Chapter 214
Chapter 214
Of course, Badman Calloway would pull off something like this.
“Alright, let’s not think about these things today. Come on, let’s go shopping, consider it a treat from me for your hard work in the company.” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“You can’t say no to this treat. The company’s always been pretty clear with rewards and punishments.”
Feeling cornered, Clara had no choice but to agree, Fine, but I’m just going to take a look. Im not planning to get a new car”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
As Emmett was pulling Clara to head out, her phone pinged with a new message. It was a text from Elio.
Emmett caught the sound of the text notification, he asked her, “Someone hitting you up?”
“Oh, probably just spam, don’t mind it.” Clara quickly glanced at it, deleted the message, and then walked out with Emmett.
Emmett had some doubts, but he bit his tongue and didn’t ask.
At a coffee shop. Taylor ordered a cup of coffee, settling by the window to enjoy it slowly
Watching the hustle and bustle outside, his mind was filled with Clara.
Before he left, he asked the doctor if there was any way to speed up his memory recovery, but the answer was no. Everything just had to take its course.
That answer left him feeling a bit bummed. After all, if his memory doesn’t come back within a year, he’d really miss her.
“Excuse me, are you Mr. Atwood?” Suddenly, a female voice sounded beside him
Taylor looked up to see a woman in a light blue dress. It was Leah.
“Are you the whistleblower for Starling Media?” Taylor asked.
Leah chuckled, “Guilty as charged.”
“Never thought the whistleblower would be such a knockout.” Taylor smiled, “I figured it must be a jealous woman.”
“Are you complimenting me or criticizing me? Leah laughed, “If you don’t mind, I’d like to think it’s the former.”
Taylor chuckled, then waved over the waiter, “We’d like to order”
“Lemonade is fine, thank you.” Leah closed the menu and looked at Taylor, “May I ask why you wanted to see me?”
“It’s about that news story.” Taylor got straight to the point, “Tell me, what would it take to keep that story under wraps?”
Leah laughed, “Oh, so that’s it! I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you today, as I had no intention of covering up that news.”
Taylor frowned. If you knew my intention, why did you agree to meet?”
Because I thought you you were here to discuss a collaboration with me.”
“Oh? Collaboration?” Taylor was intrigued, ‘I don’t see what we could possibly collaborate on.”
“You were so in love with Clara, are you thinking of giving up on her now?”
Upon hearing this, Taylor’s hand holding the coffee cup paused slightly.
“You know about my past?”
“Mr. Atwood, your surgery after the car accident was performed by the Milburn family themselves. Leah gave a slight smile, “You could say I’m one of them! When you were abroad and brought into the Milburn family hospital, you were in a critical condition! I remember the surgery took two days, and it was a close shave saving your life”
