You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 82

As the box opened, Freya’s expression revealed obvious surprise. It seemed unexpected, yet overly shocking. Freya was shocked by what he had given her.

“You…”

“Do you like it?” Elijah asked.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

Freya nodded, but the item was quite valuable, and she hesitated to accept it. Moreover, she was currently not working at the hospital.

She reached out and touched the dull surface of the knife. It was a set of surgical tools with special blades, thin as cicada wings yet extremely tough, providing stability and sharpness. It was said that when this knife cut through the skin, there was no pain for the first few seconds due to its extreme sharpness.

Elijah had indeed catered to her preferences.

But no good deed goes unpunished.

This set cost several hundred thousand. Freya couldn’t accept it. She closed the box. “It’s too valuable.”

“As long as you like it,” Elijah said. “If you don’t take it, does that mean you won’t accept my goodwill?” Elijah looked at her. It felt a bit like forcing a gift.

Freya didn’t know if he would get angry if she said she couldn’t accept it.

Reluctantly, she accepted, “Thank you.”

Elijah’s eyebrows visibly relaxed. He had a bit of compensation for Freya. Knowing that Izzy Green almost kidnapped her and falsely accused her of assault, Freya was the victim. But he didn’t seek Freya’s consent when deciding on this matter–he handled it on his own. If he hadn’t pursued it, he would have been feeling a debt to her. But Freya didn’t know his thoughts. All she knew was that he had inexplicably given her an expensive gift.

During dinner, Linda walked in from outside and said, “Madam, there are many stars tonight, visible from the yard.”

Freya looked at Linda. She knew Linda was once again trying to match her and Elijah. Linda was relentless.

Freya replied, “Okay.”

After dinner, she followed Linda’s suggestion and went to the yard to see the stars.

Elijah stood by her side.

Freya asked, “Where did you find Linda?”

“It’s said that she had an abusive husband. Once, he almost killed her, and my mother saved her. She has been our housemaid ever since. After my parents passed away, and I moved out, she came with me, taking care of my daily life.”

Freya understood. No wonder Linda was so loyal and caring towards Elijah. There was a life-saving grace involved.

“Does she have a child with her abusive husband?” asked Freya.

Elijah thought for a moment. “I vaguely remember my mom mentioning once that Linda has a daughter.”

Freya looked melancholy.

Linda had such a past.

She decided to treat Linda even better in the future.

Elijah couldn’t help but laugh. She was a child who wasn’t loved by her own father, yet she sympathized with others.

“You’d better worry about yourself!” Elijah teased, pulling his lips.

Freya gave a cold snort. “You’re heartless.”

“To whom?” Elijah lowered his gaze.

Freya glanced at him, quickly retracting her gaze and looking up at the sky. “Look at the stars.”

Elijah also looked up, and his arm naturally draped over her shoulder.

Freya felt him move but didn’t resist. She only sensed the hand that hung naturally by her side slowly curling. From a distance, they indeed looked like a couple, romantically gazing at the stars.

However, all the beauty was shattered by the events of the next morning.

Freya had already left for work in the morning, but she realized she had forgotten her notebook for class and returned halfway. As she passed by the study on the first floor, she noticed a crack in the door. Faint voices could be heard inside. She walked over curiously. Through the crack, she saw the secretary inside.

“The one who wanted to kidnap Freya wasn’t Izzy Green, it was Liora Valentine,” the secretary said. “The people sent by me found the two men responsible for the kidnapping. According to their confession, it was Liora Valentine who wanted to kidnap Miss Stone.”

Hearing this, Freya was extremely shocked.

At the time, Izzy Green was present, and she instinctively thought it was her. Unexpectedly, it was Liora Valentine. However, Freya found it not surprising at the same time. After all, Liora Valentine hated her more than Izzy Green!

Freya wanted to know how Elijah would handle the situation after learning about Liora Valentine’s attempt to kidnap her.

“I know. Don’t tell Freya about this.” Elijah said to the secretary after a long silence.

“Perhaps Miss Stone thought it was Izzy Green. Let’s just let her believe that. Miss Valentine was pregnant before, even though she lost the baby, you can’t harm her for that, can you?” said the secretary.

If Freya was shocked by the previous revelation, this news was another blow.

Liora Valentine was not faking her pregnancy?

She had once pregnant with Elijah’s child?

Now, she seemed to understand why Elijah allowed Liora to go inside and beat up Zane Stone. The reason was that they had truly lost a child because of Zane Stone.

Elijah didn’t want Freya to know about Liora Valentine’s attempt to kidnap her, fearing she might seek revenge on Liora Valentine. He was afraid she might go after her.

Suddenly, Freya felt herself incredibly ridiculous. She actually thought Elijah liked her a bit? She even thought about confessing her pregnancy to him. She even fantasized that if he accepted it, they could continue living like this. Now, thinking about it, her thoughts were extremely foolish. She was gradually lost in his little kindness, for which Freya really wanted to give herself a good slap. If she had really told Elijah about her pregnancy, he would probably have taken her to get an abortion. She actually imagined that Elijah would accept her child. She felt like she had been living in naivety and ignorance!

“Go back.” Elijah’s voice rang out. He was talking to the secretary.

Freya quickly left.

At the door, the secretary saw Freya and said, “Miss Stone, are you going to work?”

Suppressing the turmoil in her heart, Freya calmly answered, “Yes.”

“I happen to have a car. Let me give you a ride.” The secretary said.

Freya could see that the secretary had something to say, so she agreed. Sure enough, after driving for a while, the secretary spoke.

“Mr Silverton knows about Izzy Green framing you and the kidnapping incident. He has pursued the matter. Jasper Green, to apologize, gave Mr Silverton a piece of land in the development zone, and this matter was considered resolved.”

Freya felt a chill in her heart.

So Elijah got benefits and decided not to pursue it anymore? Without even asking her, the person involved? He just made all the decisions? What was she? A tool used for his convenience?

“Miss Stone, don’t misunderstand. Mr Silverton does care about you. He knows you’re a doctor, and he went to great lengths to get an expensive set of surgical knives for you as a gesture of goodwill.”

Freya looked at her, tempted to retort but she refrained. She remained calm and composed, saying, “I know.”

Upon reaching her destination, she got out of the car. Standing on the roadside, she watched the departing vehicle, then lifted her gaze to the sky.

The sun today seemed unusually glaring. It was so bright that it felt like it could blind anyone.
