Chapter 288
Zachary was startled to hear that the thugs had reached the top floor. That was where Rachel's office was.
If they got to her, things could turn really bad. Wasting no time, he quickly pulled out his phone and dialed the president's office.
He called several times, but there was no answer. He wasn't sure if Rachel had returned to the office or if she was in the restroom.
Not knowing what to do, Zachary suddenly spotted Matthew and asked, "Matt, you have Ms. Carter's number, right? Call her now! Tell her not to go back to the office and to find somewhere to hide."
Matthew had already pulled out his phone and was dialing Rachel's number.
The line beeped twice, then went to a busy signal. He'd been blocked.
Realizing there was no time to waste, Matthew sprinted toward the elevator.
Meanwhile, Rachel sat in the secretary's office on the top floor, still fuming.
Every now and then, she vented angrily, "Pervert! How can he be so shameless? How can someone like that even exist? It's absolutely outrageous!"
Tracy stood behind her, massaging Rachel's shoulders. She said, "You can't always know what's in a person's heart. Who would've thought he'd be so shameless as to have sex with Ms. Clark on the rooftop? What was he thinking? It's as if he wasn't using his brain at all." Rachel coldly snorted, thinking about how Matthew always seemed to lose control around her and was constantly being touchy. She said furiously, "He's completely shameless. When he sees a woman, he forgets everything else."
Tracy continued to comfort Rachel and condemn Matthew, but she had her doubts.
Matthew had always been a bit flirty, but he had never done anything inappropriate. When she had asked him to stay at her house for protection, he had refused.
She kept feeling that there was something suspicious about this.
"Do you think it's possible that Ms. Clark might have seduced Matthew?" she asked.
"Huh?" Rachel was taken aback but quickly dismissed the idea.
She said, "No way. Absolutely not. You didn't hear her on the rooftop She was crying and screaming, and her voice was completely different. She was clearly forced and in a lot of pain."
Tracy pursed her lips. Back then, Rachel's screams had been deafening in the car in the valley.noveldrama
She didn't dare mention what happened in the car, knowing it would reveal that she had been awake the entire time.
Tracy explained, "That doesn't prove anything. Some women tend to react that way. I'm thinking that, after all, Matthew is a man.
"It's been a long time since he's been with a woman. Maybe Ms. Clark was trying to get out of trouble and used her looks to do it."
Rachel stared at Tracy in shock. She said, "Tracy, what are you saying?
"I've gone over 20 years without being with a man. I've had countless men chase after me, and I didn't do anything inappropriate with them either."
Seeing Rachel's anger, Tracy quickly
shifted the topic with a smile and said, "Alright, alright, I was just making point. Let's drop that and focus on how to deal with the Clarks. After what happened with
Sara, her family is definitely going to cause problems."
Just then, they heard chaotic footsteps outside the office. Tracy frowned and said, "This is the top floor Who's making all that noise? I'll go check it out."
With that, she pushed the door open.
After just a glance outside, she immediately drew back in fear. She quickly slammed the door shut and pushed a desk against it to block it.
Seeing Tracy looking so anxious, Rachel also began to feel nervous. "What's wrong, Tracy?"
Tracy pointed at the door. "Sara's here, and she's brought a group of burly men with her. I think they're here to cause trouble. What should we do?" Hearing Sara's name, Rachel's hatred for Matthew flared. "It's all that pervert's fault," she said, blaming him.
