You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 315 Missing Her A Lot

Evan was puzzled. “What are we doing with the surveillance footage from the auction?”

Elijah turned to look at him, not saying a word. The feeling of oppression swept over Evan. He lowered his head, not daring to ask any more nonsense, and said, “I’ll go get it.”

Since Freya’s death, Elijah had pulled himself together, but the intense workload had taken a toll on him. He now suffered from insomnia and had to take medication every night to fall asleep. He used to be ruthless. But now, even more so. He used to be cold, mostly to others, but relatively “gentle” to his subordinates. But now, he was different.

Xander had already resigned from his position as Elijah’s assistant and he was now stationed in the company. Not because he was scared, but because the current Elijah was too difficult to get along with. The aura around him was always cold and gave off a constant sense of oppression. Working by his side was definitely torture.

Evan had no idea what Elijah was up to, so he could only follow his orders. He returned to the auction house, but at that moment, Eric had just left through the back door. He was a step too late. Eric had thought ahead. To help cover for Freya, Eric had already spoken to the person in charge. If anyone came asking for the surveillance footage from tonight, they were to say that the cameras were broken. Because Eric was a regular customer here and had some acquaintance with the boss, this matter was not difficult to handle.

Therefore, Evan returned empty-handed. He had a worried and distressed look on his face. He hadn’t completed the task, and he didn’t dare to face Elijah. But he couldn’t run away either. He could only brace himself and return to the hotel.

Elijah was wearing a white bathrobe, sitting on the couch. The collar was open, revealing his slender neck, connected to his delicate collarbones. The image created a picture as if it was a sexy and mysterious male protagonist from a comic book coming to life. He leaned back slightly. On the table next to the couch, his daily medication bottle still sat untouched. He hadn’t taken it today.

Evan stepped forward, “Mr Silverton.”

Elijah didn’t even look at him, his voice low, “Bring it.”

Evan had a dejected look on his face, “I couldn’t get it. They said the surveillance was malfunctioning.”

Elijah raised an eyebrow, a hint of an inscrutable emotion flashing across his face as he stared at Evan. Evan felt his body tense up and his hairs stood on end.

“Mr Silverton…”

“Do you think that at a large auction like this, the organizers would allow a surveillance malfunction?” Elijah was angry at Evan’s carelessness because his efficiency was dropping.

Evan felt immense pressure, unable to maintain his usual calmness. It was only now, listening to Elijah’s reminder, that he realized something was amiss. Everything at the auction was of great value, so the organizers would surely be cautious. How could they not have the surveillance fixed immediately if there was a malfunction?

If something went wrong and items were lost, the organizers would suffer a huge loss.

“I’ll go again,” Evan said.

Elijah raised his hand, “Forget it, go rest.”

Evan agreed and quickly left. He didn’t want to stay in that room for another moment. The door closed, and the room fell silent. Elijah faced the floor-to-ceiling window, the bustling night scene outside displaying a vibrant array of colors. The interlacing lights shone through the glass, casting a halo around him, obscuring his face and expression. He raised his hand and pressed his brow. He must be missing her too much, and that was why he connected today’s mention of an ugly woman from Ronan with her. He even absurdly had Evan check the surveillance footage to investigate that woman. He must have lost his mind. He was going crazy with longing for her.

Life without her was unbearable for him. Every minute felt like an eternity.

Freya, Freya…

Her image kept appearing in his mind, over and over again.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

His phone, lying on the table, suddenly vibrated. Elijah glanced at it and saw the text message displayed on the screen.

[Freya is still alive.]
