CHAPTER TWENTY
Jace leaves but immediately returns to bring Margot’s clothes. After Margot changed her dress, Jace also left. So Margot and I stayed in Maggie’s room. Jace also brought me a shirt so I was able to change. I let Margot sleep while I was sitting next to Maggie’s bed. I stared at her while holding her face.
I know that Maggie is a nice woman. I know how good she is and I proved that when we were together as a couple. I just sent too much of my anger so I was able to tell her that. But I regret that.
I want to apologize to her. And if it was necessary for me to kneel and beg so she would just forgive me I would. I want her. I missed her. I want her to be my wife again but I don’t know where and how to start?
If I listen to her that night and I let go of my anger. I know we are ok right now. All of this would not have happened and the baby would not have been lost. I don’t know if she is aware that she is pregnant. But I doubt she knew anything. Because if she is. She will not abuse her body. I am sure of that.
She’s peacefully sleeping. But even when she was asleep, the pain she had gone through could still be seen on her face.
The door opened and Dylan came in. He looks like he’s going home because the clothes he’s wearing are different. I stood up as he approached Maggie and held Maggie by the forehead. He didn’t ask questions or even talk a little. Maggie moves and opens her eyes. She look at me and Dylan and then to Margot’s sleeping but she ignored.
“What are they doing here?” she asked as if I wasn’t here. Margot also woke up and approached her.
“I just came from home to get dressed and they took care of you.”
“Mag, I am worried about you,” Margot said.
“Leave, I don’t need you. Let them go and I don’t need them, next time call the nurse.” Dylan looked at me but did not speak.
“They’re just worried about you.”
“Then, I am ok now.” Then she turned away.
“Mag, can we talk?” I ask.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
“I don’t want to talk to anyone except Dylan.”
“Please, Mag,” I beg. She turned to me and looked at Dylan.
“I’ll be outside,” Dylan said and Margot followed him as well.
“Hurry up, I want to rest.”
“Do you have any idea that you are pregnant?”
“What did you say?”
“Your 5 weeks pregnant —”
“How’s my baby?”
“It’s gone.” I heard her sigh but I saw no pain. She was sad, yes, but after that, she also calm.
“I will assume that you have no idea about the pregnancy.”
“You think I would ruin my life if I knew I was pregnant? I know I am stupis but I know how to care of my baby.”
“That’s not what I mean, Mag.”
“Is that all you want to say? You can leave.”
“I am sorry.” She looks at me. I see the sadness in her eyes but she just smiled. “What happened to our baby is all my fault.”
“I want to blame you, but nothing will change. Everything is not going well and the baby will never come back.”
“Mag, please forgive me.” I cried and hold her hand. “I am sorry. I am begging you, let’s fix this.”
“I begged you to stay, I kneel, cried and begged, did you listen? Now you’re asking me for something you weren’t able to give?”
“I am hurt at the time, I don’t know what to do. I’m so confused by what happened to us.”
“And so do I. But because I love you I chose to feel sorry for you but you still hurt me. Then now you will come back as if nothing happened?”
“You don’t love me anymore?” She did not answer and averted her gaze. “Mag?”
“I’m happy. I don’t need you anymore, Blaze.”
“But I want you. I need you.”
“I wish you all the happiness. Let’s separate our way, Blaze, for both of us to be happy.”
“Mag,”
“Thank you for everything. And I am sorry if I hurt you.”
“Is it that easy, Mag?”
“Yes, and even if you kneel, and cried. I won’t come back to you again.”
“Mag?”
“Please, give me my freedom so I can be truly happy.” I cried when she said that.
“I will miss you, Mag.” But she did not answer and turned her back on me.
“Thank you and goodbye, Blaze, leave.” I could do nothing but stand up and leave her.
