Chapter 598
Both of them were frightened out of their wits as the distinct sound of heavy footsteps smashed in. It was an instantaneous gentlemanly act for Frederick to cover the naked Alicia with the blanket. As he tried to grab his pajamas, the duo was instantly hit by a flash of blinding light. In a split second, he shouted furiously in anger.
"What are you all doing in here!?"
He instinctively lowered his head as he raised his hands to cover his eyes from the stark light. It was the moment when Candice walked through the front crowd with a disastrously topsy-turvy scene falling before her very eyes. As she flounced into the room, she snapped out, for she had never been more sure to teach them a lesson!
"What do you think I'm here for? No one will speak up for Alicia if it's not me! Ingratitude comes for you but not for me, young man! Oh my goodness, this is all my fault. I could have stopped this vixen from seducing you before it's too late!
"I have to say, I'm already one foot in the grave, up in years to watch your back for any longer! And clearly, I have no say in your decisions! However, I can't leave things unresolved when it isn't right! In all conscience, I've got to set things right, no matter if Alicia is dead or alive!" "Poor Alicia! She was such a sweetheart to look after me night and day when I was ill. She looked like a skeleton during those sleepless nights, and don't forget, she nearly lost her life to save yours! Why can't you see past the end of your nose and start appreciating her as your wife! This isn't how a newly-wed man should act! I would be so ashamed even after death if I do nothing about this now, Frederick!
Candice teared up as flashbacks of Alicia came to her mind.
"Look at yourself, Frederick. You're completely lured by this vixen! Even if it causes me to lose the Clements family's reputation, this vixen who is hiding under the blankets should be given a rap on the knuckles!
Frederick was obviously stunned when he saw his grandmother stomping into the room. On the other hand, an enraged Candice rushed to the bed before anyone realized,
"Grandma, wait!"
At full tilt, Frederick kept Alicia hidden behind him and he mumbled anxiously, "Grandma, it's..." It's Alicia!
"How dare you try to defend her!? After so many years of proper education, I've really raised you for
nothing!"
Utterly disappointed with him protecting the woman on the bed, Candice was struck by a feeling of dizziness. Frederick gave her a hand before she fell to the ground.
"Grandma..."
"Don't you dare call me your grandmother!" Candice yelled with anger as she flung off Frederick's hand.
It was time when the blinding flashlights of photography came into the scene. Federick was totally speechless as he shouted, "Stop shooting! Don't try to mess with me here!"
A thunder- like shout dropped in the room and everything went into complete silence.
Under the blanket was an embarrassed yet touched Alicia, trying her best to get herself properly dressed in her pajamas. She wrapped herself tightly with the corner of the blanket, and little by little, she wormed out half of her head from beneath the blanket. It was then that she swiftly swept her gaze across the room and looked in the direction of Candice. She awkwardly murmured.
"Grandma, it's me..."
After all, there was a swarm of people in the room when she wasn't in her most presentable state.
She bashfully moved behind Frederick before any wardrobe malfunctions happened.
"Ah!"
Paula was the first to get a grasp of it, "Miss Blan... Mistress!"
'Miss Blanchard' was at the tip of her tongue. After all, she was an educated person. She could handle any situation naturally despite the bolt in the blue. However, it was too late for her to make up for it this time. In an instant, it was like a bomb falling from the sky. Everyone was breathing heavily with much curiosity,
"Huh!?"
Chet hurriedly rushed to the hotel room as soon as he got a message from Levi. He couldn't get his head on straight with what he saw. "What's going on? Is that Miss Blanchard?"
"Aren't they legally married as husband and wife? Ah, yes... Did we make a mistake on this? Gosh, I have literally broadcasted them to the media! What should we do now? Are we getting into trouble?"
"Who on earth is she for real?"
The room was filled with chattering voices but it became much quieter than before. Frederick took a glance around with cold eyes and he yelled furiously.
"What are you all still doing here? Get out of this room now! Are you waiting for my lawyer's letter?"
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Clements!"
"Geez, let's get out of here right now!"
Everyone left the room at once. As they came to their senses, Chet promptly hinted at Paula by a wink and said, "Mrs. Clements, let's make a move and talk about it outside."
After everyone was dispersed from the scene, Chet gave a quick look into the room. He politely closed the door after making sure things were alright.
Frederick realised that the bottom of

his body was stiffly frozen. He was only able to examine the mess in the room with the corner of his eye. Anger was running through his body. He turned around to see a curled up Alicia. Combing her silky hair with her hands, he sighed helplessly,
"Are you alright?"
It had been a hectic schedule for him the past few days. No one would have seen that Candice would get him into such trouble! He would have given her a call to clarify things if he knew this was coming!
"You must be extremely frightened, aren't you? There must be some misunderstandings with Grandma, so don't take it personally, alright? It's all my fault..." Frederick held Alicia closely as he pulled up the blanket around her to calm her down.
To be honest, it was embarrassing to be in those situations. However, more to it was a heart of appreciation and gratitude, especially with Candice's speech that defended a 'late' Alicia!
She was deeply touched by it. Once again, she felt that her love for Candice and Frederick was worth it. This meant a great deal to her

resentment. It was a helpless
moment that showed a world of
difference from now!
"Of course not! You wouldn't leave me be anyway, not to mention Grandma, she really cares for me! And I am really grateful forthat! Now, hurry up and put on your clothes, there is a crowd of people waiting outside!
There was a sense of ambiguous romance radiated in the air. After all, the love birds did just get out of the shower! Alicia would be really embarrassed to face everyone if they forced into the hotel room half an hour earlier!
"Mhm..."
Frederick got onto his feet, put on his pajamas, and locked the door before getting Alicia some clothes. He guarded her dearly by her side, making sure that she had everything dressed before he did his proper change.
He turned around to her back and
zipped up her dress for her. He gently held her hand as she got out of bed after she was completely dressed up. After a detail- checking through her attire, he wrapped her
tightly with his very own coat and gave her a soft pinch on her rosy cheeks. He held her hands and spoke.

"You don't have to be shy. We are husband and wife, and that's normal!"
He kissed her on the back of her hand as he smiled faintly, "I love you no matter what happens, and there's nothing to hide from anyone!"
She gave him a stare and pinched him fiercely, "I'm not as thick-skinned as you are, Frederick! Let's solve what's before us now!
He really has no shame!
At a split second, he opened the door and pulled her with him out of the room. She tilted her head downwards and rolled her eyes.
By the time they got to the hall, the outsiders had already been dispersed by Chet. By the sofa sat Candice, feeling completely confused and surprised by what happened earlier...
