Chapter 203 Are You a Dog?
Luna remained silent by the side of the bed for a long moment.
Freya waited quietly, not rushing her.
“I had a fight with Orion,” Luna suddenly spoke up.
Freya was taken aback, unable to believe it for a few seconds. “You and Orion? What was it about?”
“His mother initially said that as long as Orion agreed to go back and fight for the family estate, and take control, she would approve of our relationship. Now that Orion has gained control of the Russo family, she has another demand. She said we can get married, but I have to quit my job and become a full-time homemaker, solely dedicated to taking care of Orion. But I don’t want to give up my career,” Luna explained.
“What did Orion say?” Freya asked.
At the mention of Orion, Luna’s expression visibly darkened.
“He said that he gave up his own passion for the sake of our relationship and asked me why I couldn’t make a sacrifice for him. Does our love have to involve sacrificing everything for each other?” Luna knew he had made sacrifices for her, and she felt that she should also make some for him.
“Freya, I can make it up to him in other ways, but if I give up my job, I’ll have nothing. What if…” Luna’s insecurities surfaced. With her troubled family situation, if she had no job, she would have to rely solely on Orion. If he were to betray her, she would have nothing left.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
Freya understood her concerns. She didn’t want to give up her own beloved career for the sake of family either.
Fortunately, Elijah supported her. Thinking about it, she felt she should treat Elijah better. After all, not everyone could understand her and provide support like he did.
“But your job is in Stratos City. If you don’t quit, even if Orion’s mother agrees to your marriage, are you planning to have a long-distance relationship?” Freya didn’t try to persuade her to quit her job but analyzed the current situation.
“I can request a transfer to this area.” She paused and looked at Freya, asking, “Do you also think I should give up my job?”
Freya shook her head immediately. “I think even if we get married, I should still be independent and have my own career. Relying solely on a man makes me feel insecure.”
“But isn’t Elijah good to you?” Luna even envied Freya a little.
At least Elijah could handle things on his own without having to worry about anyone else. He treated Freya well too. Orion was different. He had a complicated family situation, with both parents not liking Luna. For Orion and Luna, Obstacles were everywhere.
Freya smiled, acknowledging that Elijah was indeed good to her, but she also had concerns she hadn’t shared with anyone. “I’m still young, and maybe he’s still excited about me. But what about in the long run?”
“Is he a player?” Luna opened her eyes wide.
Freya quickly shook her head. “No, it’s just that there are too many women around him. I’ve lost confidence. One leaves, and another comes along, it never ends.”
“Are there women pursuing him?” Luna asked.
“I’m not sure if they’re pursuing him, but there are definitely some who have a crush on him,” Freya thought of Elijah’s secretary and her expression turned sour.
She knew that woman wasn’t easy to deal with.
Luna let out a long sigh. “Indeed, appearances can be deceiving.”
Freya chuckled and asked, “Am I that deceiving?”
“Aren’t you? Elijah has money, looks, and he likes you. He treats you well, and you don’t have any in-law troubles. Isn’t that enough to be considered deceiving?” Luna retorted.
Freya hesitated before speaking up. “Well…”
She thought carefully about what Luna had said.
“I could talk to Orion and see if there’s any other solution…” Freya suggested.
Luna interrupted her before she could finish her sentence. “No need. We had a heated argument, and I could tell he’s really angry. He’s on his mother’s side when it comes to me quitting my job. I can sense that he wants me to become a full-time housewife…”
Luna sighed in frustration. “It’s like a multiple-choice question. If I choose to be with him, I have to give up my job. If I choose my career, I have to let go of our relationship. You can’t have the best of both worlds.”
Freya didn’t know how to comfort her.
“You don’t have any relatives or a place to stay here. You can stay at my place, in my room,” Freya offered.
Luna smiled. “Luckily, I have a friend like you.”
Freya responded, “And luckily, I have you too. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to get through those days in Stratos City.”
“Do you want a drink? It might help you sleep,” Freya asked.
Luna shook her head. “I don’t feel like drinking.”
Alcohol can only provide temporary relief, but it can’t solve the problem.
“Freya, you should go back. You have a family now, a husband and a child. It’s not suitable for you to stay out overnight. I’ll think things through on my own and figure out what I really want,” Luna suggested.
Freya agreed, thinking that maybe if she calmed down, she would know what she truly wanted.
“Maybe Orion will always treat you well,” Freya said, thinking that Orion’s dedication to Luna, even giving up his own medical career, must mean he truly loves her.
Luna smiled faintly but remained silent.
Freya went back downstairs, and Elowen was still awake. Seeing her daughter come down, she said, “When you have time, bring Kai back for a visit. I miss him.”
“Okay,” Freya replied.
It was already close to midnight when Freya returned to her room. She changed her clothes and just lay down on the bed when she heard a knock on the door.
She looked towards the door. The door was quickly pushed open, and a figure walked in. Freya sat up and asked, “Where did you go?”
“Orion came to see me,” Elijah didn’t come to the bedside but took off his clothes, getting ready to take a shower. Freya reminded him, “Be careful while showering, don’t touch the wound on your back.”
Elijah responded with a light “Mm.”
“Wait a minute.” Freya suddenly smelled alcohol and frowned. She asked, “Did you drink?”
“Orion was in a bad mood, so I had a drink with him,” Elijah chuckled lightly. “You can smell it even from so far away? Are you a dog?”
Freya, “…”
“You go take a shower quickly. I have something to ask you,” Freya said.
Elijah responded with a “Mm” and went into the bathroom. When he came out, Freya had prepared the medicine and started applying it to his back.
She asked him, “What did Orion talk to you about?”
Elijah replied calmly, “Just some complaints.”
Freya furrowed her brows. “Why do I feel like you don’t want to talk to me?”
Elijah’s tone was indifferent as he said, “I just don’t want to talk about others with you.”
“Isn’t Orion your good friend? I’ve heard Xander say that you helped Orion a lot in successfully gaining control of the Russo family. You provided a lot of support and advice…” Freya trailed off.
Elijah suddenly flipped over, and Freya had cotton swabs in her hand. She raised her hand and glared at him. “What are you doing? You almost knocked the cotton swabs out of my hand.”
“What do you think I’m trying to do?” His voice was low, his eyes deep, and he lifted his leg, pinning Freya down.
“Ah!”
