Chapter 257
Chapter 257
Coralie was discharged from the hospital after two weeks. Her right hand could hardly move after being
shot by Skylar. She could not carry heavy objects as well. If she wanted it to function normally in the
future, she had to do physiotherapy consistently.
Coralie was very distressed as she was right-handed. She had no choice but to use her left hand to
carry out her daily life, and this included writing, holding her phone, and carrying different items.
After Coralie was discharged, Yohan removed her leg-cuffs and brought her to meet his family.
Coralie followed Yohan to the Watson family's mansion once again. However, she felt as if she was led
into a bottomless abyss in which she would never leave this place again after going in.
Yohan held her hand as they walked all the way to the innermost room on the first floor. They pushed
open the retro wooden door, revealing everything in the room.
Coralie saw that there were three people sitting in the room, two of whom she already knew. One was
Yohan's stepfather, Mr. Watson, while another one was Yohan's mother, Lydia.
"Dad, Mom, Dylan, this is my wife, Coralie."
Yohan held Coralie inside to greet the people in the room.
The way Yohan introduced her as his wife made Coralie cringe. She hoped it was Skylar, who was
holding her hand and introducing her to his family at this moment.
Unfortunately, she knew that it was impossible to happen.
Lydia was wearing an elegant gown, looking graceful. She immediately stood up happily when she saw
Coralie. She held Coralie and said, "Coralie, I haven't seen you for years. You're all grown up now.
You're getting prettier."
"Auntie Lydia, you too. You haven't aged a day."
Coralie replied to Lydia with a smile. However, there was no genuine happiness from within.
Lydia held Coralie's hand and then took her to Yohan's stepfather, Mr. Watson. "Honey, Yohan has
been fond of her since he was young."
"I see."
Mr. Watson raised his head and glanced at Coralie. Although he was smiling, like Coralie, his gaze was
cold.
It seemed that he was completely not concerned about who Yohan would marry.
However, Coralie could understand his disinterest. After all, Yohan was his stepson.
"Dylan."
Yohan walked toward the other man in the room before he turned to Coralie, "This is my eldest brother,
Dylan."
"Hello."
Dylan Watson stood up and greeted Coralie. However, just like Yohan's stepfather, he looked
indifferent.
Judging from his hair color, Dylan must be Mr. Watson's biological son.
"Hi, Dylan."
Coralie greeted courteously.
Just because she was going to stay with Yohan, it didn't mean that she had to build a good relationship
with Yohan's family.
Lydia was the most enthusiastic toward Coralie among them. When she noticed that Mr. Watson and
Dylan were aloof toward Coralie, she raised from her seat immediately and grabbed Coralie's hand.
"Coralie, let me know if anything happens during your stay. I've always been alone here. It's great to
have you here."
Lydia grinned and Coralie returned a smile at her.
After so many things, Coralie could barely smile heartily again. She was just faking it for the sake of
Yohan.
"Let's go."
After a simple introduction, Yohan held Coralie and left the room.
"I saw a painting on the wall. You have two elder brothers, right?"
Coralie was trying to initiate a conversation.
She saw an oil painting in the room a while ago. At a glance, she could recognize the three people in
the painting were Dylan, Lydia, and Mr. Watson. But, there was another boy in the painting. Judging
from its look, that boy must have been older than Dylan and Yohan.
"Yes," Yohan answered flatly.
"Oh." Coralie nodded.
Without Coralie asking any further questions, Yohan answered her thoughts. He told her what had
happened to the missing boy.
"But he's dead."
He said it so very casually. Coralie thought it was supposed to be a sad memory hence she did not
continue this conversation.
......
Now that Coralie had been officially requested by Yohan to 'incorporate' herself in the Watson family,
the very first thing she had to learn is etiquette. In S Country, there were a lot of expectations for the
noble family. Although Coralie wasn't expected to wear a corset, her behavior and speech must meet
the standard of nobility.
Yohan employed a tutor for Coralie. She had to spend at least eight hours learning the etiquettes.
Classes included various forms of mannerism, conversation etiquette, the way she walked, and how
she greeted others. She even had to learn how to smile.
Coralie was born in an ordinary family. That was a torture for her.
One of the classes was about afternoon tea. Coralie was asked to put a book on her head while sipping
coffee. She had to finish the cup of coffee without dropping the book.
Furthermore, as Coralie's right hand had not recovered yet, she had to use her left hand. Given the fact
that she was not used to using her non-dominant hand, the book would still fall from her head even
after one week of training. Every time she dropped it, the tutor would lash her forearm with a whip. By
the end of the day, her forearm would always be bruised and swollen.
During Coralie's stay in S Country, apart from accompanying Lydia and Yohan, all she did was to learn.
In the blink of an eye, a year was over.
Over that year, Yohan spent most of his time in A Country. He was only in S Country for a few months.
Coralie did not feel that she was Yohan's wife. Yohan had never done anything with her apart from
kissing.
Moreover, during the time Yohan spent with Coralie, Coralie could tell that Yohan had let down his
guard toward her. Most of the time, he acted like how they were when they were a child. Perhaps it was
because Yohan knew that Coralie would never run away again.
One day, when Coralie left the room after the lessons, she saw Yohan standing at the door in a grey
suit.
"You're back."
Seeing him, Coralie naturally greeted.
They both did not seem like a pair of newly-weds who was finally reunited after a long separation.
"Yes," Yohan answered, grinning happily. He reached out to hold Coralie's hand and said, "My brother's
death anniversary is tomorrow, so they asked me to come back here."
"Oh."
Coralie nodded but did not say anything else.
Yohan held her and pouted like a child, whining, "Alas, I hate visiting the graveyard. I don't want to go NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
there. I just feel like sleeping at home."
For more than half a year, Yohan had been speaking to Coralie in that manner when they were with
each other. He liked behaving in this way in front of Coralie.
"Why don't I persuade Lydia to make it a pass for you? I'll go on your behalf."
Yohan's eyes sparkled. "Really?"
"Yes, you should take a rest since you're back."
Sometimes, loooking at Yohan, Coralie would think of Wayne.
After settling down in S Country, she had contacted Wayne and Hera. However, all they did was video-
call each other. Occasionally, they would chat on WhatsApp. However, Yohan never allowed Coralie to
visit A Country.
"Okay."
Yohan nodded.
After dinner, Coralie told Lydia that Yohan wasn't going to go to the graveyard the next day with them.
Lydia, who usually went along with Yohan's wishes, immediately replied with a serious look, "No!"
"Why? Must he attend?"
Coralie was a little stunned. Lydia had always been a happy-go-lucky person and would always agree
with others' requests.
Even if she did not see eye to eye with Coralie, she would always tactfully reject Coralie. Never did she
rebuff Coralie so blatantly.
"He should go." Lydia held Coralie's hand and sighed, "Coralie, I have always felt sorry for Yohan.
Thanks to you, he got slightly better this year."
"What do you mean?"
Coralie was a little puzzled. Weren't they talking about visiting the graveyard? Why did she mention she
was feeling sorry toward Yohan?
