Love or Die: CEO’ s Daily Dose of Swoon (Cordelia)

Chapter 206

Chapter 206

Cordelia paused for a moment, her fingers hovering over her phone screen.

She stepped out onto the balcony, phone in hand, and answered the call. Little Flame's voice came through, "Lia, up for a game?"

Cordelia blinked in surprise. "Uh?"

Little Flame sounded subdued as he spoke. "Let's go solo. I'll teach you how to master the shooter role."

Cordelia hesitated before replying, "Alright."

Glancing at the clock, it was already 9 PM-prime gaming hour for her.

The ride to Ontoky City had been smooth in the spacious, comfortable family van, giving her the chance to breeze through her math problems. She wasn't planning on cracking open her books tonight anyway.

After ending the call, she returned to her dorm room, receiving curious glances from her three roommates. "Bookworm, hitting the books? We'll keep it down."

Cordelia shook her head. "No, I'm going to game for a bit."

Her roommates exchanged puzzled looks.

Cordelia took her seat, plugged in her earphones, and launched the game.

As she navigated through the game's menu, she could hear her roommates whispering amongst themselves, speculating about her sudden interest in gaming over studying, especially since she had already secured her scholarship. They resigned themselves back to the practice papers provided by the Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp, hoping to at least offer Cordelia their completed assignments as a gesture of support.

In-game, Cordelia and Yates opted for the same character roles. Yates, the adept shooter, typed out instructions, guiding her through the basics. Cordelia was a quick study, matching Yates in skill after just a few rounds.

Two hours flew by, and Cordelia finally bested Yates in a solo match. Pleased with herself and the challenge, she decided it was time to call it a night. She messaged Little Flame: "I'm done for tonight."

Little Flame replied: "Okay."

A sudden thought crossed her mind, and she asked, "You headed back to Greenmeadow?"

"On the road," he confirmed.

Knowing he was safe with two drivers taking turns, she wished him well and put away her phone.

Stretching, she noticed her

roommates staring at her, their

expressions a mix of awe and

confusion. They had expected her to

dive into her studies post-gaming,

looming. Instead, Cordelia prepared for bed, leaving her roommates in shock.

"Bookworm, planning to study tonight?" they asked, hope lingering in their voices.

"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Cordelia replied, climbing into her bed.

As she settled in, one roommate mentioned the assignments due the next day, hinting at their completed work, ready for Cordelia to review or copy. However, Cordelia, already ahead of the curve, had finished her assignments, leaving her

roommates dumbfounded. Content

Their realization hit hard; Cordelia wasn't just academically gifted-she excelled without apparent effort, challenging their perceptions of hard work and talent.

On the highway, Yates, feeling the

effects of an empty stomach and a beer, reflected on his gaming session with Cordelia. Despite his prowess and years of experience; Cordelia had matched and eventually outplayed him, shaking his confidence and proving her exceptional adaptability and skill.

He hung his head low, typing out the words: So why, if he didn't want me five years ago, does he still not want me now?

No sooner had he typed it out than he froze.

Staring at the screen, the words seemed almost pitiful. He deleted them, one by one, then leaned back in his chair, feeling utterly ridiculous.

He knew the team was short of an archer, so he practically threw himself across the country to offer his services. He even made it clear he was willing to try out for the team, but the guy didn't even ask him a single question.

What was it about him that was so repulsive?

Yates closed his eyes, suddenly speaking up, "Take the next exit to turn around."

Cordelia got up, grabbed breakfast at the diner, and finally made her way to the classroom.

Somehow, word had gotten out about her gaming spree the previous night. The moment she walked in, she was greeted by Queenie's sardonic tone: "Spent the night gaming, did we? Let's see how well you do on today's test, then."
