Chapter 266
Chapter 266
Clara couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Deal! I’ll keep your advice in mind! Thanks, Ricardo.”
“You don’t have to thank me! I think you’re a genuinely good person; I just don’t want you to miss out on a good guy! If I were a girl, I’d probably want to be your love rival!” Ricardo said, and he burst into laughter himself, “Too bad I’m a guy!”
“Well, then you should strive to be as committed as Emmett.”
“What’s the point of being committed?” Ricardo retorted, “Do I have a handsome face like Mr. Melendez? Do I have the social status that Mr. Melendez has? Mr. Melendez is committed, and he’s hailed as the most eligible bachelor! But if I’m committed, people will just think I can’t find any other woman!”
“You sure don’t mince words about yourself.”
“I can’t help it; it’s the truth! Anyway, as long as you get my point, Get ready, and I’ll take you to the construction site.”
After Ricardo left, Clara mulled over the conversation, then took out her phone and found Emmett’s number.
Hesitating for a moment, she decided to send a text.
[I’m sorry, I know you’re upset about Elio. It’s all my fault! I didn’t consider your feelings! I promise it won’t happen again, okay?)
After sending the text, Clara was planning to change her shoes and head to the construction site with Ricardo.
Unexpectedly, Emmett called back immediately!
“You know you were wrong?”
Clara was taken aback. “Aren’t you in the middle of a shareholders’ meeting?”
“Yes.”
“And…and you’re able to call me?”
She couldn’t believe that Emmett would just casually call her during the meeting!
“I paused the meeting”
“Emmett, you’re really… Clara started, but found herself at a loss for words.
The man was truly insane.
“Be careful when you’re at the construction site with Ricardo Stay clear of any dangerous areas! Don’t think you can handle everything; remember you’re a woman.” Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
“I understand.” Clara smiled faintly and said, “Thanks for your concern, Mr. Melendez! I’ll head to the site now. You should get back to your meeting!”
“Hmm.” Emmett responded softly before hanging up.
Looking at her phone, Clara felt a pang of guilt.
Emmett was so focused on her, yet she was entangled in so many emotional complications. It really wasn’t fair to him.
“Looks like I really need to sort out my romantic issues! And I need to have a clear conversation with Elio.”
When Leah returned to the hospital and pushed open the door to the ward, she saw Elio lying in bed, receiving an IV.
His eyes were closed, and his brows were furrowed.
“What, Clara left again? You see, you’re not that important to her! It’s only you who are clinging on.”
Elio didn’t respond, as if he hadn’t heard her.
“Are you upset? Well, don’t take it out on me! I didn’t do anything to upset you! You got drunk; I didn’t make you do that. Clara’s attitude towards you is not because of me.”
“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have returned.”
“Well, you can go back!” Leah sneered, clearly not pleased: “I’m not forcing you to stay here! You’re still hung up on Clara; what does that
have to do with me?”
“If you hadn’t framed Clara, would things have turned out like this?”
