You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 101 To Please You

Freya jerked in surprise. Could it be Elijah?

Had he overheard Ronan’s words just now?

Her gaze shot towards the door, relief washing over her when Linda walked in.

Ronan keenly observed Freya’s reactions. Was she genuinely terrified of Elijah? It made sense; even he was no match for Elijah, so he could only imagine the fear she must have endured at his hands.

Ronan pondered in silence.

Linda, casting a wary glance at Ronan, placed the food on the table. “Madam, you need some rest.”

Freya, sensing Linda’s disapproval of Ronan, smiled and said, “Okay.”

She valued Linda for the kindness the woman had shown her.

“Ronan, I’m having lunch. There’s nothing here for you. Please leave.” Freya declared.

Ronan moved his lips. Why did it feel like he was being shooed away wherever he went today? Even Elijah’s underlings seemed cut from the same cloth, just like Xander. Annoyingly protective of their boss.

“Then I’ll leave,” Ronan said.

Freya nodded in agreement.

Linda asked, “Who is he?”

“Just an acquaintance,” Freya replied.

Concerned, Linda didn’t want further conflicts between Freya and Elijah. “I bought you a mobile phone behind Mr Silverton’s back. If he finds out, he’ll be angry. For my sake, please don’t anger him again. He has been very good to you.”

Freya lowered her eyes, sensing a shift in Elijah. But there was still a significant distance between them. She didn’t dare entertain any improper thoughts.

For some reason, her appetite had abandoned her today.

“Linda, I’m not very hungry today,” Freya admitted.

“Why? Did my words upset you? If so, I apologize,” Linda said. She didn’t want to intrude, but she felt that in the relationship between Freya and Elijah, Elijah had already shown considerable humility. It was Freya’s attitude that needed adjusting.

“No, Linda, you misunderstood,” Freya smiled. It wasn’t because of Linda; it was her contemplation of her relationship with Elijah that made her feel a bit melancholic. Reluctantly, she said, “I’ll eat, or else you’ll overthink it.”

“You have a broken leg now, you need to eat more. I stewed big bone soup today; I simmered it last night, and all the marrow is in there. Have a bit more.” Linda said with a smile.

Freya understood Linda’s good intentions and jokingly replied, “Is this an eat-to-recover plan?”

Conversing with Linda brightened Freya’s mood, and her smile returned.

Elijah entered the room to find Freya with a genuine smile, her eyes sparkling like stars. She had never seemed so carefree in his presence. In his presence, she usually wore a mask.

Freya was initially quite content, but upon seeing Elijah, the flavor of the food in her mouth vanished. Her smile faded. Usually, Elijah visited in the evening, but today he had come for lunch. Linda inquired, “Mr Silverton, have you had lunch?”

“No,” Elijah replied.

“I prepared a lot today. Please share a meal with Madam,” Linda suggested. Saying that, she left and considerately closed the door behind her.

Elijah settled by the bedside, studying her. “Don’t like seeing me like this?”

Freya lowered her head, holding the bowl with both hands, sipping the bone soup in small sips, not uttering a word.

Elijah, releasing a deep breath, maintained his composure. All his patience was dedicated to Freya.

“Here,” he handed a black gold card to Freya.

Freya didn’t accept it immediately, asking, “What is this?”

“For your painting.” Elijah said.

“This is the main card. Buy whatever you want,” Elijah said without disclosing the card’s balance. With this card, she wouldn’t have to worry about necessities for the rest of her life without working.

Freya thought, ‘Since you gave it to me, it’s my money. I’ll buy whatever I want.’

“I haven’t had lunch yet,” Elijah remarked, watching her.

“There’s food on the table,” Freya said.

Elijah didn’t budge.

Freya widened her eyes and blinked. “You’re not planning to eat mine, are you?”

Before Elijah could react, she added, “I drank the soup, and there might be saliva in it.”

“I don’t mind,” Elijah said.

Freya was surprised by what he said.

Was this still the Elijah she knew?

When did he become so shameless?

She clutched the bowl, fearing he would snatch it away. Not that she feared he would drink from it, but she didn’t want to offer him a bowl she had already sipped from. They hadn’t reached the point of sharing a bowl.

“You blush?” Elijah teased lightly.

Was she feeling shy?

Freya touched her face and retorted, “Who’s blushing? I’m not. Don’t talk nonsense.”

Elijah didn’t argue, indulgently saying, “Alright, if you say you’re not, then you’re not.”

Freya’s heart tightened, her gaze becoming evasive. She didn’t dare to look at him. She didn’t know why she felt nervous and shy or why Elijah’s words seemed too ambiguous. Elijah didn’t continue teasing her. He ate some food, thinking of having lunch together with Freya. However, he found she was still repulsed by him.

“The doctor said you can go back to rest. I’ll have someone handle your discharge procedures this afternoon,” Elijah informed.

Freya asked cautiously, “Can I not go back?”

Returning meant more time spent with Elijah. She didn’t want excessive interaction with him. What if feelings developed?

She had witnessed the example of Orion and Luna. She didn’t want to experience the pain of emotions.

Seeing through her thoughts, Elijah said, “No.”

As a married couple, they should live together. She couldn’t hide in the hospital forever.

Freya felt disappointed.

“Freya, what else do you not know?” Elijah suddenly asked.

Freya was puzzled.

“You’ve learned so many things. You shouldn’t be a doctor. You should be a star.” Elijah said.

Freya had surprised him in many ways. She could paint so well! Now, she understood what he meant.

Thinking of Leo Stone’s initial plan to marry her to Elijah, she pursed her lips. Freya wanted to say, “I learned so much just to please you.”

“Do you like it?” she asked.

“Yes, I like it.”

Freya thought, ‘Indeed, men understand men best.’

Did Leo Stone make her learn so much just to make Elijah fall in love with her? Then, he could use her to benefit the Stone family?

A chill ran through her heart.

Her father had gone all out to use her for his gain.

“Is there anything else I don’t know about you?” Elijah reached out and brushed away the strands of hair fallen on her ear.

“Paint me a portrait too,” Elijah said, withdrawing his hand.

Freya was silent.

“Hmm? Unwilling?” Elijah raised an eyebrow.

Freya had witnessed Elijah’s methods. Her leg was still not fully recovered, and she didn’t want to suffer any other injuries. She quickly said, “Alright.”

The door was suddenly knocked.

Elijah stood up and went to open the door. A local courier stood outside.

“Excuse me, is Miss Stone here?”
