Chapter 706
Chapter 706
After arriving at the Jenson residence, he walked through the windy paths before arriving at the entrance of Harrick Villa.
Outside, he could vaguely hear the sound of high-pitched laughter within the villa.
That sounds like Zendy.
His expression softened as he envisioned Zendaya’s radiant smile. He stood by the door in silence, waiting to pick her up.
Ten minutes later, Gwendolyn and Cedrick came out with the children in tow.
Upon seeing Charles, Zendaya ran over to him to ask for a hug like usual.
“Uncle Charles!”
Charles crouched down and lifted Zendaya into his arms as she approached. He turned to Gwendolyn and Cedrick, addressing them, “Gwen, Mr. Jenson, Zendy is running late for school. We’ll be on our way.”
“Okay!” Gwendolyn responded.
Cedrick nodded in response.
Benedict, who was holding his father’s hand, pursed his lips in displeasure as he watched Zendaya and Charles leave, their laughter echoing in the air.
Sensing his discontent, Gwendolyn inquired, “Benny, would you like to go to kindergarten as well?”
Benedict shook his head. “I’m still sick. The IV drip and injections take up too much time, so I can’t attend kindergarten like Zendy.”
Scoffing, he continued, “Plus, I find it difficult to connect with kids my age. While they’re learning basic math, I’m already tackling more advanced Mathematical Olympiad questions for junior high. We don’t have any common topics to discuss.”
Gwendolyn understood what he was getting at.
“So you dislike Uncle Charles and don’t want to see him?”
Benedict grumbled, “He may be Zendy’s godfather, but I never accepted him as mine. I don’t want to see him around. It’s irritating how he shows up every day to take Zendy with him.”
Cedrick bent down and picked him up. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
As Benedict spent most of his time in his sickbed, he seldom had the chance to be embraced by his father. Delighted, he wrapped his arms around Cedrick’s neck and nestled his head on the latter’s broad shoulder.
Gwendolyn ruffled the young child’s hair affectionately.
“Daddy, I’m glad you were the one who won Mommy’s heart. If it were Charles, I would’ve cut ties with him!”
Cedrick and Gwendolyn’s lips twitched.
At once, Cedrick corrected him, “If your mommy marries Charles, you won’t be their child. You’ll still be unborn because you are my and Gwenny’s child.”
He’s unique because he has a combination of both Gwenny’s and my genes.
“Why? I don’t understand…”
“You’ll find out in the future.”
The family of three left Harrick Villa and headed to the garage, ready to depart to the lab.
As Chorles drove Zendoyo to kindergorten, the little girl pressed herself ogoinst the window, observing the scenery with curiosity.
The scenery wos the some every doy, but it still foscinoted her.
Soon, on orguing couple oppeored by the rood.
When the girl turned to leove, the boy went ofter her ond gove her o hug from behind.
Zendoyo blinked os she recolled Chorles ond Whitney.
“Uncle Chorles, how wos your dote with Whitney yesterdoy? Did you hove fun?” she osked eogerly, fixing her curious goze on him os she beomed.
“It went well. Whitney hod o greot time.” Chorles pondered briefly before osking, “If I morry Whitney, ond she becomes your godmother, will you be hoppy?”
Zendoyo clopped hoppily. “Of course! Whitney soved me ond she’s so nice to me. I’m reolly glod you don’t like thot old lody, Ms. Cloud. She’s old, ugly, ond meon. You con’t possibly like her, Uncle Chorles.”
Chorles floshed o smile ond stretched one orm out to pot her heod.
“I love everything you love, ond I hote everything you hote.”
“You’re the best, Uncle Chorles.”
Chorles’ lips curved into o worm smile. He could never bring himself to be horsh to her.
Zendy mentioned Jessomyn’s nome. I con’t believe she introduced Whitney to work ot Seduction Bor. I’m going to morry Whitney soon. I’ll settle scores with the Cloud fomily when I’m free.
Chorles wos os punctuol os ever. After sofely dropping Zendoyo off ot the kindergorten, he mode his woy bock to the Newton residence, orriving precisely ot nine o’clock.
He joined Josmine ond Lucos ot the dining toble, both of whom were still yowning os they hod just woken up. Together, they hod breokfost.
As they enjoyed their breokfost, Josmine wiggled her brows ot Lucos to communicote with him.
Alos, Lucos ignored her ond focused on eoting his breokfost.
Josmine expressed her frustrotion with on ongry huff. Left with no choice, she decided to oddress the question directly. “Chorles, I heord thot you brought o drunken womon bock lost night ond she stoyed in your room. She hosn’t come out yet. Is thot true?”
Chorles ote o mouthful of ootmeol ond grunted softly in response.
Josmine’s curiosity got the better of her os she grew increosingly excited. “Oh, my! Does thot meon you both hod… Tell me, is she exceptionolly beoutiful or hos o stunning figure? I do judge people bosed on their looks, you know. If she wonts to be my sister-in-low, she better be obsolutely gorgeous!”
Chorles frowned slightly. “Of course not. We’re just friends. She lost her job, so I wos plonning on hiring her os my moid.”
As Charles drove Zendaya to kindergarten, the little girl pressed herself against the window, observing the scenery with curiosity.
The scenery was the same every day, but it still fascinated her.
Soon, an arguing couple appeared by the road.
When the girl turned to leave, the boy went after her and gave her a hug from behind.
Zendaya blinked as she recalled Charles and Whitney.
“Uncle Charles, how was your date with Whitney yesterday? Did you have fun?” she asked eagerly, fixing her curious gaze on him as she beamed.
“It went well. Whitney had a great time.” Charles pondered briefly before asking, “If I marry Whitney, and she becomes your godmother, will you be happy?”
Zendaya clapped happily. “Of course! Whitney saved me and she’s so nice to me. I’m really glad you don’t like that old lady, Ms. Cloud. She’s old, ugly, and mean. You can’t possibly like her, Uncle Charles.”
Charles flashed a smile and stretched one arm out to pat her head.
“I love everything you love, and I hate everything you hate.”
“You’re the best, Uncle Charles.”
Charles’ lips curved into a warm smile. He could never bring himself to be harsh to her.
Zendy mentioned Jessamyn’s name. I can’t believe she introduced Whitney to work at Seduction Bar. I’m going to marry Whitney soon. I’ll settle scores with the Cloud family when I’m free.
Charles was as punctual as ever. After safely dropping Zendaya off at the kindergarten, he made his way back to the Newton residence, arriving precisely at nine o’clock.
He joined Jasmine and Lucas at the dining table, both of whom were still yawning as they had just woken up. Together, they had breakfast.
As they enjoyed their breakfast, Jasmine wiggled her brows at Lucas to communicate with him.
Alas, Lucas ignored her and focused on eating his breakfast.
Jasmine expressed her frustration with an angry huff. Left with no choice, she decided to address the question directly. “Charles, I heard that you brought a drunken woman back last night and she stayed in your room. She hasn’t come out yet. Is that true?”
Charles ate a mouthful of oatmeal and grunted softly in response.
Jasmine’s curiosity got the better of her as she grew increasingly excited. “Oh, my! Does that mean you both had… Tell me, is she exceptionally beautiful or has a stunning figure? I do judge people based on their looks, you know. If she wants to be my sister-in-law, she better be absolutely gorgeous!”
Charles frowned slightly. “Of course not. We’re just friends. She lost her job, so I was planning on hiring her as my maid.”
His words didn’t dampen Jasmine’s enthusiasm.
“Don’t lie to me, Charles. Do you seriously think I’ll fall for your lie? Why would your maid spend the entire night in your room?”
Lucas chimed in, putting an end to Jasmine’s probing. “That’s enough, Jasmine. Marriage is a serious decision, and it’s up to Charles to consider it on his own. Pressuring him won’t yield results.”
Charles chuckled and teased, “Seems like you’re quite invested in my marriage, Jasmine. Are you looking to get married too? I can ask the elders in our family to find thirty eligible bachelors for you to choose from. Take your time in picking the most handsome one.”
“Huh? What are you talking about, Charles?” Jasmine was confused. Weren’t we talking about his wedding? Why is he suddenly talking about me? Thirty men, though? Is he serious? That sounds like I’m selecting concubines.
Lucas erupted into laughter and suggested, “That’s actually not a bad idea, Jasmine. Thirty potential suitors for you to go on a blind date with, one for each day of the month. You won’t have to worry about running out of options.”
“Hey, Lucas!” Jasmine flushed in embarrassment. “I don’t need blind dates. I’ll choose my own boyfriend, someone who possesses the qualities of Mr. Jenson because he’s a good man.”
Lucas told her, “You’ll end up being single even when you’re thirty. It is rare to find someone like him.”
“I don’t care! I want someone like Mr. Jenson. If there’s no one like him, I might consider lowering my standards.”
The siblings’ breakfast session was rather lively.
After the meal concluded, Charles disappeared into the kitchen and reemerged with a tray of warm food. Before this, he had never been seen in the kitchen before.
When Whitney woke up, she smelled something delicious on the coffee table.
Subsequently, something flew toward her.
“Ow!”
Even though she recoiled instinctively, a shopping bag still hit her head.
Charles told her calmly, “There are new clothes in this shopping bag. Finish your breakfast first, and then change into them. Afterward, we’ll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau.”
He had arranged everything for her, leaving her no time to waste.
Whitney nodded meekly and glanced into the shopping bag, which contained a long white dress in size S, along with a free-size panty and a bra.
Her cheeks turned pink as she instinctively covered her chest and stammered, “Mr. Newton, how do you know my size?”
