Two Times the Charm

Chapter 293

Chapter 293

Clara gently stroked her son’s hair, “You’re such a smart kid! You’re nothing like Alex, who spends all his time stuffing his face with sweets and fooling around.”

“Oh, and I haven’t told Alex about this. I’m afraid he might mess things up! So, it’s best if you don’t tell him either. Otherwise, all Granny needs is a few words or a handful of sweets, and she might be able to weasel something out of him.”

“Got it Mom!”

Aiden nodded while he was turning to leave. But he only got halfway before he paused, turned back to his mom and whispered, “Mom, are you and Dad…going to get divorced because of this woman?”

Clara was dumbstruck as she said, “Your dad and I will always be there for you!”

Aiden, while hanging his head, retorted, “But in the TV shows, when a woman comes into the picture, the parents start arguing, and then they get divorced,”

Clara could feel his worry!

Aiden was more thoughtful, unlike Alex, who was carefree…

“Don’t worry! Have you ever seen me and your dad fight?” Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Aiden pouted, “But Granny is always causing you trouble; I need to figure out a way to make Granny like you.”

Make Sophia like her?

Clara pondered for a moment, suddenly recalling what Emmett had said before!

“Aiden, what if… I mean, just if your dad and I had another baby, would you be upset?”

“No,” Aiden answered quickly, shaking his head without hesitation, “Why would I be upset? As long as it’s not like Alex, who hates doing homework.”

Clara laughed.

In the end, Aiden was still just a child!

“You go read your books! I’m going back to my room. Granny might get suspicious if she sees us alone together for too long.”

“Okay, bye, Mom.”

Aiden scurried away, and as Clara watched his retreating figure, she felt conflicted.

Would she really have to have another child to improve her relationship with Sophia?

Clara walked into her room and heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom. Emmett was showering.

Looks like he won’t be bothering her tonight!

Clara opened her work laptop, but her phone started ringing before she could even log in.

She glanced over… it was a foreign number and one she didn’t recognize.

Was it a prank call?

Hesitating for a moment, Clara answered anyway.

A familiar male voice came through.

“You thought you were rid of me, huh?”

Clara’s face turned pale, “How… how could you…”

“Still contacting you, am I?” the man sneered, “You really think I’d let you off the hook?”

Panicked, Clara glanced at the bathroom, “What do you want? You’ve got your money. Didn’t you say you’d disappear?”

“Haha, disappearing would just make things easier for you, wouldn’t it? You little devil, I never thought you’d end up with Emmett, let alone marry him! And you’re trying to ditch me now? So, now that you’ve married into a rich family, you don’t need a father anymore, huh?”

“You have the nerve to call yourself my father! What have you ever given me? How many times did I almost die because of your debts, getting beaten up by your debt collectors? Where were you then? And now you want to play the father card?”

“Enough of your nonsense! Get me a million dollars right now!”
