Chapter 11: Nancy!
As soon as they left the school gates, Annabel sent Logan home and made plans with her group of friends to go to the city’s most upscale Japanese restaurant. Being tightly controlled by Thomas for the past six months, after the New Year, she had made another trip to New Avalon. Her grandmother had secretly given her quite a bit of money, so she naturally wanted to spend it lavishly.
After not seeing each other for a month, Mason’s hair had grown even longer, almost covering his eyes, looking particularly disheveled. Annabel teased, “It’s only been a month, what’s with the mess?”
“None of your business, Annabel! You’re too much!” Mason retorted.
“What did I do? Why are you so mad? Did your dad beat you again?”
“You…”
He glanced at Orla, who ignored him. She only kept asking Annabel, “Is Logan at home? Did he mention me to you?” Completely ignoring Mason’s fierce gaze.
Annabel quietly asked Alex, “What’s going on?”
“Are you kidding me? Did you introduce Orla to Logan? Don’t you know Mason likes her? They’ve been fighting over this. Mason even smashed his guitar, and they’re arguing to disband the band.”
“She kept begging me, so I gave her Logan’s Facebook.” Annabel glanced at Orla, who was wearing a low-cut sweater that barely covered her short skirt, showcasing her curvy figure and long legs in high heels, looking very attractive.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Annabel puzzled, “Are she and Logan together now? He shouldn’t like someone like her.”
“What do you know? Why wouldn’t a man like this kind of figure? Besides, Orla is actively trying to seduce him. ”
“I did it to make Orla give up. Who knew it would turn out like this.”
Annabel smacked her forehead, regretting her actions. She knew she had done something particularly nasty to Mason. She promised Mason privately, “Don’t worry, I’ll break them up.”
Thomas came home early that evening, and naturally, he noticed Annabel’s absence from the dinner table. Logan solemnly said, “She has a friend’s birthday today, so she said she’d be back later.”
Thomas snorted coldly, but Brenna, afraid of him getting angry, hurriedly interjected, “School doesn’t start until tomorrow. She just came back from overseas, so she must miss her friends.”
Thomas wasn’t angry either. He said casually, “It’s fine. Let her enjoy herself for a few days. When she’s done spending that little bit of money she has, then I’ll deal with her.”
Logan knew that at Annabel’s level, she wouldn’t stand a chance against his father.
Annabel spends money without restraint, and it’s likely she’ll run out soon. Logan, on the other hand, seems to have no special desires for food and clothing. The pocket money he’s saved up over the years is probably enough for a down payment on a house.
When Logan was fifteen, Thomas mentioned Annabel’s pocket money, and Logan asked if he could open an account to play the stock market. Thomas was pleased and immediately arranged for him to open an account. He didn’t mind whether he won or lost since the Green Family wasn’t short of money. Occasionally, Thomas would chat with him about financial investments, and Logan listened with great interest, much to Thomas’s surprise.
After indulging in eating and drinking for a few days, Annabel eventually began to restrain herself, partly thanks to David.
“I’ve been thinking about this question for a long time and still don’t know how to solve it. Can you help me?”
Right after class, Annabel, who is eager to learn and improve, came to David with her physics workbook. The teachers exchanged knowing glances; it was obvious that Annabel had taken a liking to this young and handsome intern teacher. Otherwise, why wouldn’t she ask about other assignments?
David was the most popular among this group of intern teachers – handsome, enthusiastic, and sunny. Annabel wasn’t the first to come to him regularly, but she was the most special.
Because, he was the strictest with Annabel, forbidding her from being inattentive in class, not handing in her assignments, and skipping classes.
It was strange, though. Even with someone as rebellious as Annabel, no matter how harsh David was with her or how he put her down, she would still come to him privately to ask him questions and play basketball with him, as if nothing had ever happened. Later, whenever Annabel caused trouble in any class, the teachers would always turn to David to deal with it.
David pulled out a chair for her, opened her workbook, and patiently explained the problems on the scratch paper. She sat to his left, catching a glimpse of his profile. Annabel’s attention was drawn to his high nose, lips of moderate thickness, and a pimple on his forehead. She thought to herself, “Mr. Curry looks quite handsome.”
“Are you even listening?” David suddenly turned his head and lightly tapped her forehead. Annabel exclaimed and quickly nodded, “Yeah, yeah, yeah…”
After David finished explaining and the bell rang for class, he hurried Annabel to her next class.
Halfway there, she stopped. “Would you like to play basketball after class?”
David nodded.
Annabel jumped with joy. “I’ll wait for you!”
She bounced out the door, only to collide with Nancy coming in.
Some girls have gossiped about David and Nancy being a couple. Annabel heard about it and went to ask David if he had a girlfriend. He didn’t give a direct answer, which left Annabel feeling frustrated.
Actually, Nancy is quite good-looking, but she always acts arrogant, which makes her quite unlikable. Nevertheless, she’s still a teacher, so Annabel decided to start the conversation politely: “Sorry.”
Nancy rubbed her sore forehead from the collision and angrily asked, “What’s wrong with you?” Then she turned to David indignantly, “Is this the kind of student you teach, without any manners?”
Annabel, who had intended to be polite, but unable to hold back after hearing what she said, pointing at Nancy’s nose with a fierce expression, she retorted, “What did you say!”
“Annabel, hurry up and go to class!” Seeing Annabel getting angry, David quickly stopped her.
Annabel looked at David with a face full of grievance and dissatisfaction. “She started it.”
David came over, pushing Annabel with her mane up, and softened his tone, “Go to class quickly, or you’ll be late.”
Reluctantly, Annabel left, but luckily it was class time, so there weren’t many people in the office.
David sighed, “Nancy, you’re not a college student anymore, you’re a teacher. How can you lose your temper with a student?”
Nancy, venting her frustration, slammed her textbook heavily on the desk and sneered, “Your students are really something. Don’t tell me you can’t see that she likes you. Or do you have a penchant for underage girls? Pedophilia, perhaps?”
David turned his chair away from her, saying, “I treat all my students equally. She’s just mischievous, so I naturally have to discipline her more.”
Nancy scoffed, “Yeah, your phone is on 24/7, tutoring her homework every day, comforting her when she’s upset, dealing with her mistakes, spending weekends playing basketball with her. Her parents don’t even spend as much time with her as you do, and she’s not even sixteen yet. Do you realize you’re committing a crime?”
David couldn’t be bothered arguing with Nancy and turned back to continue grading papers. “Boring.”
A lazy voice at the door chimed in, “Out of the two classes David teaches, seven out of ten girls are secretly in love with him, not just Annabel. Are you gonna be jealous of everyone?”
Paul walked in with a stack of documents in his hands.
Nancy’s face flushed red. “Who’s jealous?”
The three of them were college classmates, and since Nancy is high maintenance, they usually try to accommodate her.
