will be postponed
Letta had no idea how many days it had been since the doorbell of her apartment had been ringing loudly in the early morning. Of course, Letta could already guess who the person was that had been disturbing her for the past few days. This made Letta finally ignore the sound of the bell. Despite feeling annoyed, Letta simply took a pillow to cover her face, hoping to muffle the sound of her doorbell. However, it was in vain, as the bell continued to ring incessantly.
“Fine, I’ll open it,” Letta exclaimed in frustration. Then, she walked, stomping her feet, towards her apartment door and opened it. However, it seemed that Letta’s assumption this time was wrong. Letta fell silent immediately. Previously, Letta had prepared some scathing remarks to scold the person who usually disturbed her. But this time was different, causing Letta to furrow her brow. Letta seemed very familiar with the face in front of her.
“You?” Letta asked, her words trailing off slightly.
“Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Haris. I am Mr. Marco’s assistant,” Haris said, making Letta nod her head.
“Then, what brings you here to my apartment so early?” Letta asked again, making Haris tilt his face slightly, gazing towards Letta’s apartment. It seemed that Letta understood his behavior a little bit.
“Do you want to discuss it over some morning tea inside my apartment?” Letta asked with a stiff and awkward expression, making Haris nod. After that, Letta really had to invite the man’s subordinate to come inside her apartment.
“Please have a seat,” Letta said again, and Haris followed her words.
“But, can you wait for a moment? You see, when you kept pressing my apartment’s doorbell, coincidentally, I was still sound asleep. So, I haven’t had the chance to clean myself. So, I think I need a few minutes to wash my face. You don’t mind, do you?” Letta asked, making Haris nod his head again. Letta then walked back into her room.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Turns out, he’s very concise,” Letta said. After that, Letta hurried to wash her face and returned to meet Haris before preparing some tea and snacks. Afterward, she placed them on the table. They then stayed silent for a while before Letta spoke again.
“So, what is your purpose for coming to my apartment?” Letta asked, getting straight to the point.
“I just want to inform you that your marriage with Mr. Marco will be postponed,” Haris said, causing Letta’s eyes to widen once again. Not because of disappointment, but she was genuinely surprised. Wasn’t it just the day before that Marco kept insisting that Letta prepare for their wedding as soon as possible? But now, it seemed to be different. Letta’s mind kept spinning.
“Suddenly Mr. Marco has to go on a month-long business trip to Chicago and several other countries that he must visit,” Haris said, making Letta nod her head again.
“It’s okay, I understand your boss’s busy schedule,” Letta replied, smiling inwardly. Wasn’t that very advantageous for her? For this month, of course, she could live her life normally. She would think of a way to break free from the man named Marco, and Letta could also look for the job she desired. For this month, Letta really had to make the most of her time.
Before Haris handed her a piece of paper, Letta asked again, “What is this?” Haris brought the paper closer, and Letta took it.
“These are the things you cannot do while Mr. Is away. Also, Mr. Has assigned me to monitor you at all times, and I will place two guards who will stand right in front of your apartment door,” Haris said, making Letta truly gape. She couldn’t say anything in response to the sudden decision from the man named Marco.
“Are you setting up guards, and I have to be monitored? Does he consider me a fugitive or a captive? No, no, no, I don’t accept it,” Letta said, placing the paper down without reading a single word.
“But, Mr.’s decision is absolute. He doesn’t want to be contradicted,” Haris said again, making Letta immediately get up from her seat. Haris could only look up, staring at Letta, who now folded her arms as if she didn’t want to be contradicted. Here, there was only her, and she didn’t want to be controlled by anyone, including the very arrogant man named Marco, Letta thought.
“Tell your master that I won’t follow all of his words and silly prohibitions. If he doesn’t like it, he can come back here to stop me,” Letta said with a challenging smile. Letta knew that Marco wouldn’t possibly cancel his crucial business trip just to stop her childish behavior.
“So perhaps our conversation ends here, and I seem to need to go back to sleep because I’m still sleepy. So, you can leave now, and there’s the exit door,” Letta said with her friendly smile, making Haris able to put on his poker face before getting up from his seat.
“Alright, then I’ll report it to Mr. But I can’t guarantee that Mr. Will agree with your idea. I will still follow whatever Mr. Commands,” Haris said, making Letta nod her head.
“Yes, yes, it’s better for you to report it to your master now. I want to hear about his anger. Have a good report,” Letta said, making Haris fall silent. After that, he turned to leave Letta’s apartment.
After the apartment door closed, Letta let out a long sigh. Somehow, since she had any involvement with a certain Marco, her life didn’t feel peaceful. Letta could only lean her back, gazing at the ceiling of her apartment. Letta had to come up with a strategy during this month to make the most of her time. Letta had to find a way to break free from Marco’s grip.
Even though it would be difficult, at least Letta had to find a way so that the man couldn’t control her anymore. Secondly, Letta had to find a job immediately. Even though she had previously submitted several applications to some coffee shops and flower shops, so far, Letta still hadn’t received any reply emails.
“Come on, let’s be spirited for this month, and you also have to help your mother, okay,” Letta said, stroking her still flat stomach, as if inviting her future child to support her.
Letta then got up from her seat and went back into the room. She had to check some incoming emails and also send out more to find another job. At least she needed an income to survive, as her savings were starting to deplete. Even though Letta had been trying to save, unexpected needs always seemed to arise suddenly.
