Chapter 311 Auction
The phone connected quickly. “It’s late at night on your side, isn’t it? Why are you calling at this time? Is something the matter?”
Freya had always been in contact with Sivin. Sometimes he would secretly take photos of Kai and send them to her.
He had just sent her a video of Kai, and now she was calling again, asking for Sivin’s help. It seemed a bit too much trouble for him. But today was Kai’s birthday.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Sivin sensed her hesitation and said, “I told you, I put away everything on your desk for you.”
He didn’t dare to tell her the truth, afraid that Freya would worry; he claimed to have taken care of it for her. Anyway, Freya wouldn’t know what was happening over there.
“I know, it’s not about that. Today is my son’s birthday…” Freya spoke softly.
“It took me over a month to capture that video for you.” Sivin said.
It wasn’t easy to capture Kai on camera. Kai was taken care of by Elowen and Linda, with bodyguards around him. Sivin couldn’t get close.
“Then I won’t bother you anymore.” Said Freya.
Sivin knew his tone of voice wasn’t good, and he sighed, “I’m sorry, I’ve been retired and my mood hasn’t been great. It wasn’t my intention to snap at you.”
“You shouldn’t be at retirement age yet.” Freya said.
Could it be all thanks to Elijah that Sivin was able to retire? Sivin had built up a lifetime of reputation, only to have it destroyed in an instant.
Elijah-he was truly ruthless. He showed no mercy.
Freya seemed to sense something, “Did Elijah find out something and make it difficult for you?”
“No, it’s me who’s tired. It just so happens that I have a bit more time to spend with my family,” Sivin said with his mouth, but his expression didn’t match.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
He looked worn out, tired and haggard. After all, his lifetime of accomplishments were all destroyed.
“Are you doing okay over there?” Sivin changed the subject.
“Well, I’m doing well. Work is going smoothly, and next month I have a paper scheduled to be published.” Freya replied.
“I’ll make sure to read it.” Sivin said.
He always kept a close eye on Freya. Even though it had only been half a year, he was struggling to keep up with Freya’s knowledge and progress.
They exchanged a few more words before hanging up the phone. Freya lay in bed, watching the video Sivin had sent her, even though she had watched it countless times. The video showed Elijah carrying Kai out of the car. In that moment when he stepped out of the car, it was clear. She could see Elijah’s tall figure, sharp features, and even after not seeing him for a few months, he was still himself, enchanting and noble. Kai obediently nestled in his arms, with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. Freya couldn’t help but smile; she knew Kai was doing well with him.
Setting her phone aside, she turned her gaze to the window. The faint moonlight seeped through the curtains, casting a clear light on her face, highlighting the scar on her right cheek. In the moonlight, the wrinkled, reddish scar looked particularly gruesome. Slowly, she closed her eyes. A watery liquid slipped from the corner of her eye, quietly disappearing into the pillow.
In the morning, as she was about to leave, Eric Lowe arrived.
“Will you be back early tonight?” Sivin asked.
Since entering the Mede, Freya had been busy, leaving early and returning late. Eric didn’t have much time to see her. Freya didn’t answer, but instead asked, “Do you need something from me?”
Eric Lowe hesitated for a moment before saying, “Yes, there’s something I need your help with.”
“What is it?” she asked.
“Well, about a month ago, I registered for an auction, and I put down my name and Sacha’s. But now, Sacha’s gone back, and I can’t find a suitable replacement for her.” Eric Lowe explained.
“Can’t you go alone?” Freya asked.
“No, I can’t. If it’s just me, I won’t be able to enter.”
“I might not have the time…”
“I know you’re not busy, it’s not about time.” Eric Lowe saw through her.
Freya took off her mask, revealing the scars on her face, and looked at him, “I’m not really suited for this kind of event.”
“You can wear a mask,” Eric Lowe suggested.
With Eric’s persistence, Freya could only agree, “Okay.”
Eric Lowe smiled, “When it’s time, I’ll pick you up after work.”
Freya gave a soft “Mhm.”
The day went by quickly. Eric Lowe arrived early and waited. When he saw Freya walking out, he rolled down the car window, “I’m right here.”
Freya walked over and got into the car. They were heading to the auction.
