Chapter 45: Nikolai
“Tell us how you live King Nikolai.” Ash states, a glean of wickedness showing once again in his eyes, “Please share with the group about how the Vampire King ,the King of the Kingdoms, mated to a woman who is somehow related to the phoenix.”
The entire summit gasps, except for Ambrose who has already found out Mary’s secret on his own. I suspect he knew long before I did, when he was first examine our bond.
“There is no proof that my mate is related to the phoenix. The last phoenix was seen centuries ago. My mate is a human.” I reply, staring daggers at Alpha Ash.
“Myself and multiple witnesses saw how the blood bound formed at her coronation ceremony. Her blood, glistened with that of a phoenixes.” Ash responds as he looks each representative in the eye.
“Mary has never shown an ounce of power. She has had many chances to bring forth the power of the phoenix. If she was a phoenix she would have been able to stop your hunters from slaughtering her sister. She would have been able to rescue herself from being sold at the blood auction. When she was attacked in this very castle she would have been able to protect herself, and then in the enchanted forest when she barely survived a run in with a ghoul, she should have protected herself using whatever phoenix power, you imagine she has. My mate is 100% human. The only protection she has, is skills she learned before her capture, and the protection I can offer her.” I respond.
Ash doesn’t respond to this statement. He doesn’t need to. He can see that he’s planted the seed of doubt in representatives eyes, and I know the council will be discussing this with me later.
“With that being said about the humans. I would like to issue a ban against hunting humans. Humans are not our enemy. I would like to pass a law, that gives every human back their freedom, that will end
h the slave auctions. With this law, vampires will no longer be able to take blood from a human by force. They will have to get bags of blood donated to the food bank, or drink from a willing participant.”
Alpha Ash laughs loudly, “Surely you must be jesting your highness. The blood slave trade has been in effect since your mom took over the kingdom. Making human slaves has brought peace to the kingdom. The vampires have free food, the witches are given children that can learn the arts of witch craft if they’re lucky enough, and the wolves make a profit, which increases the overall lively hood of our pack. Ending the Slavery on humans will cause devastating impact on our kingdom, not to mention it will give the humans a chance of rebelling against us.” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“This law is important to my Queen, as she is a human as well as a formal blood slave. My Queen will also be the human representative. It will be her responsibility to make sure the humans are presenting themselves in a professional friendly matter.” I respond.
“Hah. I don’t mean to laugh your majesty, but I think your opinion is clouded with the emotions that come with mating. We know nothing of Queen Mary, except that she attacked my wolf hunters, she has struggled with listening to her King, and she has also run away from her King. Queen Mary would make’a horrible representative to the human race.” Alpha Ash adds.
There it is. He’s officially managed to place the seed of doubt in the other representatives eyes. I knew bringing up freeing the humans would be a risk, but it was one I was willing to make. There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for Mary.
Before I could counter Ash’s argument, the elven representative Giselle stood up, “ I agree with King Nikolai. It has been centuries since the war with humans has ended. If Nikolai can forgive humans for
killing his father and causing so much pain and sorrow to his family, then I think it’s time to change the laws.”
The humans may have landed the blowing shots on my father, but in my opinion, there were only four people responsible, and my mother had already gotten vengeance on them.
“So his laws should be based off emotions alone?” Hectate asks,
“No. The law in effect against humans was created purely off emotions. My mom’s emotions for losing so many in the battle against the phoenixes, as well as discovering that her mate had been slaughtered by human hunters. If it hadn’t been for my mother’s emotions running high, she would have never made someone a slave.” I reply firmly.
“Well the Dragon race hasn’t forgiven the humans yet.” Raya the dragon represent states speaking up, “It is because of their humans and their connection with the phoenix that caused so many in our horde to die. Our numbers have never been the same. The dragon race does not trust any human, that includes our new Queen.” Raya responds spitting at her feet when she says the word Queen.
My vision turns completely read and all I can see is Raya’s jugular vein throbbing. I can feel my teeth sharpen against my tongue and the veins beginning to pop out on my face. I was going to show the summit what a beast I can be. I am going to kill Raya right her and now, spraying the entire summit with her blood.
Ambrose looks like he is going to say something but before he gets a chance there is a loud explosion nearby, and everyone in the room, is thrown against the walls from the impact of the explosion. Just before my vision fades completely out, I catch Ash, Hectate, and Raya, teleporting out of the room, seemingly unaffected by the blast.
Nik, Mary’s been taken is the last thing I hear, before my mind is taken over by darkness.
