Chapter 272
Chapter 272
As Patricia rose from the couch, Isaac did the same. "I'll see you off."
Dang it! I want her to stay and keep me company. He was reluctant to part ways with her, for he wanted her to be his woman.
When they opened the door, Adeline was seen standing at the entrance, evidently dressed up. The moment she saw Isaac wrapping his arm around Patricia's waist, disbelief was written all over her face as she stood rooted to the spot.
Patricia was equally surprised. Why is she here? Displeased, she got out of the man's embrace. When she passed Adeline, she snorted.
Seeing how jealous the woman looked, Isaac couldn't help but smile. "Trish…"
Patricia turned around and pointed her finger at Adeline and then the man, looking as though she was threatening that she wouldn't let him off the hook if the two of them did anything behind her back.
With his eyes brimming with love, Isaac tucked his hands into his pockets and nodded.
Only then did Patricia turn around to leave. Adeline glared at Patricia, her face full of resentment.
After Patricia was gone, Isaac retracted his gaze and said coldly, "What are you doing here, Miss Aniston? Weren't you the one who said we shouldn't come into contact again and disturb each other?"
Now, this woman had disturbed him. Patricia wasn't fond of her, to begin with, and she was probably displeased when she saw this woman at the door.
Adeline finally pocketed her gaze. Does Patricia live here? Did she make that old man buy a house here just to get closer to Isaac? She was pregnant with the kids of a man in his seventies, and here she is putting on a pretense. That's disgusting.
"I happened to pass by this place, so I decided to drop by, Ise. Why is Patricia here? Does she live somewhere nearby?"
There was a hint of disdain on her face as she spoke.
"Don't be fooled by her appearance, Ise. Although she's beautiful and looks like she knows nothing about worldly affairs, she's just putting on a pretense. She became pregnant with an old man's kids when she was only 18. Over the years, she's been living with him. The old man probably bought her the house here."
She thought a woman like Patricia was terrible. Even though she was beautiful, no man would be into her. Why would a man like Isaac want to be with her? All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Adeline combed through her hair with her hand. "Can I come in, Ise?"
As she spoke, she looked somewhere else. When she was shopping around on this day, she came across some friends, and they asked her if she had broken up with Isaac. She explained that it wasn't true, and the wedding had been called off because of several matters.
Seeing that they didn't seem to believe her, she decided to bring them to this place so they could see that she was still on good terms with Isaac. She didn't want anyone to look down on her or mock her. Therefore, she had to show everyone that she and Isaac were still a thing.
Isaac took a look at his watch and turned her down. "It's getting late. Please leave."
He directly closed the door after he finished speaking, and Adeline was furious at that. Fortunately, her friends were far away, so she supposed they had never heard anything. At the very least, Isaac had shown up, so it should be sufficient for her friends to believe her.
She turned around and shuffled forward. At the corner, three women came over and hugged her with smiles.
"You and Isaac are still a thing, Addy. However, who was the woman who left his house earlier? I find her familiar."
She couldn't make out her face as she was too far away from the house.
Adeline arched her brow. "She's her cousin who lives nearby. She visits him frequently."
Then, she lifted her chin, looking proud. "Do you believe me now? Let's go."
The ladies smiled brightly and wrapped their arms around hers.
"When you marry Isaac and become Mrs. Arnold, you must not forget about us, Addy."
