You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 153 Deep Grudges

Xander’s voice came from the other end, “I’ve checked. Thorne went to the old mansion. The child was there before, and after he went, the child disappeared. We can preliminarily conclude that Thorne probably stole the child. I heard from Deck that the old man wanted to keep it a secret, but Thorne caught him doing a paternity test…”

Elijah frowned, “Paternity test?”

“The old master did a paternity test on the child to ensure the purity of the Silverton family bloodline. The results confirm that the child is indeed yours, and it’s a boy.”

Ever since he found out that Freya was the woman with him from that night and had given birth to her children, he never doubted this child’s identity.

Freya had been with only him all along.

Xander hesitated for a moment and continued, “Although the child is with Thorne now, we don’t have any evidence to catch him…”

Colton Silverton was Elijah’s uncle, Jack Silverton’s second son.

In the past, Jack Silverton, in an effort to shield Colton’s family and appease Elijah’s anger, expelled them from the Silverton family. Not only were they deprived of any family assets, but they were also completely excluded from the family company.

Arwen Silverton, Colton’s wife, used her savings to open an entertainment club named CHARM for her son. However, due to the previous incident, where Arwen attempted to harm Elijah, Elijah managed to force the closure of the establishment. Now, their lives relied on the rent from Colton Silverton’s few factories and some stock funds.

“Have someone track them at all times. If you find any clues, inform me immediately. Also, come back; I have other things for you to handle.” Elijah had a plan in mind.

“Understood.” Xander replied.

As Elijah hung up the phone, Freya couldn’t wait and asked, “Isn’t Thorne Silverton your cousin? Why did he kidnap Kai?”

Freya knew that Jack had two sons-one was Elijah’s father, and the other was Elijah’s uncle. She only knew that the uncle’s family didn’t live in the Silverton family. But she wasn’t clear about the grudges between Elijah and his uncle’s family. These matters were usually kept secret, and the Silvertons wouldn’t discuss them, to avoid loss of face. After all, the drama of family members fighting each other was gossip for after-dinner tea.

Elijah spoke lightly, “Because Kai is my child.”

Freya was even more confused, “Since he’s your cousin and you know he took Kai, why don’t we just ask him to release him?”

“This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go inside,” he said, putting his arm around Freya.

By now, Freya had calmed down a bit. Being anxious wouldn’t help; they needed to find out what happened and why Elijah’s cousin kidnapped Kai.

On the first floor of the building, there was a spacious area with a reception desk on the right, sofas, and a water dispenser. Moving forward, a corridor-like hallway led to the elevators on both sides.

Elijah and Freya took the elevator to the top floor. Passing by the secretary’s desk, Elijah told the secretary, “Cancel all my appointments. I won’t be socializing for the next few days. Bring in two cups of coffee.”

“Sure,” the secretary replied.

Elijah hold Freya’s waist as they got to the office door.

He pushed it open, and said, “Come in.”

Freya walked in.

After closing the door, Elijah took off his coat and threw it on the sofa. He loosened his collar. Freya, who had been anxious earlier, now noticed Elijah’s bruised under-eye area. Clearly, he hadn’t been getting much rest.

“Elijah, do you like children?” she asked.

She just wanted to confirm Elijah’s attitude toward Kai. Elijah turned to look at her, his gaze profound, as if instantly understanding her thoughts. “Are you asking if I acknowledge him as my son?”

Freya pressed her lips together, tacitly admitting it.

“My child, of course, I like him.” He walked over, took her hand, and pulled her to sit on the sofa. He wore a serious expression. “Yuan Yuan, once we find the child, I’ll give you a wedding, and I’ll tell everyone that you are my wife, and Kai is my son.”

Freya didn’t expect him to say this. Her heart felt like it had been thrown into a pond, causing ripples.

“Do you want to give Kai a legitimate identity?” she asked.

Elijah’s eyes were tender, his voice low, “I want a family.”

He wanted a family with his child and the woman he liked.

Freya saw desire, anticipation, and expectation in his face-the softest expression she had ever seen on this man.

“You and me?” Freya was a bit surprised. “What about Elara Montague?”

Elijah sighed.

Why did she always manage to ruin the atmosphere?

“Why do you always bring up someone irrelevant?” Elijah asked.

Freya admitted that she felt uncomfortable about the relationship between that woman and Elijah.

“I’ve already had Xander move her to a place where I can’t see her. Besides, there’s nothing between me and her.” He reached out, and just as his fingers were about to touch Freya’s face, she turned her head away. “You don’t need to explain your matters to me.”

Elijah’s hand, frozen in mid-air, paused for a moment, then he put it down.

“Don’t you want to give our child a home?” he asked.

Freya did want that. She wanted her child to have a father and a mother, to grow up in a complete family. It would be better for the child’s physical and mental well-being.

Moreover, she liked Elijah. For the sake of their child, should she try to win this man over?

“Yes, I want to.” She said. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

She had figured out that, whether for Kai or for herself, she should fight for it instead of avoiding or retreating.

“By the way, why did your cousin kidnap Kai?” she asked.

Elijah explained, “On the night we met, Arwen Silverton, Colton Silverton’s wife, hired someone to kill me. Colton Silverton is my father’s brother.”

He avoided using family titles because those people didn’t deserve to be called his uncle and aunt. He called them by their names directly.

The door was knocked, and Elijah said, “Come in.”

The secretary brought in the coffee. Placing the coffee on the table, she left the office.

Elijah preferred his coffee black, without sugar or milk-strong and bitter, but invigorating. These days, he had been rushing around without much rest. He looked slightly tired.

Freya rose and moved behind the sofa. “You know I’m a doctor, familiar with acupressure. Let me give you a massage to relieve fatigue.”

As she spoke, her fingers landed on his temples. Her fingertips were cool and gentle. At the moment their skin touched, Elijah’s body tensed.

“Too hard?” she asked as she pressed and kneaded.

Elijah’s voice was hoarse, “No.”

Freya applied the right amount of pressure, working on his shoulders and back. Elijah’s body did indeed relax a bit.

“You’ve been tired these past few days; your muscles are quite tense,” Freya remarked.

Elijah reached for her hand, which was massaging him, “Freya,”

Freya was standing behind him. From this angle, she could see the straight line of his facial contours and the long neck. The slightly open collar revealed his robust chest.

She averted her gaze slightly. “Will they harm Kai?”

They could harm Elijah, but seeing that they dared to target him, the grudges between them must be deep, perhaps to the extent of ‘either you die or I die.’ therefore, she was worried about Kai’s safety.

Elijah held her hand, and his thumb gently stroked the back of her hand. “No, they kidnapped Kai to get the Silverton family’s assets from me. They know very well that if something happens to the child, not only will they gain nothing, but I won’t spare them either. So rest assured, our child will be safe.”

“Even though you’ve made it clear, I’m still worried. It wasn’t easy for me to give birth to him, and I can’t bear to lose him. As long as you can bring him back safely, I’ll agree to anything you ask.”

“Even remarrying me?” Elijah asked.
