Chapter 241 Destined
Orion paused in his steps, not looking back. “Don’t ask anything, whatever she said is what it is. In short, it’s my fault.”Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
He had made it clear, and Freya didn’t have anything else to say. She could only say, “Take care, Orion.”
Orion took a deep breath and walked away with long strides. Freya went back to work.
…
The Stone Villa.
Luna was about to leave, packing up her things. Elowen helped out.
“If you miss Freya, come over anytime. Consider this place your home, we have plenty of rooms. I’ll keep a room for you, so you always have a place to stay.” Said Elowen.
All of Luna’s strength crumbled in the warmth of those words. Tears gushed out. She wiped them away forcefully. “Thank you, Aunt Elowen.”
“No worries.” Elowen took her hand and patted it.
“You and Freya are like sisters, and you’ve helped Freya a lot. In my eyes, you’re both my children.” Elowen spoke gently.
Luna couldn’t speak; her words were choked with sobs. She finished packing, and Elowen walked her to the door. Zane had forgotten something at home and came to get it. He saw Luna with her simple luggage and his eyes widened. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going back to Stratos City.” Luna forced a smile. “Next time I have a chance, I’ll treat you to something delicious.”
Zane reached out to pull Luna. “Don’t leave.”
Luna looked at him. “This isn’t my home, I can’t stay here forever. I’m grateful for your care during my time here, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. If there’s an opportunity in the future, I’ll take you in, just like Freya did.”
She joked, “Hopefully, you won’t run away from home again.”
Zane said, “Just stay a little longer.”
Luna replied, “I’ve been staying here for quite a while already, and I have work to attend to.”
Zane didn’t insist on keeping her, so he said, “Then let me drive you.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Zane helped with the luggage. As the car drove away, he asked, “You’re in such a rush to leave, does that mean it’s really over between you two?”
Luna suddenly turned to look at him. “Hey, kid, why do I feel like you’re hoping for me to have a breakup?”
“Heartbroken men aren’t worth your affection,” Zane said.
Luna couldn’t help but chuckle at his remark. “You’re just a kid, what do you know about love? Acting like a love expert.”
Zane retorted, “I’m not a kid anymore. I can handle my own company, and I’ve had my fair share of relationships, you know?”
“Oh, really? Tell me about it,” Luna asked, intrigued.
“About five or six.” Zane replied.
“Are you bragging?” Luna didn’t seem to believe him. And she truly didn’t believe him.
How long has it been since Zane became an adult? Were these relationships from his school days? She was just curious and didn’t take it seriously.
The silence settled in the car. No one spoke. Zane occasionally stole glances at Luna.
Luna, consumed by thoughts of Orion, didn’t notice Zane’s gaze. Even though she tried to appear carefree. This relationship had been so entangled for so long. In the end, it ended in a breakup. She was indeed heartbroken.
Zane comforted her, saying, “Those who didn’t stay with you until the end weren’t meant to be in your life. The ones who stay with you until old age are destined to be there.”
Luna laughed, “You’re quite the smooth talker.”
“Of course,” Zane raised his head, a hint of a proud look on his face.
At the high-speed rail station, Zane could only accompany Luna to the ticket gate. He waved his hand vigorously, “Stay safe and call me when you get home.”
Luna agreed.
…
On the other side.
Elijah investigated the events that took place at the private club that night, but all the surveillance footage was missing. It was clear that someone had tampered with it beforehand.
Ronan heard about someone looking into the surveillance footage and instantly guessed it was Elijah. He hurried back.
Freya was angry. He didn’t want to upset Freya. Although he did want Freya and Elijah to have a falling out. But if he were to do that, it would be too despicable.
Ronan rushed back, and coincidentally, Elijah came out and they met at the door.
“Are you here to check the surveillance footage?” Ronan grinned. Rarely did he have the upper hand in a situation involving Elijah.
Xander saw him and wanted to punch him.
“What shady business have you done? Why did you destroy the surveillance footage? Is it something so embarrassing?” Xander was seconds away from throwing a punch.
Ronan originally wanted to explain for Freya’s sake, but upon hearing Xander’s words, he couldn’t help but get angry and retorted, “I purposely deleted it because I didn’t want Elijah to be infuriated by what happened last night.”
