Chapter 243 No Smoke Without Fire
Xander hesitated for a moment and decided not to bring it out.
Ronan probably didn’t expect his computer to be hacked, so he didn’t encrypt anything. Xander found it quickly without needing to crack any passwords. After obtaining it, Xander read the contents first. Now that he had read it and knew Elijah would be angry, he didn’t dare bring it out easily.
“Maybe it’s a misunderstanding?” Xander said.
Elijah’s face instantly darkened.
He didn’t explain, which was fine. Explaining would only reveal the problem. Wasn’t it said that there was no smoke without fire?
“Linda.” Elijah called.
Linda quickly walked over. “Mr Silverton.”
“Bring Kai over.”
“Yes.”
Linda took Kai away. Usually, it was Linda who carried him, and Kai was used to it. When Linda went to the room, Elijah looked at Xander and said, “Bring it.”
Xander hesitated for a moment and placed the copied contents on the table.
“Is there nothing else? Can I leave now?” Xander said.
Elijah glanced at him. “Are you that scared?”
Xander quickly shook his head, explaining, “No, it’s just that I still have things to take care of at the monitoring company. Oh, right, at four o’clock today, you have a video conference.”
Elijah picked up the USB drive and said, “I know.”
Xander lowered his head. “Then I’ll take my leave?”
Elijah didn’t respond, which could be considered as tacit approval. Xander walked out of the room, feeling relieved as he didn’t need to face Elijah anymore.
Elijah walked into the study and inserted the USB drive into the computer interface. He sat on the chair, casually resting his arm. He moved the mouse and opened the content. The surveillance footage left by Ronan had all been edited, removing unnecessary parts. For example, the scene where Freya pounced on him and vomited. Ronan only kept the part where Freya pounced on him, cutting out the vomiting scene. He did this to provoke Elijah. As a result, Freya got angry, so Ronan didn’t send it to Elijah.
However, Elijah Saw it Now. And he saw Ronan holding Freya, who almost fell. Ronan had deleted the beginning and end, focusing on the angle that made it look like an embrace, and the part where he carried her back to the room. Not just Elijah, any man wouldn’t feel good seeing their woman hugging and clinging onto another man. Getting angry was inevitable, especially for proud Elijah.
After finishing watching, Elijah deleted it. He couldn’t just keep this thing and look at it whenever he had nothing to do, right? And then get angry at himself? That was clearly an unwise choice. So he deleted it.
He stared at his phone. This woman, Freya, had a heart as hard as a rock in a latrine, both stinky and hard. She left like that this morning. And she never took the initiative to call him.
Did she really love him?
Elijah sighed, pressing his forehead with force. His mind was filled with Freya, a mixture of anger and helplessness. He picked up his phone, wanting to call Freya, but his pride wouldn’t allow it. Clearly, Freya was in the wrong, getting drunk and hugging and clinging onto another man, shouldn’t she be the one apologizing to him? If he called her first, would it seem like he was rushing? He picked up the phone and put it back down.

At the hospital.
Freya got off the operating table and immediately picked up her phone to check, no missed calls, no unread messages. She resented it. Elijah was angry with her since he couldn’t even take the initiative to contact her. She bit her lip. She had tried hard to explain at the time, but he refused to listen.
Freya checked the time. There were no more surgeries today, so she could leave work earlier. After a day had passed, maybe Elijah wasn’t angry anymore. Sighing, she decided to soften up first, go home earlier to prepare dinner for him, and explain yesterday’s incident.
Her phone suddenly rang, she answered, it was Zane.
“Freya, I need to talk to you, what time do you get off work?”
“Five o’clock.” Freya replied.
“Then I’ll pick you up at the entrance.”
“Okay.”
When it was time to get off work, Freya walked out of the entrance and saw Zane’s car, she walked over.
“Get in, Freya.” Zane said.
“Where are we going? I have something to do, I need to go home earlier, if you don’t have anything important, I’ll just go home first.”
“I do have something, please get in.”
Freya reluctantly opened the car door and got in. Soon, Zane brought her to a high-end restaurant. Freya asked, “Why did you bring me here?”
Then a deep male voice came, “I asked him to bring you here.”
Freya looked in the direction of the voice.
