Arthur

I have been serving my sentence in prison for three years now. My life has lost all meaning. A lot has changed since my incarceration.

Emma couldn’t take it all – my arrest, Michael leaving, and going into a mental institution. Michael became Rudy’s guardian.

My mother died of a second heart attack. She never confessed or told me why she did that to Alexa. I hope Alexa is happy now.

The other day my lawyer came by and told me that I might be released early. I couldn’t believe it, but it turned out to be true.

Michael confessed to everything himself and wrote a clean confession. But who made him do it? After all, he and Alexa were accomplices and she should be in jail, too. I received a copy of her book in prison two years ago with a letter from her. It said, “Our wishes are always realizable.”

What she meant by that, I don’t know. But I understand one thing, she has to answer for everything.

I have a lot to do, but I know one thing for sure – I will ruin Alex’s life, just like she did.

I will find her, and I will destroy everything she holds so dear.

Maybe she even got married and had a baby in the meantime. I don’t know.

It’s all unknown to me now, but soon, when I’m fully released, I’ll find out.

“Arthur,” Attorney Collins came into my room and started talking.

– I’ve got good news for you, we had a closed trial without your participation, and you were completely exonerated. Soon Michael will be taking your place. He should be here soon.

“I’m glad about that,” I shook his hand and thanked him for everything.

“Here’s Michael,” Colins said as we came out of the cell and saw two police officers pushing Michael around in handcuffs.

“Hey, Arthur. It’s funny, isn’t it? We were victims of the same bitch.”

“No talking,” the cops yelled and dragged Michael into the cell.

– Colins, can I talk to him? Please ask them to give me that chance. I’ve served three years for nothing, and I want to know the reason why Michael is here now.

“Okay,” he answered and walked over to the officers. They didn’t talk long and gave their consent at once. Mr. Collins has a knack for persuasion.

“You have only ten minutes,” he said to me and opened the cell in which Michael was already sitting.

“What do you want? Do you want to kill me? Go ahead, I’m not afraid of anything.

“That’s a good question, Arthur. I’m ready for you to answer it. Because Alex wanted me to. I was an idiot for believing her, just like you. I was as obsessed with her as you were. I ended up in jail, just like you.”

She and I lived together for almost a year, after Emma was taken to a mental institution, after another nervous breakdown, your mother had already passed away. Alex and I took in Rudy. She became a very famous writer, and her book became the #1 bestseller in New York, then sales increased all over the world. Now she’s a millionaire, can you imagine?

She even agreed to be my wife, just so I wouldn’t tell the truth about the murder and that it was all planned by her in the first place. But I made a little mistake,” he went on, but I interrupted him.

” I see, how is it that you’re here, Michael?” I demanded an answer to the question posed.

“She started to write a new novel on the whole story. Asked me to tell her all over again how I killed Blanche and framed you, and while I was telling her everything, she was typing it all up, but I had no idea she was going to record it all. It completely slipped my mind that she was a journalist. It was this recording that fell into the right hands, thanks to Alex and now, here I am. She got bored with her life and decided to get you out by putting me away. You know, I think she’s still, how should I put it,” Michael stammered.

“She what?”

“She wants you, Arthur. And it’s not just words. The number of times she and I have had sex, she keeps calling me by your name. And now she’s just decided to start playing games on our lives all over again. Honestly, I didn’t know why she wanted to get back at you, I thought you had hurt her badly, but as it turns out it was all about your mother.”

I’m really sorry about what happened. I could tell you now that she set it all up, but they wouldn’t believe me. She has a lot of money and she’s untouchable now.

“So that’s how she became untouchable, you say?” I thought.

“Yeah. Arthur, I’ve got more bad news for you.”

“What else happened?”

“While you were in jail, Alex bought out your apartment, your dead mother’s apartment, and my ex-wife’s apartment.”

“What?! I was ready to rip Alex a new one.”

“You won’t have a place to live now. But she still helps Emma, and she sends a lot of money to the clinic.”

“Her generosity knows no bounds.”

“You’re right, Arthur. If you want to see Rudy, he’s at Alex’s. She moved into a mansion in Manhattan. Rudy even calls her Mom sometimes. I’m just now realizing what an idiot I was to have fallen for her. I had everything, and now I have nothing. ”

“So you were married?”

“Yes. She has all the rights to Rudy now, as long as Emma is declared incompetent.”

“We’ll see about that while Michael,” I mouthed angrily and walked out of the cell.”
