Chapter 244
Chapter 244
Patricia whipped out oseltamivir and put it in a glass of water. "Finish this."
Darcie picked the mug up and took a sip, and then she looked at Patricia with her puffy eyes. "I'm stupid, aren't I? I keep getting duped by men."
Zeke made her believe in love, and she paid the price with her future. She thought she wouldn't get hurt if she just stopped loving, but in the end, another man duped her. He promised he'd give his marrow to Poppy, but now he's gone.
Patricia sat down beside her and wrapped her arm around Darcie's shoulder. "I'd do the same thing for Sylvie, Darcie." The children were their whole world, and they would do anything for them.
She knew Darcie only did everything Percy asked her to because she wanted Poppy to live. Patricia thought Percy would stay true to his word, but he didn't. Guess I misjudged him.
Darcie finished the medicine stiffly, but when she put the mug down, the lady was already cheering herself up.
She spent the last few hours trying to call him, but she couldn't get through to his phone or Messenger.
But when Patricia told her why she couldn't get through to him, she knew it was useless no matter how much she tried to call him. I can't make him do anything if he insists on running from me.
"I'll be seeing Poppy now. I told her she was going to heal up really soon, and she was really over the moon about it. She's gonna be disappointed if she can't undergo the surgery. I need to tell the hospital staff to look for new bone marrow."
She looks so pale, so fragile. Patricia's heart went out for her. Her friend was wallowing in her sadness just a while ago, but now she looked all healed up. She's tough. Patricia heaved a long sigh. Just like her, Darcie was raising her child alone. If they couldn't be strong for their children, then nobody would.
Darcie went and got changed, while Patricia went to stand in front of the french window. She saw the deed and black card on the table. Percy left these for her, but money's not important for Darcie. What's important is Poppy.
She called Isaac, but he didn't pick up the first time. He must be mad that I left so unceremoniously. What a proud guy. She called him again, and this time, he picked it up. "What is it?" he asked coldly.
Patricia could tell that he was in his car. Probably on his way home. "Please, President Arnold, if you can get in touch with Percy, tell him that Darcie is really sad after he left. Poppy is her world, just like how my children are my world. If Poppy dies, Darcie can't go on living either."
That was the truth, but she also wanted to scare Percy by bringing up the possibility that he might never see her the next time he came back. He slept with her. Guess he must like someone like Darcie.
A frown knitted Isaac's brows. He knew that Patricia loved her children a lot, and he could understand why Darcie couldn't live without Poppy. "I'll pass the message to him if I can get in touch with him."
Patricia was happy to hear that. "Thank you, President Arnold!" I knew I liked him for a reason. He's really kind.
Her happiness made him happy as well. "So where's my sweater, Patricia? Winter's almost over." Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Whoops. Forgot all about it. She stuck her tongue out. "I'll pick up the pace. When's your birthday?"
