You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 12 True Intentions

Jack Silverton had figured it out long ago.

At this moment, it seemed like Deck had also caught on.

“Sir, you asked me to find out about the matter concerning the heart…”

Before he could finish, Freya Stone emerged with a medical kit in hand.

Deck immediately fell silent.

Jack Silverton, leaning on his cane as he rose from the sofa, addressed Freya, “Come with me.”

After speaking, Jack Sheaded towards the study, with Freya placing the medical kit on the table and following him inside.

Seated at the desk, Jack looked somber. “Elijah’s parents passed away early, and I took care of him as he grew up. During his school years, he stayed in the dorms, and after graduating from college, he moved out of the old mansion, taking over the company, becoming even busier, hardly coming back.”

Jack’s voice was low. Elijah’s father was his eldest son, and the pain of a generation passing away before the other was a sorrow that persisted through the years.

Elijah’s reluctance to return had reasons of its own. He could foresee what Elijah would do to the his second son’s family after his death. Elijah endured until now out of respect for him. He needed Elijah to have a woman by his side, someone who could understand emotions, someone who could influence him, someone who could make him let go of hatred.

Jack Silverton didn’t want to witness his loved ones tearing each other apart.

“Grandfather,” Freya didn’t know how to console him.

Jack had always treated her well. Despite being pushed into this marriage by her father’s greed, Jack Silverton didn’t look down on her.

The old man gestured for her not to worry; he was fine.

“I agreed to let you marry Elijah because I know you’re a good child. Your grandfather is a loyal and kind person, and you, being his granddaughter, must have inherited his qualities. That’s why I want you to stay by Elijah’s side and take care of him.”

“Grandfather, I believe the person who stays by his side should be someone he truly likes…” Freya spoke from the heart.

But in the old man’s ears, it sounded like her retracting, an attempt to find an excuse to leave Elijah. Having lived to this age, he had seen it all. It was easy to manipulate her.

“I know you have difficulties.” Jack Silverton said.

From a drawer, he took out a document and handed it to her. “Your mother’s condition requires a matching heart, right? This is what I’ve found for her. I’ve already arranged for it to be sent to the hospital. Once you sign this agreement, your mother can undergo surgery immediately, and I’ll cover all the surgical and follow-up expenses.”

Freya Stone, initially surprised, soon realized that this matter was not simple. Her gaze fell on the document.

It was a guarantee, a guarantee not to divorce Elijah Silverton.

“I heard your mother’s condition is critical. Without a heart transplant, it’s unlikely she’ll survive. Hearts aren’t something you can easily find, especially not with money alone, and considering you don’t have much money.” The old man knew well that to keep her obediently by Elijah’s side, he needed to target her weak spot.

Freya Stone clutched the paper tightly, feeling conflicted and unsure of what to do. She seemed to understand now. The real purpose of bringing her to the old mansion today was this.

“Why do you think I can take care of him, Grandfather?”

“I’ve said it before, because you are your grandfather’s granddaughter, and I trust you.”

Freya tried hard to stay calm, but the turmoil within was undeniable. Her mother couldn’t afford any delays. The earlier the surgery, the better the recovery. She was already married to Elijah Silverton, and for her mother’s sake, she had to accept. “I’ll sign.”

“Good, I won’t misjudge you. You will surely make Eliljah happy.”

A rare smile appeared on the old man’s solemn face.

Freya bit her lip, refraining from speaking. In her heart, she thought, “Grandfather, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not the one who can make your grandson happy. That person is Liora Valentine.”

“I’ll inform the hospital now and arrange for the surgery for your mother as soon as possible.” Jack Silverton picked up the phone.

Freya stood there, nervously anticipating.

Once the call ended, she asked, “Grandfather, may I also go to the hospital?”

It was a gesture of filial piety. The old man agreed, “Sure, go.”

After today’s commotion, Elijah would probably not accept her in the house.

Jack Silverton couldn’t help but sigh.

“Thank you, Grandfather.” Freya sincerely expressed her gratitude.

The old man waved his hand and said to Deck outside the door, “Deck, get a car ready for her.”

“Madam, please follow me.” Deck came over and said.

Freya followed Deck out.

Sitting in the car, she felt like she was in a dream. Everything had happened too quickly, making it feel unreal. However, upon reaching the hospital and seeing everything arranged by the old man, she returned to reality. She wasn’t dreaming. Her mother could finally undergo surgery.

After a perilous night, the surgery was successful. There was, however, a long period of observation and care post-surgery. Looking at her mother lying in the post-surgery monitoring room, a trace of relief appeared on her face. Her mother was finally saved.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Having not slept all night, Freya returned to her office. While passing through the corridor, someone called her.

“Dr Stone.”

Turning around, she saw Calista Haven, a colleague from the same department.

Calista Haven approached her. “You left early yesterday and missed Dr Valentine’s arrogant speech. It’s great to have a powerful backing, she speaks with confidence.”

Freya kept her gaze low. Regarding Liora Valentine’s matter, she chose not to comment.

“I feel Dr Valentine isn’t as pretty as you. Why do you think Elijah Silverton is interested in her?”

Discussing others’ gossip wasn’t something Freya Stone wanted, especially if it involved her.

“Dr Valentine is very beautiful, and Mr Silverton is sure to like her. She must have her own attractive qualities, and we shouldn’t gossip behind people’s backs.”

Calista Haven pursed her lips. “Anyway, yesterday was supposed to be a farewell party, but it was just her intentionally showing off. Everyone knows that slot was meant for you.”

“Calista, I have things to attend to,” Freya Stone interrupted.

Such words were best not heard, as they could easily stir up trouble.

Calista sensed Freya’s reluctance to discuss and didn’t push further. As it was the busiest time in the hospital in the morning, people seeking medical attention were already standing in a long queue at the registration window.

They went their separate ways.

This morning, Freya had a surgery to perform. After resting for a little over two hours, she headed to the operating room. Exhausted from performing two surgeries and not having slept the previous night, she was feeling drained. During the lunch break, she intended to take a short nap. However, a nurse approached her.

“The director wants you to visit his office.”

“Is there an urgent matter?” she asked.

It wasn’t urgent; she could go later.

“I don’t know. I’m just passing on the message, you’ll find out when you go.”

Freya agreed, “Alright, I’ll go now.”

She got up to visit the hospital director’s office.

Arriving at the door, she knocked before entering.

“Mr Wilde.”

The hospital director was seated at his desk. Seeing her, he put down what he was doing, appearing somewhat hesitant. However, he had to speak.

“Dr Stone, did you offend Elijah Silverton?”
