The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 111

Chapter 111: Lles

In Angelo City, Christopher took a drag of his cigar and stared down at a building below. His phone rang. It was Daniel

“Are you ready? Why did you stall?” Christopher asked. Even though what they were about to do was no more a distraction, they still decided to do it. They were going to attack the Dark Hand building in Angelo City.

“Justin was inside. He needed time to leave,” Daniel said, and Christopher paused.

Justin? He was in there?

“He is a traitor; let him die inside!” Christopher declared.

“He is my spy,” Daniel said, and Christopher went quiet.

“You should have said something; what if we mistakenly killed him?” Christopher scolded his

son.

“We have confirmed one thing, though. The leader of the Dark Hand is inside. Light it up, dad,” Daniel instructed.

“Gladly,” Christopher said with a wide grin and ended the call.

He nodded to his men. “Release the gas,” he ordered.

On the building below, people moved without knowing what was soon to happen.

A block away, a gas tank drove into a back alley and men jumped out. They connected thank tank to the air conditioning systern in the Dark and building and perped severd themed liters of odorless gas straight into the building block away

Within minutes, the gas had spread. And as though designed by fate, someone in the bushing lit a match to light their cigar, and the building ploded.

On the other side of the city, Hazel and her mother stepped out of the restaurant, feeling, refreshed. They had never quarreled with the family this way before.

“Mom, what do you mean by elder daughter? What other daughter?” she asked.

“Before I met your father, I was married to some vagrant. I barely saw him. We had a daughter, Anya. Don’t think too much. I will handle everything,” Shaina refused to go deeper

into it.

“Why do you mean don’t think too much? Suddenly, another daughter?” Hazel asked heatedly.

“I was planning to escape when I recalled he had a safe in a bank and wanted to go see what was inside. When. I went; they said I could not claim the safe, but I could access it since it has not been claimed since that man died. The only other person who claims it is the daughter we had. They kept calling that girl Mrs. Shaw,” Shaina said.

“Mrs. Shaw?”

“Do you know what this means? She married into the Shaw family. That is one of the biggest families in Italy,” Shaina said excitedly.

“But..” Hazel hesitated. This was a super they had never met.

“But nothing. It is time for mother and daughter to meet again,” Shaina declared.

Choper

Hazel did not have time to question her mother when the hospital called to tell her that the patient she brought in had woken up.

She recalled that she had left her contact and ID, so she rushed back to the hospital.

Just talking to the nurse, she started feeling irritated. The hospital bill was handed to her.

“What am I to do with this?” Hazel asked.

“And you will need to give the police a statement,” the nurse said, slightly distracted.

“Statement?” Hazel asked.

“If you are a family member, then we can have the patient pay when he is stable. As a family, you just need to stay while he makes a statement. If you are. A witness,” the nurse started to explain.

“Family. I am family. His wife,” she said. The nurse glanced at her doubtfully. But Hazel stood her ground. She did not want to be involved in so much trouble right now. Her mother had said she had a powerful sister. She could not get into trouble before they could meet her.

“Then, wait while the patient is changed, and then you can go in,” the nurse instructed before leaving.

Hazel only had to wait five minutes before she could go inside.

She paused at the door to take a few breaths and arrange her thoughts before cautiously opening the door to peek into the room at the man on the bed. He put down the magazine he was holding and rested his eyes on her.

All her alarm bells went off. She should not have come.

“Do come inside, Dear Wife,” the man inside said. It seems her lie had already made it’s way to his ears in only five minutes.

Mathias stared at the woman frozen by the door with interest. He had not thought that he would wake up in the hospital one day with a wife. His eyes trailed across her brown shoulder- length hair to her face. Hazel straightened out and walked into the room. She had only stepped in when Doctor Elio walked in with an army of doctors. Their entrance overwhelmed her.

“Mrs. Giorgio, you have arrived,” Dr. Elio greeted Hazel the moment he walked in, and the army of doctors behind followed suit. They were so respectful that Hazel was not sure how to react, so she fell into her subconscious blank face–an expression she carries when she is under pressure.

“Mr. Giorgio is recuperating just fine. He will need to be here for a while so that we can watch him, but he is all around just fine,” Doctor Elio addressed her.

“I see,” Hazel responded vaguely. “His injuries won’t affect his life, will they?” she asked. She hoped that she would not be roped in to take the blame.

“No, he is set to make a full recovery,” Dr. Elio answered, and she nodded.

“Thank you,” she said, and they all slowly left the room. Soon, only she and Mathias were left inside.

“You remember what happened yesterday, right?” she asked.

“No, I seem to have lost my memory,” he answered, and her eyes widened.

“What? They said you were fine!” Hazel exclaimed. If he lost his memory, how was she supposed to pay for this VIP treatment? The man was put in VIP.

“Don’t worry too much about the wife thing. They wanted to call the police with whom I brought you in, and well, since I am not a stranger or witness, I don’t need to take the blame. Somehow it developed to us being married. You can just handle the rest while I leave.”

“You are not very smart, are you?” Mathias asked, “What makes you think family can’t be blamed?” he asked, and she thought about it. Why did she think differently?

“Anyway, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to

but I don’t want to see the police,” she said.

“Why?” His eyes narrowed. He suspected that she was from a rival family. Why would she weave such a scenario? What did she want to get out of this situation?

“It doesn’t matter why. Just take note; if you want to report what happened to you last night, you can’t involve me.” Hazel brushed off his question.

“You knew my name was Giorgio; you told people you were my wife and even got me in this VIP suit. If you a

that you did not have an ulterior motive, who would believe it?” He asked, and she paused, her eyes looking at him in astonishment and later on anger.

“Are you crazy? I saw the name Giorgio on your handkerchief. Since I would only need to use my ID when discharging you, I gave your name instead of mine to register you. I thought you would wake up and discharge yourself, and I would never have to do anything,” she fumed.

“And the VIP room?” he asked. His cold eyes only angry her more. Who did he think he was?
