The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 116

Chapter 116: Being Pampered

While Anya was trapped in doors, Mathias was in a trap of his own making

Daniel had found him. He had been careful to inform the organization about where he was to get his men over, but when he was discharged, trouble came like rain.

Mathias was seated at the back of a car driving him to a safe house when his phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

“It is not good to run,” Daniel’s voice came from the other end, and Mathias froze.

“How did you get this number?” Mathias asked.

“The same way I found you. Say, Mathias, the best way to run from someone is to stay low. Not by poking around their business,” Daniel said, and Mathias felt the urge to curse.

He suddenly realized what gave him away. Hazel. There was no way Daniel would not investigate Hazel and her mother after what he heard Hazel’s mother had taken. Mathias‘ men were watching Hazel. It would have been easy for Daniel to trace him that way.”

Mathias for a Monet wondered if he was stupid.

“I sometimes do wonder if you are stupid,” Daniel said, seeming to read his mind. “It is honestly surprising you could fake being the bead of the Dark Hand this long.”

“What do you want?” Mathias asked.

“A witness when I expose Mr. President,” Daniel answered.

“What?” Mathias exclaimed. He was sure that Daniel now knew who the real head of the Dark Hand is.

“Brace yourself,” Daniel said, and the car Mathias was in was slammed from the side, causing it to skid off the road to a stop.

Mathias‘ wound ripped open from the impact, blood escaped his barely healed wound, and he went dizzy from the pain.

It did not take long before he was taken.

Daniel and Anya sat in the quiet of the mansion’s library. Anya was reading and ignoring him. This was now common for her. Daniel did not like being ignored. He had been doing some research on what women liked.

Glancing at the girl beside him, Daniel turned to Anya and asked her if she wanted to go shopping.

Anya paused and stared at him in surprise, her eyes widening in disbelief at the unexpected offer. She wondered if Daniel had finally changed his mind, if he was finally ready to let her out of the house.

For a moment, Anya hesitated, but she had stayed inside too long. She did not care what they were going to do. She nodded, and he said he would arrange it. She hurried upstairs to change into a dress and hurried back down only to pause at the sight in the living room.

Her excitement quickly turned to confusion as she came face to face with an army of personal shoppers waiting to cater to her every whim.

Racks upon racks of clothes lined the walls, their vibrant colors and luxurious fabrics a stark contrast to the eggshell tones of the mansion’s interior.

Anya’s eyes widened in disbelief as she took in the scene before her, before she cursed at herself for believing his nonsense. She had thought that he was finally ready to let her out, but instead, she was met with a lavish display of money, the kind that can only be seen on TV.

Anya’s anger flared hot and bright as she turned to face Daniel, her voice shaking with fury as she struggled to contain her emotions.

“What in the K–drama is this?” Anya demanded, her words sharp with accusation. “I thought you were taking me shopping, but you brought the shop here?”

Daniel’s expression softened slightly at Anya’s outburst; he realized she thought he would be taking her out. It was not that he did not want to, but he had become increasingly afraid that she would be out there unsafe when he was not looking.

“You can’t go out, Anya,” Daniel said, his voice soft and low as though he were whispering. but he was loud enough to be heard. It was as though he was afraid she would stop talking since she had gained the habit of ignoring him. “Doesn’t shopping make girls happy? You can pick whatever you want.”

But Anya shook her head, her eyes blazing with indignation as she glared at Daniel with undisguised anger. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

“Have you been watching too many dramas?” Anya said, her voice trembling with emotion.

“I don’t watch dramas,” he answered.

“Who brings a shop here just to stop someone from going out? You know this is forced imprisonment, right?”

With those words ringing in the air, Anya turned on her heel and stormed out of the grand foyer, leaving Daniel surrounded by the sea of clothes and personal shoppers.

As she made her way back to her room, she was full of disappointment and frustration. What did he think she was–apet?

But before she could go up the stairs, he rushed up and carried her.

“You should stay off your feet; you are still recovering,” he cautioned.

“Says who? I am perfectly fine!” She shouted at him.

He could tell her frustration was growing.

Desperate to cheer her up, Daniel put her down on the sofa.

“Just look and see if you like anything,” he said.

“What’s the point of shopping when we’re stuck at home?” Anya retorted, her tone filled with bitterness. “When have you ever seen someone shop from the comfort of their own home?”

“Plenty of people shop online, Anya,” Daniel countered. He could not see the problem. “It’s not that uncommon.”

But Anya shook her head, her expression skeptical as she shot Daniel a look filled with disbelief.

“How is that the same thing?” she asked.

“How is this any different?” he countered.

“Maybe in your world,” Anya said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “But in mine, it is not.. People actually leave the house to go shopping.”

Daniel felt a surge of irritation at Anya’s words, his patience wearing thin as he struggled to understand her perspective.

“Fine, if you don’t want to shop, then don’t,” Daniel snapped, his frustration boiling over as he rose from his seat and stormed out of the library, leaving Anya alone in the living room.

The personal shoppers were unsure what to do, but they kept a professional face and tried not to look at them.

Daniel was only gone a second before he returned, his steps slow and hesitant as he approached her on the chair. He could see the anger on her face. He knew he was going too far confining her, but his need to possess her was growing each day.

“I’m sorry, Anya,” Daniel said, his voice soft with remorse. “I didn’t mean to snap at you. I just… I just want to make sure you are fine and never need to experience anything close to what happened again.”

Anya’s gaze softened at Daniel’s words. She suddenly understood where he was coming from.

She knew that Daniel could not help himself. He had probably been shaken from her coma. She recalled that his first wife was killed and softened a lot.

“Fine,” Anya said, her voice filled with surrender, “I will look around.”

Hearing this, Daniel could not help relaxing a bit. He took her head to lead her around.

“Then let me help you,” Daniel said, hurrying to guide her around. “Let me try.”

Did he know anything about female clothes? No. But he still wanted to pick a few outfits for

her.

With those words hanging in the air, Daniel led Anya back down to the grand stairs, where the army of personal shoppers still awaited her selection.

She may have been a bit resistant before, but Anya found herself drawn to the racks of clothes -the vibrant colors and luxurious fabrics–a welcome distraction from the tings that had been going through her mind for a while.
