Chapter 11 Money time
As Nku sat on the table, he rubbed his face, feeling an inward reversion to the excitement that accompanied the good news he had for the house. “We all need to be careful. The devil doesn’t like the wealth that awaits us. By tomorrow’s night I will be done with the simpler coding phase which is the third phase. Today is December fifteenth. Before twenty fifth I will be done with anything coding and development and then it will be code testing and soft run. Say we’re sacrificing our December for the hard work. To my knowledge and ability I’m promising you guys by January first we will be launching and rendering the world broke.” He shared a look across the house. “And then everyone will be satisfied with money, enough money, because the world is our slave.”
No way. We will sell it to a Chinese billionaire. I will tell you about it later, Ferguson thought.
“Yes, bro. Yes, bro,” they chanted and clapped at what Nku said.
Ferguson stood to serve the coffee. “A hot one for you.” He smiled at Nku, dropped a cup by his side and gave Agu his.
While Ferguson walked back to the bed, Azuaka Jnr. gazed upon him, down to his heels; the brown hairy legs and his big calf like an athlete’s. Shag-eared swine, he cursed him inwardly and had another sip. I pray you survive this, he cursed inwardly.
“We don’t need to rush things. The world knows how to wait for us,” Ferguson said, opening a pack of cigarette. He stood up and turned his back to them to fetch his black coffee. And he knew Azuaka Jnr. might be staring at him with dire combustion now, thinking of the skill to devil-porter his hell after murdering him. With that dude around I’m not safe.
“When you have hard work up your sleeves you only know the day is Friday when someone mutters club. For the Monkeys there is no dull moment. I am hosting everyone tonight at the club. You can have the women and the wine at the club. It’s my shout.” said Nku.
“Oh yeah!” said Ferguson.
“Blessed among Monkeys!” Nku lifted his cup.
“Blessed among Monkeys!” Agu lifted his.
“Blessed among Monkeys!” Ferguson intoned with his cup in the air.
Azuaka Jnr. only mumbled, “Blessed.” He gulped his wine.
Donning a sleeveless T-shirt, jeans and sneakers, Agu was ready for the club. Azuaka Jnr. was still livid, not having much to tell Agu, not much really about what happened at the hotel. He had been smoking ever since they returned and told Opula about Nku hosting them at the club; a better place to meet with Nku again after their graduation, she had thought before going into the bathroom. Azuaka Jnr. kept to himself while Agu whistled all through.
“We have to go against the clock, babe. Get dressed,” said Azuaka Jnr.
Opula stared at him and nothing beatific on his face, nothing close to the expression that came with clubbing. Agu was still whistling when she said, “A minute, Agu. I want to be naked before my man.”
When Agu shut the door, he peeped through the window and saw Opula stripping, her robust buttocks heavily weighing down the white lingerie. She said, “You don’t look happy, sugar baby. What went wrong at the meeting? Is there something you’re not telling me?”
Agu didn’t hear much of their conversation but he was sure Azuaka Jnr. did not say a word.
In less than few minutes they were out, ready for the club. Opula walked in front, dashing in transparent black mini gown and stiletto boot. Each step she took wobbled her large backside which could barely be held in her white lingerie.
Upon their arrival in the club, the Blues singing in the speaker switched to ‘Dear mama’ the sensational by Tupac. Azuaka Jnr. led them to an empty sofa in the open. Opula sat in the middle. Agu stood up, jostled through the crowd of dancers and later returned with a pack of cigarette.
“We can manage a smoke before they come,” Agu offered the pack to Azuaka Jnr. and he slid out a stick. “How are you sure they will come?” asked Opula, combing around staringly.
“Makes it easier. If they don’t come we will go home. Nku is giving us the shout. We don’t have money to spend here,” said Azuaka Jnr.
“I wonder what Nku would look like now,” said Opula, straining her neck for a glimpse of the white fella that came in sight. “Is that not eh… the white guy?” she pointed.
Agu followed her direction. “No.”
“That is Chinese. Our white client is American,” said Azuaka Jnr. Stupid American, he said in his head.
“These Chinese that flood our factory. They are always hardworking and billionaire,” Opula said looking at the two of them.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Agu quietened, puffing and taking another draw. Azuaka Jnr. not wanting to pick on the discussion said, “Their idea about life doesn’t put money in my account so to hell with them.”
Opula laughed, resting on the shoulder of Azuaka Jnr.
“I am pressed. I need to use the rest room.” Azuaka Jnr. stood up. “Agu look out for them.” He disappeared in the crowd.
A thick light skinned stripper walked past Agu and he spanked her buttocks. “It’s been long I fucked, OP, What do you think?”
Those assholes are frustrated with HIV. I’m sure you want to enjoy your real estate money in sick bed.
“No, besides they are always clean.” He dug into his pocket. “I forgot condom.”
Another thick-buttocks stripper passed, and he swallowed hard.
“I really want to fuck tonight. It’s Nku’s shout.”
When Azuaka Jnr. walked past the first three doors on the VIP lounge he saw Nku, Ferguson, and a Chinese man staring at the laptop. Shocked to his spine, he stopped and walked up to them.
“What is happening here, son of man? Have you guys been around and you didn’t let us know,” he said to Nku and Ferguson.
Oh Azu, are you guys here? We have been waiting.” Nku turned around and said “Um, meet Mr. Ziu, our Chinese associate.”
“I am not here to meet any fucking Chinese. I am here to club. What is happening, son of man?” he asked, voice raised, eyeballs roving. He walked away.
“Calm down, Azuaka. Hold on,” said Nku, following him.
But Azuaka Jnr. had walked into the crowd and grabbed Opula’s hand to leave. “Let’s go,” he said panting.
“What’s it?” asked Agu, standing up. Nku, Ferguson and the Chinese billionaire came through.
“Oh, Nku! How are you?” Opula wanted to embrace him and Azuaka Jnr. stopped her. Let’s go now.” He dragged her away.
“Have you guys been around? Agu asked them.
Nku stuttered, “Ye … yes.”
“What’s happening, son of man? Who’s the Chinese?” asked Agu, stroking his hair.
Dumbfounded, Nku stared at him.
“Dear mama.” Tupac’s sonorous voice sounded from the speaker.
