Chapter 287
What? No one could have expected that it was Rachel who had actually pursued Matthew.
The security guards were stunned, their jaws dropping in disbelief. The senior executives in the office were also wide-eyed with shock. They wondered if they had heard that correctly. Rachel actually admitted that she was the one pursuing Matthew.
Everyone stood frozen, shocked by what they had just heard.
Matthew finally heard her address the real issue. She meant that he had caused trouble for the Carters by offending the Clark family.
It was indeed his fault, and he felt he should apologize for it. "I didn't have any other choice at the time. I'm sorry."
Rachel was almost losing her mind hearing that.
He actually dared to say he had no other choice but to have sex with Sara on the rooftop! He was utterly shameless. His behavior was despicable, and he was completely unreasonable.noveldrama
She was so furious that she lost all sense of reason. "Are you even human?" she snapped. "You pounded with Ms. Clark on the rooftop, and now you're trying to justify it?"
Matthew frowned when she mentioned he had pounded Sara. He was confused about why she had suddenly brought it up.
After three years in prison, he found it odd that "pounding" was used instead of "spanking".
He asked, "What's wrong with me pounding her? It's not like it's a big deal. I was just teaching her a lesson. Can't you even tolerate that? Don't be so petty!"
Rachel felt like she was losing her mind hearing his casual attitude about having sex with Sara.
It was even more outrageous that he expected her to tolerate his behavior while calling her petty. Shaking with anger, she spat in Matthew's face and screamed at him before running away in tears. At the doorway, Tracy was utterly stunned. She now understood why Rachel was so angry.
Matthew had actually had sex with Sara on the rooftop, which was completely unacceptable.
In a fit of rage, she called Matthew a jerk before turning to chase after Rachel.
In the staff room, the guards were stunned into silence.
They had envied Matthew for having Rachel chase after him, but now it seemed he was squandering that chance. He already had Rachel, but he stil messed around with another woman. It was as if he didn't appreciate what he had.
Matthew watched Rachel leave, completely puzzled. He couldn't understand why there was such an uproar over hitting a woman or why Tracy had called him a jerk.
At worst, he thought he was somewhat violent for hitting a woman.
He figured there must be some misunderstanding and that it could only be resolved once everyone had calmed down.
Seeing that someone hadn't had their bones set, Matthew walked over and had the man bite down on a gauze pad. He then carefully set the bone.
Zachary approached him and said
earnestly, "Matt, you're more capable
and younger than I am, but I have a few more years on you. I want to give you some advice.
"With someone as good as Ms. Carter, you shouldn't be involved with any other woman."
Matthew carefully reduced the dislocated arm with a gentle tug, then secured it with a splint. He made a simple sling and placed it around the guard's neck.
Now that he had time to respond to Zachary, he said. "It's just pounding one woman. It's no big deal. If she doesn't like it, she can just tell me. I won't do it again if that's the issue."
Even as he spoke, it still felt odd to use "pounding" for spanking. Still, he forced himself to use the new term to stay current and avoid seeming out of touch. Zachary was left speechless, thinking that Matthew was hopeless. He was cheating with another woman and talked about it as if it were no big deal.
Zachary was at a loss for words and didn't know how to advise him further. Just then, the walkie-talkie on his waist suddenly buzzed to life.
An urgent voice came through, saying, "Captain, we've got a problem. Someone leading about ten thugs has barged in.
"They're wreaking havoc, attacking anyone who tries to stop them. And now, they've reached the top floor!"
