Chapter 215 Waiting for Him to Come Out
Freya pretended not to hear, but Sivin Peters turned around and glanced at her, saying, “Did someone call you?”
“Really?” She reluctantly looked at Jack.
Overnight, Jack seemed to have aged, looking haggard and not in good spirits.
“Go ahead, but you only have ten minutes. We’ll be going into the operating room later,” Sivin Peters said.
Freya had no choice but to nod and say, “I’ll be back soon.”
She walked towards Jack, but didn’t greet him first. Jack spoke first, and very directly, “Take me to see Elijah.”
Freya furrowed her brows. Why did he want her to take him to see Elijah?
“As you can see, I’m at work,” Freya said nonchalantly.
Jack tightened his grip on his cane, a hint of annoyance hidden in his cloudy eyes, but he had to hold back. “If I could see him, would I need you to find him for me?”
Freya understood in her heart. So Elijah refused to see him?
That meant Elijah was purposely avoiding him.
Then how could she tell him where Elijah was?
“I don’t know where he is either,” she said.
Jack squinted his eyes and grabbed her wrist, but his strength was not enough and it lacked force.
Freya easily broke free from his grasp and calmly said, “I am now under Elijah’s command. If you touch me, it will only anger him. And if he gets angry, it doesn’t seem beneficial for you.”
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Jack standing there. Jack was unable to do anything about it. Now he wanted to see Elijah to plead for Thorne, but he couldn’t come on too strong. And right now, he had no control over Elijah’s actions.
Jack’s body swayed, his feet unsteady, and he fell down. Deck happened to be nearby and rushed over, catching Jack before he hit the ground.
“Sir, are you alright?” Deck asked with concern. He helped Jack sit on a chair against the wall to rest.
“Did you find his address?” asked Jack.
“I’ve searched all of his properties and haven’t found him. It seems like he’s hiding in a place we don’t know.”
“Urbora City is so big, how can he just disappear?” Jack said weakly.
Deck thought for a moment and suggested, “Should we wait for him to come out?”
Jack didn’t understand, “What could make him show up now?”
“Arwen,” Deck said. “Arwen is the person who killed his parents and harmed him. They have an irreconcilable hatred. Now that Arwen is about to be sentenced, I guess Elijah will definitely go see her.”
Jack pondered for a moment. “I guess we have no other choice now.”
Deck helped Jack stand up and they walked out of the hospital.
Sitting in the car, Deck said, “Elara Montague is dead. Now that I think about it, Elijah must have used her to seduce Colton and drive a wedge between Arwen and Colton’s marriage. But from what I know about Elijah, he shouldn’t be that heartless. After using Elara, he still let her be killed by Arwen.”
Jack snorted coldly, “What’s so hard to understand? He must have known that Elara wasn’t the girl who saved him when he was a child. Knowing his temperament, he must have been angry about being deceived. So, he took advantage of Arwen to get rid of Elara and also give Arwen another charge. Why wouldn’t he do it?”
Deck sighed, “We made a mistake back then. We shouldn’t have turned against him…”
Jack looked at Deck.
Deck fell silent.
“Are you saying it’s too late now? Is there a remedy for regret in this world?” asked Jack. He let out a long sigh and continued, “I underestimated him. I thought he would be as kind as his father. How many obstacles did Colton create for Elijah’s father, but he didn’t mind, thinking of brotherly love…”
Deck felt that Elijah wasn’t as kind as his father because they grew up in different environments. Elijah lost his parents at such a young age and was almost killed by Arwen. If he had a merciful heart, he probably wouldn’t have survived until now.
As they spoke, they arrived at the police station. They requested to see Arwen.
At that moment in the visitation room, Xander leaned down and whispered in Elijah’s ear, “Jack is here.”
Elijah wasn’t surprised. He knew Jack was looking for him, so it wasn’t strange for him to find his way here. He said calmly, “I know.”
Xander added, “But he can’t come in right now.”
According to the rules, you couldn’t see more than two people at once. Arwen was a serious criminal, and her influence was not good. So she was different from ordinary prisoners.
“Now that I’m in your hands, whether to kill or torture me is up to you. If you want to humiliate me, forget about it,” Arwen said, her hands shackled in iron chains, fixed to the interrogation chair. She knew she couldn’t escape, so her tone was more defiant than humiliated. Here, even she couldn’t do anything to herself.
“Do you know this person?” Elijah placed a photo in front of her.
Arwen glanced down, of course she knew this person. He was the chauffeur of Elijah’s parents, the one she bribed to tamper with their car. How could she not recognize him?
“Haha-” Arwen burst into laughter, looking at Elijah. “Do you think you’ve won?”
“No, you haven’t won, you’ve lost, and you’ve lost miserably. While others grew up under the care of their parents, what about you?” Arwen knew how to hurt Elijah’s heart, her laughter mocking. “I still remember, your mother’s face was disfigured from the burns, her body swollen like it was inflated, and your father was even worse, missing a leg that was never found. Some say it was washed away by water, others say it was eaten by fish. Even at the funeral, he was still incomplete, haha…”
Elijah clenched his hand on the table, making a cracking sound. Xander stepped forward, afraid that Elijah would lose control and end Arwen right there. Arwen had committed an unforgivable crime, but the law was the proper way to punish her. “Mr Silverton, don’t let her provoke you. She’s intentionally trying to provoke you.”
Elijah clenched and unclenched his hands several times before calming down. He looked at Arwen. “I won’t lay a hand on you, but I can make your life worse than death.”
Arwen stared at him warily. “This is a police station…”
Elijah smirked, a dark, bloodthirsty smile, like a demon ready to claim lives, eerie yet disdainful.
Xander whispered a few words to the guard, who then left. Arwen panicked.
“What are you going to do? Are you going to kill me?” She felt a sense of unease.
Xander said, “A wicked woman like you will be punished by the law, but before you die, you should suffer a little.”Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
As he spoke, he took out a few things from his pocket.
