Chapter 644 Meeting Them Sooner or Later
Neil smiled and said, “Lia looks like me.”
Caroline chuckled, “I forgot to mention, this is my brother. You remember him, right? You’ve worked at Xander Residence for so long. You must have taken care of Neil, too.”
Just as Caroline’s voice faded, Tyler suddenly spoke.
Caroline turned and followed Tyler’s gaze to Liora, who stood there absentmindedly. “Lia? What’s going
on?”
Liora stretched her hand to point at the photo on the tombstone, but she stopped herself, thinking it would be inappropriate.
“Nothing.” Liora shook her head.
The person in the photo seemed familiar, but she couldn’t recall where she had seen them before.
‘Was it in a dream?‘ she wondered.
Liora stared at the photo with her head tilted until Caroline finished her visit.
Caroline stood up and said, “There’s another graveyard next door. Jamie is buried there, and I’d also like
to visit her.”
“Sure. I’ll carry you, Axel,” Neil replied as he picked up Axel.
Axel didn’t decline the offer. After all, he was tired from walking due to his recent hospitalization. They
soon got into the car.
They drove to the graveyard where Jamie was buried. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Caroline noticed a figure in the distance before they reached the area. A man in a black overcoat with a
straight posture was standing in front of a tombstone. He was surrounded by mist, adding a touch of
loneliness to his presence.
Caroline could tell it was Evan.
“I didn’t expect him to be here so early,” Neil exclaimed.
Caroline looked away. “In his opinion, his mother was his only family member.”
Yet, the person Evan valued the most had no regard for him. Caroline had her mother and Lily, who loved
her. In fact, even Jamie treated her well. What did Evan have? He had nothing but money and status.
Caroline exhaled and got out of the car.
Neil wanted to join her, but she stopped him. “I’ll go. Please wait for me in the car with the children, Neil.”
Neil didn’t comment further and nodded as he passed the bouquet to her. She turned and walked over to Evan. Her footsteps on the lawn were clearly audible. He turned and locked eyes with her. She could see the loneliness in his eyes and felt her heart ache.
She stood next to Evan and placed the bouquet before the tombstone. “I’m here to visit Jamie,” Caroline said.
“Why didn’t you sleep in? You had a long night,” Evan asked hoarsely.
Caroline stood upright. “I wanted to visit them first thing today. They’re my family, after all.”
Evan noticed Caroline’s reddened nose and pulled up her scarf due to the cold. “You should dress
warmer.”
Caroline was briefly stunned before pushing up her scarf and saying, “Hmm, I have one more graveyard to visit later.”
“Are you visiting your biological parents?” Evan asked nonchalantly.
Caroline nodded. “Yes, so I won’t stay here long.”
Evan’s gaze landed on Jamie’s photo, and he said, “I’ll come with you.”
“No-”
“Don’t reject me,” Evan interrupted before Caroline could finish her sentence.
She looked at him in astonishment. Il visit my parents by myself.”
“I’m meeting them sooner or later,” Evan blurted before walking back to his car.
Caroline watched his silhouette depart and thought, ‘I haven’t agreed to be with you yet, right?”
Noticing that Caroline didn’t follow, Evan stopped walking and turned. “Don’t you think I should visit Axel’s grandparents too?”
