Chapter 225 A Photo
He was not in the room. Freya blinked, wondering if he was in the study. She closed the door behind her and hurriedly made her way towards the study. As she opened the door, she saw Xander standing at the desk, organizing some documents. Her eyebrows furrowed involuntarily. “Xander, why are you here? Where’s Elijah?”
“I didn’t finish my sentence earlier. It’s not Mr Silverton who came back, it’s Mr Cross.” Linda explained.
Freya’s face instantly fell.
Xander walked out, carrying a stack of files. When he saw Freya standing at the doorway, he kindly reminded her, “If you’re not busy, you should contact Mr Silverton.”
With that, he left with his belongings. Ever since that day when Freya refused to go abroad with Elijah, his face had been constantly tense, and his mood was not good. He would occasionally glance at his phone, probably expecting her to call him first. However, Freya didn’t make a single call to him. Freya sighed inwardly. She had been busy all day and hadn’t forgotten about him. She hurriedly chased after Xander.
“Xander,”
Xander stopped in his tracks. “What’s up?”
Freya walked up to him. “Is Elijah going abroad this time because of something happening in the company?”
Xander shook his head. “No.”
“Then what is it?” Freya pressed for an answer.
Xander hesitated for a moment, then decided not to say, “This matter is important to Mr Silverton. It would be better if he tells you himself. I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving.”Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Freya took a step forward. “How long will he be gone?”
“He might not be able to come back for a while.” Xander replied.
“I saw in the news that Arwen Silverton’s trial results came out. Isn’t he coming back to see Arwen’s fate? She is the enemy who harmed his parents,” Freya looked at Xander, hoping he would tell her why Elijah went abroad and how he could ignore Arwen’s death.
Elijah had done so much all this time, just to bring justice to their enemies. Now that they finally received their comeuppance, why was he suddenly not interested?
Xander sighed. “I’m an outsider. I can say what I should, but I can’t say what I shouldn’t. It’s getting late, you should go back inside, and I should leave.”
With that, he started the car and drove away. Freya stood still, unmoving. She felt in her heart that Elijah’s trip abroad and the things he was handling were probably really important. Yet she hadn’t asked anything. She had just rejected him outright. With lowered eyes, she wondered if she had made a mistake.
Was she a failure as a wife?
“Hmm…”
Linda came out, holding Kai. Freya snapped out of her thoughts. She turned and took Kai into her arms.
“Mama…” Kai pouted his rosy little lips and nuzzled his face into Freya’s neck.
It tickled and was adorable, melting hearts. Freya’s heart was on the verge of melting because of this little guy.
Freya carried Kai back to the room. She fed him, played with him, and put him to sleep.
It was getting late, Kai fell asleep, and the room became completely quiet. However, Freya couldn’t sleep no matter what. She walked to the living room in her slippers. It was empty, just like her mood.
Unconsciously, she entered Elijah’s study. She sat at the desk, imagining what Elijah looked like sitting here. She missed him. When Freya reached for her phone intending to call him, she remembered that her phone was out of battery. She searched for a charger and accidentally knocked over an envelope on the table. As she reached out to pick it up, she saw a photo inside-
