Chapter 597
Clutching onto the notebook in her hands, Alicia burst into tears as she sobbed, "Aunt Freya, sob..."
"Why? Why would she punish herself for the mistakes others have made? Why would she end her life?" She thought. She whined as her heart ached even more. How strong was her hatred for her to leave them in such a decisive way?
Frederick held her tightly in his arms. Without saying a word, he bent down his head and gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"Is this all real, Hubby? Did Aunt Freya really kill herself? I never thought that something wasn't right when she asked me to run some errands out of the blue, but now I see. No wonder she prepared a table full of food and had a heart-to-heart talk with me. I couldn't forget the push that she gave me when I tried to rescue her during the fire! Instead, she was running towards the fire! She didn't want to hurt me... And that's why she tried so hard to get me out of the house..."
"Oh, Aunt Freya... She's dead now. She killed herself just for a scumbag..." She wept miserably.
Alicia came to an absolute point of breaking down as she cried her eyes out in grief. In the end, she sobbed herself to sleep in Frederick's arms. That very night was a toss-and-turn sort of night for her, strangled by endless nightmares. She groaned and whined, heartbroken, from time to time throughout her sleep. In her dreams, there was fighting and screaming, as though a drowning person was struggling in torment and pain.
At the crack of dawn, Frederick was again awakened by the swing of a hand. Her aggravated frown caught his gaze at the very moment he opened his foggy eyes. She wrapped herself up like a shrimp, stiffly struggling, as if she was making every effort to break the cage that she'd been bound by.
He nestled her in his arms from the side, just like wheedling an insecure baby to peace. Gently, he patted her at the side of her back to ease her pain. Bit-by-bit, her struggling was gradually soothed.
A gentle smile then appeared at the corner of his lips as Frederick fiddled with a strand of her hair by the ear. The gaze in his eyes appeared to get stagnant, seemingly being captivated by a powerful source of maic energy.
As Alicia looked up at him, what she saw was something that set her mind at ease. Below the long, archly curved lashes blinked a pair of dazzling half-squinted eyes. She wrapped her fair smooth arms around his neck as she threw herself onto his chest, speaking in a shy and bashful tone,
"Good morning, Hubby."
The atmosphere in the room bloomed into a storm of erotic intimacy with a romantically passionate kiss dropping at the very moment.
The scene moved to the Clements family home, where Mrs. Clements just came back from her usual morning stroll. She saw that Paula and the butler were whispering at the end of the corridor. Levi, the butler, was anxiously rubbing his hands, speaking with an obvious sense of hesitation,
"Do we have to inform Mrs. Clements about this? At such a time so early in the morning?"
"And what were you up to last night? Haven't you noticed anything fishy, especially when Master Frederick has already stayed in the hotel for days!" Paula exclaimed as she rolled her eyes at Levi grudgingly.
He should have said so last night. How were they supposed to catch them red-handed so early in the morning?
"Although you asked me to keep an eye on Master Frederick, you didn't mention it to be done intentionally, did you? I don't think that woman will be at the hotel everyday. Even if she went there, that doesn't mean that she will be staying overnight too! What if they left way before we got there? Plus, it was ten last night when I received the call. Mrs. Clements was already asleep in bed. Was I supposed to wake the poor lady up and head to the hotel to catch them in bed?"
It was Master Frederick who paid for his salary! Even though he did specifically instruct them to obey Mrs. Clements' orders as long as she doesn't get upset.
"Geez, this woman really went beyond limits! She doesn't even look at who she is. To my surprise, she had absolutely no shame to be present at the hotel. Don't you tell me that she's dangling Master Frederick... Is she!"
"What do you think then? Women who go to nightclubs are practically gold-diggers. I don't see which of them aren't like leeches, hanging around and asking for money! But then again, Master Frederick doesn't seem to be someone she can pester with, right! Alas... Just like what we always say, don't wash your dirty linen in public... So, do we really have to inform Mrs. Clements about this?"
Levi was in a dilemma with the need to please everyone in the room.
"Am I not trying to figure this out now? It'd be a bother to Mrs.
Clements if we ever told her about it. She might touch on this matter
sooner or later! On the flip side, things might get ugly with Master Frederick if we tell her now. After all, the Peninsular Hotel is regularly crowded with hotel guests and people are watching! Gosh... Why would Master Frederick get himself involved with such a nondescript woman?"
"No... Don't even mention it! One of the observers said this woman is a
beauty that eyes can't deny! I've heard that she's an independent woman who owns a business, drives fancy cars, and even lives in her own apartment. She doesn't seem like a person who runs short of cash. Dancing was probably a hobby to kill time. Not only that, she calls off any socializing with strangers. For the most part, she rejected all the customers! I've even heard gossip saying she was in a relationship with Mr. Nick! But some say they aren't. Oh right, rumors also said that there was once when Mr. Clements got into a fight with Mr. Nick because of her! But the trio is now in good condition. Mr. Clements does sometimes hang out at Heaven Star Clubhouse to support the business too! So... It might not be as
complicated as we see now..."
Standing by the side of the flower bed, Candice burst out in anger as she overheard their choppy conversation. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
"This... This isn't complicated, you
are saying? Now let me tell you, this
is terribly serious! What's so great
about this woman who gets Frederick to stay in a hotel rather than his own home? She's just another woman who knows nothing but seducing men! And how could both of you try to hide such a big mess from me! Goodness, staying in the hotel instead of coming home? This young woman is a complete prodigal who knows nothing other than enjoying a greedy and selfish life! It's now or never! We must head over to the hotel now! I'd really like to see how much of a beauty she is! Call up the reporters! I want to expose the hideous act this
shameless woman has done!"
Things had gone completely upside down!
Frederick's obsession with this woman must not be left unresolved! She couldn't be here forever for her son, and when the time came for her, his life would be thoroughly ruined by this woman!
Driven furious by this matter, Candice moved like a cheetah to her room and got herself changed. She then dashed off briskly without a single word and headed straight to the Peninsular Hotel.
The Clements family raised a furor as soon as they reached the hotel entrance. None of the hotel attendants were brave enough to stop Candice, especially when she's engulfed with rage. The receptionist soon handed over Frederick's spare room card and led her to his room.
Back in the hotel room. The love birds were engaging in sweet talk on the bed after taking a hot steamy bath. Alicia gave Frederick a hard pinch when he reached out his hands and fondled her body.
"Stop it, Hubby, I am feeling exhausted... And since Aunt Freya's death was caused by herself, can you accompany me to her funeral later today? It would be a great relief to me!"
With her aunt being brought up in the conversation, her expression became sorrowful. "Do you think we will bump into that jerk? I feel sorry for my poor Aunt Freya... She had worked so hard her whole life... And this is how things ended up for her!"
Knowing that Alicia was feeling depressed at this moment, Frederick silently brushed her hair as he gently nodded in agreement, "Perhaps we wouldn't be two worlds apart if Aunt Freya handled it in another way. I'll definitely get her the justice that she deserved!"
Those who were pitiful must have a cause for having sunk to their low! But it was her aunt whom they were talking about. It was a hard line for him to say it out to her without feeling guilt in him. Freya's well-planned ending of her life had almost ruined his marriage in some way.
Alicia seemed to read his thoughts as they shared a glance with each other. She touched his chin with her hands.
"You know what, Hubby. We wouldn't be here to appreciate this undying love of ours if all of these never happened. Also, I wouldn't know that this proud and arrogant Mr. Clements lying in front here would have such strong affection towards me!"
All the struggles and hardships were worth it, even though it wasn't easy at all. And for most, she was grateful for what she had now!
A smile slipped through the edge of his lips. Leaning against her forehead, he slowly dropped an amorous kiss. It was a kiss that spoke of the cherish and lament they both shared. As the fondness blossomed between the duo, there came a sudden loud slam from the outside...
