’t command a horde of dragons, and when
I first became King, the Dragons and I had come to a mutual agreement, they would kneel to me, as long as I let them live as a separate entity. I had agreed with only one condition, if they started killing the other species, I would have to intervene. I had Draq and Dru at my side, but they were still recovering from the torment Alpha Ash inflicted on them. I was lucky to still have them by my side.
I turned and looked at my mate, she was laying in our bed, her red curly looks a mess, as she peacefully rested. Our covers were stained in blood, thanks to our bedtime adventures last night. Mary had come to love sharing our blood with each other during our love making sessions. She loved that our blood bond strengthened our mate bond, and that she was adding to my natural abilities, increasing my strength by providing her blood to me. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that her blood did nothing for me, if I shared mine with her. She felt like she was providing something to this relationship, and I’d be damned if I took that from her. I chuckled quietly to myself as I watched Mary stretch out her arm and patting beside her as she looked for me in bed. Her brows furrowed and her bottom lip stuck out as she soon realized I wasn’t laying beside her any longer. Her eyes shot open, a worried expression on her face, but when her eyes met mine, she smiled, causing my heart to flutter. This woman, she’d be the death of me.
“Nikolai,” Mary called as she sat up and wrapped her arms around me, “Come back to bed.”
“I can’t NoboBb, there is so much that I still have to do today.” I replied to her.
“Just for a few more minutes,” Mary pouted, “You know I sleep better with you by my side. I need my Кровь сосет монстр,”
I chuckled at her nickname for me, Mary had decide to learn Russian. She wanted to be able to communicate with me in private when others were around, she also wanted to figure out all the different names I was calling her. So Kade took it upon himself to teach her. It shocked me when Mary first spoke Russian to me. It was after one of our many love making sessions. We were laying in bed tоgеthеr аnd ѕhе brushed my hаir from my face and called me her “Кровь сосет монстр- My blood sucking cuddle
monster.” When I asked her why that nickname in particular, she told me it was to remind her of how we came to be. I was a blood sucking monster in her eyes when we first met, but the longer she spent with me, she soon came to realize that while I was a monster, I still had a caring, compassionate and loving heat. She told me while she disagreed with me keeping blood slaves as a monster would, the palace slaves lived better lives than other humans. They lived in comfort, knowing that they were protected and they lived a life of luxury, with a warm bed, full stomachs and a roof they didn’t have to worry about caving in on them.
“Okay,” I smiled down at her, “But only a few more minutes.” I declared as she dragged me down on top of her.
She wiggled her hips, grinding her body against mine. “A few more minutes, for this?” She asked seductively.
“Mmm, yes Kpacubbů, plenty of time for that.” I growled as I leaned down and smashed my lips against hers.
Once Mary was fully sated, I held her in my arms, my lips against her forehead. I never wanted this moment to end, but there were so many preparations that still needed to be done. I kissed Mary’s forehead before getting out of bed and walking towards my closet, earning a whine from her.
“I have to go, the sooner the preparations are completed the better. I want today to be perfect. With that being said, I will bid you farewell, my soon to be Queen. Nevaeh will meet you here in a moment, to help you decide which dress you’d like to wear tonight.”
Mary grimaced at the sound of Nevaeh’s name. “Does it have to be Nevaeh?” She asked.
“Would you prefer someone else?” I asked cocking my head to the side, “I thought Nevaeh was your best friend?”
Mary’s eyes filled with tears. “I would rather not talk about it Nikolai, the subject, it is still a sore
subject for me.”
“Mary, whatever it is you must tell me. And I will do my best to fix it.”
“How can you fix something that has already occurred?” She asked, looking down at the ground. “No one can rewrite the past.”
“But maybe…”
“No Nikolai, I don’t want to talk about it. Today is our special day, I don’t want to be reminded of the things that happened in the past. Go ahead and send Nevaeh in with the dresses. It is about time I checked in with my friend.”
I went to reach out to Mary to pull her into a hug, but she stepped away from me, hugging herself tightly.” You better hurry my King. Preparations are already underway. And you promised me an unforgettable coronation.”
“Fine,” I sulked at her, turning to leave, before stopping right in front of the door, and turning back to look at her, “But don’t think this is the end of this conversation. We will just put a pin in it for now and then after we are fully united as one, we will pick up where we left off.”
“Of course your highness.” Mary smiled a teasing look on her face as she curtseyed at me.
MARY
Shortly after Nikolai left, Nevaeh made her way into our room. She had a large mark from a pair of fangs on her neck and it made me grimace. It reminded me of her betrayal. Nikolai wasn’t innocent in this either, but I had forgiven him. He had done it for a reason, he was trying to distance himself from our
mate bond; and being a vampire he still needed to feed. I couldn’t bring myself to forgive Nevaeh, Nikolai would have never drank for her, unless she willingly offered. It was one of the things that allowed Nikolai to maintain his humanity. He would never take someone’s blood by force.
“Mary!” Nevaeh squealed running towards me her arms wide open. “I am so excited for you! Who would have thought, a girl from the auction house becoming Queen.”
Just before Nevaeh could engulf me in a hug, I stepped back.
“Uhh Mary? Is everything alright?” Nevaeh asked a look of confusion on her face.
“Yes, everything is swell.” I responded, not wanting to get into it on what was essentially my wedding day.
“Look Mary, if it is about me sharing your plan with Nikolai, I don’t regret it. It kept you safe, and it brought you back her. I am just happy you’re alive. You can continue to hate me all you want, but I don’t regret what I did.” Nevaeh said, looking at me stubbornly.
“When did you and the King get so close that you have started calling him Nikolai?” I asked just wanting her to admit the damn truth.
“1..I don’t know what you mean Mary?” Neveah responded her eyes darting to the floor, her guilt written all over her face.,
“Could it have been when I was crying my eyes out to you because Nikolai was ignoring me and he wasn’t feeding on me?”
“Mary?” Nevaeh asked, still pretending to be innocent.
“JUST ADMIT IT NEVEAH!” I yelled at her starting to lose my temper.
“Mary, calm down. I don’t know what you want me to admit.” Nevaeh responded, holding her hands up like a shield, making my anger rise to an entirely new level.
“Cut the Fucking Act Nevaeh, I know he was feeding from you.” I replied, tears burning in the corner of my eyes as I turned away from her not wanting her to see me in my current state of weakness.
“Is that what you think?” Nevaeh asked, grabbing my shoulder and turning me to look at her, “You think that I would betray you?” A hurt expression on her face. “After everything we’ve gone through together? After giving each other strength at the auction house, after spending days on end discussing our previous life’s and telling each other our deepest secrets, you think that I would give that all away, just to let some King Vampire stick his fangs into me?”
“1..I don’t know what to think. I only know what i heard with my own two ears. Nikolai asked Kade if you were ready for him, why else would he go to you?”
“Oh Mary.” Nevaeh said shaking her head at me. “You can really be so dumb sometimes.” Nevaeh took a deep breath before continuing, “I had hoped to avoid telling you this. I didn’t want you to judge him, especially since you were becoming his Queen. I didn’t want to cause him any trouble, because…” Nevaeh’s ears started to well up with tears, “Well because I love him and I don’t want us to be parted.”
I let out a snarl. It didn’t matter that Nevaeh was in love with Nikolai, he was mine and only mine damnit!
“You really are so stupid Mary.” Nevaeh said, choking on laughter and tears. “I’m not in love with Nikolai, I’ve fallen in love with Kade dummy.”
“Then why would you let Nikolai feed from you?” I asked, not bothering to hide my confusion.
“I didn’t let Nikolai feed from me.” Nevaeh responded
“If you’re trying to tell me Nikolai took advantage of you, I know that’s a damn lie.” I replied feeling my anger start to boil over again.
“SHUT UP MARY!” Nevaeh yelled. “Before you pass judgement let me tell you my side of things.”
I inhaled deeply and let out a slow breath. “The promise isn’t for me. I want you to promise me that after you’ve heard my part of things, that you won’t judge Kade for the part he’s played in this story. That you’ll still allow him here in the castle by Nikolai’s side.”
Mary looked at me confused, “I am not mad at Kade, he was an innocent bystander in all of this. He only followed the orders Nikolai had given him. So yes, I promise you that I will not throw Kade out of the castle once I become Queen and that I won’t judge him for his part in this story.”
“Okay then I’ll start from the beginning.” I inhaled deeply once more before beginning my tale.
***About a week after arriving here Kade took notice that I was unhappy. He asked me what was wrong, and I told him that I really missed my family and the others in my village. He asked if I was unhappy here with him, and I told I wasn’t that I was unhappy, just that I felt lonely and like I didn’t have a place here. I could tell that my words effected him because the next morning, he asked me about my village and things that I did there. I told him one of my favorite past times was tag. That day Kade talked me into playing a game of tag. We had so much fun running around the castle like we were little kids. Then he surprised me by taking me out in the gardens for a walk, in the middle of the gardens there was a beautiful picnic set up just for us. Kade had had the kitchen staff make all of my favorite food. There was ugali, samaki with kachumbari on top of pilau and a side of sukumawiki. The meal was filling and absolutely delicious. It reminded me of when my entire family would gather for
dinner. Afterwards we we walked to the village and he’d somehow managed to gather African Vendors there. I don’t know how he managed it in such a short time, but he somehow did. He took me to every
single vendor and bought me an item from each one; not caring how expensive the items were, while at the vendors there was a musician there who played lyres. He brought me a little slice of home to the kingdom and didn’t even ask me for anything in return.
I stopped for a moment lost in my memories of that day, Mary taking my moment of silence to once interrupt me. “That’s nice and all Nevaeh, but I don’t understand what this has to do with you and Nikolai.”
“I know you’re eager to hear what happened between the two of us, but to fully understand why it occurred you need to first hear the background behind it.”
** After our outing, I decided I wanted to give Kade a chance, I wanted to get to know him better. That day, I learned that he wasn’t the evil monster that I imagined all vampires were. Kade had a soul, his humanity still existed. After what Kade had done to me, I wanted to do something for him in return. The next day I spent my free time researching on vampires. Every book I read had one thing in common, it said that Vampires enjoyed the hunt when they fed. That it brought them immense pleasure, raising their endorphin levels to an all time high before they fed. By this time Kade had fed from me many times and I learned to trust him when he fed and he learned my physical cues on when to stop.
**I brought the idea up to Kade that we should play a game of tag and once he caught me he could feed from me. Kade was hesitant about the game, he was afraid his vampire side would take over, but I told him I was confident in his strength. The game brought us both immense pleasure. We did it almost everyday. I would run through the castle and Kade would chase after me, once he caught me, he we hold me tightly in his lap why he would feed from me. The chase not only increased his endorphins but it increased mine as well. *
Kade became very busy after the werewolf attack. I hadn’t seen him in a few days, he’d been in council meetings from sun up to sun down. Some of the days he didn’t even come to bed. After going five full
days without seeing him and without him feeding on me, he finally had a free. I wanted to play tag, but Kade was afraid he wouldn’t be able to control his vampire because it had been so long since he had fed. I begged and begged to play the game and finally Kade conceded. He’s willing to do anything to make me happy.
I should have listened to Kade that day. We were having fun running throughout the castle, but when he tackled me, I could sense the change in him. His features became more animalistic, instead of cradling me in his arms, he pinned me to the ground and sunk his fangs into my throat, he kept drinking and drinking, my visions getting darker by the minute. I tried to push him off of me, but he was just too strong. I screamed his name trying to get his attention but he was so far gone. I knew that my end was near, that Kade, the man I had fallen helplessly in love with was going to kill me, and when he came to he would hate himself, and I wouldn’t be there to comfort him and tell him that everything would be okay. When he finally gained control of his body, he let out the most heart wrenching scream, he was hysterical, he kept trying to heal me with his blood, but it wasn’t working. A few minutes later Nikolai was by our side, his blood was stronger than Kades, and he was able to heal me some, enough to bring me comfort, but I was still in danger of dying from blood loss, my body was regenerating blood like it should. I was so weak, I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even open my eyes, but Kade sat by me every day apologizing over and over again for what had happened. I wanted to hold him and tell him that I had forgiven him the moment it happened, but I couldn’t. Nikolai came to my room every night, feeding me his blood. One night I heard him telling Kade that he couldn’t feed from you. Him supplying me so much blood every night was weakening him and he couldn’t afford to lose control when he was around you. Nikolai began feeding from blood bags to sustain his hunger. He never once fed from me Mary. Nikolai saved my life and sacrificed his connection with you to do so.
