My first grandchill
As Marco mentioned earlier, Letta continued to gaze at the clock on the bedside table. Although it was already late afternoon, Edward and Helena had not yet shown up. Marco just smiled thinly at his wife’s restlessness.
“Why haven’t they arrived yet?” Letta asked, making Marco just smile.
“Perhaps they’re on the road, the traffic seems to be jammed,” Marco replied, trying to calm Letta. However, Letta became increasingly restless and anxious before their arrival actually happened. Suddenly, someone knocked on their room door, making Letta widen her eyes.
“Are they here?” Letta asked in a whisper, making Marco just smile as he walked to the door and opened it. Several guards were seen carrying many gifts in front of them, as if Marco could already guess the origin of all the gifts they brought.
“Are all of these gifts from Mommy?” Marco asked the guards, who nodded. Marco invited them in and arranged the gifts inside. Letta could only blink her eyes as she saw the gifts brought by the group of guards.
“Yes, it seems these are just some of the gifts for Freya prepared by Mommy. There are probably still many left in the car,” Marco said, making Letta widen her eyes.
“What’s in those gifts?” Letta asked, and Marco sat down beside her.
“You can open them one by one later, and I’ll help you satisfy your curiosity. Don’t be surprised when you see what’s inside, as it has become Mommy’s habit,” Marco said, trying to reassure Letta. Letta nodded, still staring at the pile of gifts in front of her, impressed by the wealth and beauty emanating from them.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
When Edward and Helena finally arrived, Letta saw how Edward, who resembled Marco, and Helena, who looked so beautiful and graceful. Letta felt a little anxious because her beauty seemed to pale in front of her in-laws, who might prefer to support Arabella over her.
“How are you doing?” Edward asked, making Letta flinch slightly before returning his gaze.
“I’m fine, thank you, Daddy. How about you, Daddy? I heard from Marco that you’re also under treatment,” Letta said, making Edward smile.
“Yes, it’s just my occasional illness that flares up. No need to worry about it,” Edward said, making Letta smile. After that, she looked at Helena, who seemed to be looking at Freya from a distance.
“How about you, Mommy? How are you?” Letta asked, making Helena smile thinly.
“Fine,” Helena replied shortly and coldly, making Letta immediately look at Marco, who just nodded as if to say that everything would be fine.
“Thank you for visiting me and our daughter,” Letta said a little awkwardly, making Edward smile.
“Of course, this is my first grandchild. How could I not come?” Edward said, then walked closer, seeing how Freya was still soundly asleep, her cheeks looking rosy.
“She’s very beautiful,” Edward said, making Letta nod her head. Letta then looked at Marco, then at Helena, and Marco, as if understanding that gaze, approached Helena.
“Do you want to hold her?” Marco asked, embracing his mother’s shoulder, making Helena immediately avert her gaze to another direction because their last meeting wasn’t too pleasant, and it seemed that Marco was trying to persuade Helena.
“No need, she’s asleep. I don’t want her to wake up and disturb her,” Helena said, still with the flattest tone possible. However, Marco knew that his mother wouldn’t be able to resist touching her granddaughter.
“Mommy can come closer like Daddy. It won’t wake her up. Besides, she’s full. And her sleep schedule will be long. Even if mommy holds her, she won’t wake up,” Marco said again, making Helena fall silent before walking closer to Edward. After that, Edward held Helena’s hand, then kissed the back of her hand.
“Look, this is our first grandchild,” Edward said, making Helena look up, gazing at her husband before nodding.
“I remember when I first saw Marco. In this baby basket. Don’t they look alike?” Edward said, making Helena nod again. Helena was reminded of her past, the first time she gave birth to Marco, her struggles to give birth to her only son made Helena even cry with heartfelt emotion, getting a handsome son like Marco.
“They look alike, except she’s a baby girl,” Helena said, making Marco nod his head.
“So Mommy doesn’t like her?” Marco asked as he walked towards Letta, making Letta widen her eyes. How could her husband ask her so openly like that? What if Helena really answered that she didn’t like her? That would surely make her feel devastated. “When did mommy say she doesn’t like her own granddaughter?” Helena said, making Marco smile thinly.
“Why don’t you want to touch her even a little bit? At least hold her or something, I’m sure Mommy won’t be able to put her back to sleep if she has held her because our little daughter has an extraordinary charm just like her father here,” Marco said, winking at them, making Letta pinch her husband’s arm playfully. Helena fell silent, of course, she really wanted to hug and kiss her first granddaughter. But her high ego towards Letta and Marco seemed to bea barrier. However, seeing Freya starting to open her eyes slowly and look towards her grandparents, a surge of emotion welled up in Helena’s heart, causing her to reach out and touch the tiny baby’s face, Helena began to tear up as she looked at Edward.
“Go ahead, hold her,” Edward said, finally making Helena nod her head.
“May I hold her?” Helena asked, making Letta smile and nod, while Marco just looked at his mother with a suppressed smile.
“Didn’t I ask you to hold her earlier?” Marco said again, making Helena not care about her high ego. She began to cradle Freya in her arms and then took her to the nearby sofa, followed by Edward. They were now looking at Freya, who was looking back at them with her clear eyes.
“What’s her name?” Helena asked.
“Freya Jovanka,” Marco replied, making Helena smile warmly as she held Freya, and Marco was happy to see how his mother reacted to Freya. Marco was sure that no matter how much Helena denied that she wasn’t interested in Freya’s presence, her heart couldn’t lie about her enthusiasm with all the gifts and the genuine smile.
“I told you, didn’t I, that Mommy would love Freya, even though her demeanor still feels a bit stiff. But don’t worry, in the future, Mommy will help you take care of our little daughter,” Marco said, making Letta smile and nod her head.
