Chapter 184 I’m Not Stupid
“No, I don’t.” Freya denied, but quickly fell silent. After a moment, she spoke softly, “Yes, I don’t want you to leave.”
Elijah liked how she clung to him and said happily, “Okay.”
His attitude was decisive and without hesitation.
Freya began to doubt her suspicions of him. Maybe she had misunderstood him after all? He really did like Kai.
She felt conflicted inside.
“What are you thinking about?” Elijah reached out his hand towards her. Freya instinctively dodged it. She wasn’t doing it on purpose; she just couldn’t help but feel repulsed by his intimacy because of her suspicion that he had been intimate with Elara.
Elijah’s hand froze in midair. Freya hastily explained herself, making an excuse saying, “Kai is here.”
Elijah glanced at their son who was sound asleep and wouldn’t wake up anytime soon. He noticed that something was off with Freya today but didn’t show it. Calmly withdrawing his hand halfway through pinching her petite nose playfully, he said, “I’m not mad at you.”
Freya pretended to be hurt and glared at him saying accusingly,”You always bully me.”
Elijah looked at the time before saying,”Take a nap for a while; I’ll go get some water in the living room.”
Freya nodded.
Elijah glanced at her deeply, then got up and walked out of the bedroom. He sat down on the couch and picked up the phone on the table, dialing a number. It connected quickly.
“Mr Silverton.”
The voice on the other end sounded like someone who had just woken up from sleep.
“Come over now,”
“Alright, on my way.”
Elijah hung up. He leaned back on the couch, pressing his fingers to his temple, looking a bit weary.
Not long after, the driver walked in.
“Mr Silverton?”
Elijah slowly lifted his eyes without moving any part of his body much asking calmly yet sternly ,”Where did she go yesterday?”
The driver hesitated for a moment before lowering his head apologetically stating, “Madam instructed me not to say anything about it”
“Hmm?” Elijah raised an eyebrow, clearly showing his dissatisfaction. The driver immediately backed down and said, “She went to he hospital.”
“What hospital?” Elijah seemed like he already knew what answer would come next.
“L&P Hospital.” The driver replied honestly enough since after all, he was being paid by Elijah so couldn’t afford not following orders given by him.
Elijah closed his eyes and said, “I see. Go ahead.”
“Yes.”
The driver left.
Elijah took a deep breath, slowly got up, and walked towards the bedroom. He pushed open the door and saw Freya still lying in bed. She was propped up on her elbow, looking at the sleeping child.
Elijah walked in, picked up Kai.
“What are you doing?” asked Freya. She was startled and whispered, “You’ll wake him up.”
Elijah said, “I’ll be careful.”
He then left with Kai.
Freya got out of bed, forgetting to put on her slippers as she followed him. “Where are you taking him?”
“To Linda.”
Freya grabbed his arm and said, “It’s morning already, he’ll wake up soon.”
“Let Linda take care of him for now, I need to talk to you.”
His expression was serious and stern. Freya slowly let go of his arm and nodded. She stood at the door and watched Elijah hand Kai over to Linda.
Soon, Elijah came back. She asked, “What do you need to tell me?”
Elijah didn’t answer her, but instead wrapped her up in his arms and kissed her passionately.
Freya couldn’t bear it and struggled, “What are you doing?” Elijah didn’t answer her, but continued to kiss her deeper.
Freya couldn’t resist and her body softened in his arms. After a long time, Elijah finally let go. Freya slowly lifted her gaze, her long lashes glistening with tears. “Why are you doing this to me?”
She had a hoarse voice with a hint of sadness. She wasn’t a crybaby, but at this moment her heart was very upset.
Elijah lowered his gaze and asked, “Does it hurt? Are you sad?”
Freya looked up at him and said, “You-”
“Are you not going to ask me about it?” Elijah looked at her. “Do you think I have another woman?”
Freya’s eyes clearly showed shock, her bright eyes like a clear pool of water, flowing gently. “How… how did you know?”
Elijah didn’t answer her question, instead asking, “Have you seen Elara Montague?”
Freya shook her head. “No.”
“Hmm?” Elijah seemed skeptical of her response.
Freya continued, “You know, I used to be a doctor. I have some friends who are doctors, so I saw Elara Montague’s medical records.”
“So you think it was me?”
Freya shook her head. She stepped out of Elijah’s embrace, walked barefoot to the edge of the bed, and bent down to pick up the phone from the table. She found the photo and handed it to Elijah. “Take a look.”
Elijah saw the picture without taking the phone.
I went to the hospital because of this picture. It was easy for me to find Elara Montague, but I didn’t go see her.” Explained Freya.
“So you suspected me?” Elijah asked knowingly.
Freya sat on the bed and questioned, “If it were you, wouldn’t you suspect?”
“Put on your clothes,” Elijah said.
Freya didn’t move but asked, “What for? You haven’t explained to me yet.”
“I want to show you the answer.” Said Elijah.
Elijah urged her, “Hurry up.”
Freya had to go change. Later, Elijah took her out of the house.
They soon arrived at the car. Xander was already there. When he saw Freya and Elijah walking together, he was taken by surprise at Freya’s presence.
Elijah led Freya into the office.
“Tell me what happened.” Said Freya.
Elijah pulled her onto the sofa.
Xander took a glance at Freya, then his eyes twitched as he seemed to understand Elijah’s purpose in bringing Freya. He said carefully, “Elara Montague and Arwen Silverton met, but I don’t know what they talked about. I pretended to be concerned and went to the hospital to visit Elara Montague, and I asked her about it. Elara didn’t betray Arwen. She told me everything, and I don’t think she was lying.”
He then took out his phone and played the recording of their conversation.NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“I came to see how you were doing. If you’re better, I’ll come pick you up and discharge you. Mr Silverton asked me to arrange a good job for you.” Xander said with concern.
Elara Montague felt a little touched.
Xander continued, “Oh, by the way, I heard from the nurse that you went out?”
Elara replied, “Yes, Arwen asked me to meet her.”
“What did she say to you?” Xander asked with a smile.
“As soon as we met, she asked me if Elijah knew I went to see her. I replied that I didn’t know, and she seemed to relax a bit. Then she told me that she took a photo of me and Elijah at the hospital and sent it to Freya, trying to create conflict between Freya and Elijah. She said that as long as I obediently followed her instructions, she would help me get Elijah. But I’m not a fool. She ruined my innocence. How could I possibly trust her?””
Xander added, “Exactly, no man would care about a woman’s innocence.”
He emphasized this to tell Elara Montague that Elijah could not like her anymore because she no longer had a clean body. Of course, this was only to make Elara Montague hate Arwen Silverton. Xander saw Elara’s angry look towards Arwen.
Freya suddenly understood, the photo was sent by Arwen Silverton to her, and her purpose was indeed to create conflict between her and Elijah. But she didn’t understand why Elara Montague got together with Arwen Silverton.
“What exactly happened here?” asked Freya.
“Just listen,” Elijah held her hand.
Freya had to suppress her curiosity and continue listening.
The voice of Elara Montague echoed once again in the recording.
