Chapter 258 Going Back to Work
“It’s raining outside now, what are you doing outside?”
Rex asked with a serious expression, sounding concerned.
“Rex, I want to go find Lamont. I’ve been trying to call him but he’s not answering. I’m worried he might be in danger,” Amelie said.
“Don’t worry about him right now. Just stay home and rest. He’s the CEO of Prosperity Global Entertainment, what danger could he possibly be in? Stop worrying about things that don’t concern you!”
Rex replied, sounding displeased. He grabbed Amelie’s hand and pulled her back into their room.
“I’m not going to spoil you this time. You can’t go anywhere,” he added sternly.
“Rex!”
Amelie protested, wanting to persuade him, but he had already left the room.
She pounded on the door, but it was no use.
Two days passed like this, with Amelie confined to their room while Rex told her that Lamont had gone overseas to
deal with some business.
Amelie felt somewhat relieved.
“Amelie, I know you’re probably mad at me right now, but I was worried that you might do something reckless and
hurt yourself. I see that you’re feeling better and can go back to the film set, so don’t worry about anything else.”
Rex said as he moved closer to Amelie, trying to comfort her.
“Rex, I’m fine.”
Amelie replied, wanting to leave. She knew that she had already delayed filming due to her own issues, not to mention
the issue with Lamont.
Amelie returned to the film set.
“Are you okay, Amelie?”
Belen asked, looking worried.
“I’m fine. It’s just that…”
Amelie started to say, then suddenly remembered something and quickly picked up her phone.
After filming, Emelie returned to the company to pack her things.
The sky outside the window was already pitch black.
Just then, the door of the office opened, and Amelie quickly looked over to see that it was Lamont who had appeared.
“Why are you back?”
Lamont’s lips curled into a smile as he came over to her.
“Of course I miss you.”
“You’re so cheesy!”
Amelie packed her things and put on her bag, heading towards the door.
Just as she took a few steps, she suddenly thought of something and quickly stopped, turning around to look at Lamont in surprise.
“Why are you back now? Have you finished your work overseas?”
“Of course not, I dare not delay. I heard you’ve returned to work, so I rushed back to see you.”
Lamont looked serious, which made Emelie a little shy.
“Hmph, I won’t forgive you so easily!”
She suppressed a laugh and walked out of the office in her high heels.
“Amelie, you can’t be ungrateful!”
Cynthia was awakened by a nightmare, and quickly sat up.
“It was all just a dream…”
She took a deep breath and slowly calmed down.
By now, her back was already soaked.
“You’re awake? Have some water!”
A familiar voice came from the door, and Cynthia suddenly realized what was happening as she looked in shock at Jeff walking towards her with a glass.
“You, why are you here?”
Cynthia felt a wave of panic wash over her as she quickly checked herself, but was relieved to find that she was neatly dressed under the covers.
“Don’t you remember?”
Jeff looked a little disappointed.
Cynthia held her head and tried to recall what had happened yesterday, but she could only remember bits and pieces of the events, and her head was still pounding from last night’s drinking.
Seeing her in pain, Jeff walked over with concern.
“Don’t think about it. Is your head hurting? Have some porridge and take some medicine, it will help.”
He said softly and was about to feed her water.
They obviously had a conflict yesterday, how could he be so gentle? Could this be a dream?
Cynthia’s mind was in a mess now.
She waved her hand decisively, “No, I’ll drink it myself.”
Jeff was taken aback by the change in her attitude. He wished that time could stay frozen in yesterday.
Lamont rushed back from his overseas job and needed to work remotely as a result.
He arrived at the company early in the morning and had one urgent meeting after another to deal with the overseas emergencies
After finishing a meeting, Lamont picked up his coffee and took a sip.
“Mr. Byron, there’s someone at the front desk who claims to be your old friend and wants to talk to you about cooperation.”
Miriam knocked and walked in, holding the materials needed for the next meeting.
“Old friend?” Lamont furrowed his brows slightly.
“Mr. Byron, it’s said to be a woman…” Miriam said in a low voice, looking at him tentatively.
“Give me the materials.”
Lamout didn’t even look at him, put down the coffee in his hand, and prepared to continue working.
“Mr. Byron, don’t you want to meet her? What if she really is your old friend?”
Miriam, emboldened for some reason, spoke more than usual.
Lamont didn’t answer and instead raised his gaze to give her a cold look.
Staring back at the cold gaze, Miriam quickly shut her mouth, her palms sweaty with nervousness.
“Mr. Byron, these are the materials for the next meeting.”
He quickly put the materials on the table, and fled before Lamont got angry at him.
After finishing the morning’s work, Lamont prepared to go out and have a meal with Amelie.
He took out his phone and dialed Amelie’s number after getting off the elevator.
As he was about to walk out of the lobby, suddenly a woman blocked his path.
Lamont was looking at his phone and didn’t notice her. If it weren’t for the high heels on the ground, the two of them would have almost collided.
Lamont raised his head displeasedly.
“Why don’t you see me?” Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
It was Leila who spoke.
“Move aside!” Lamont was very displeased with her and spoke in a cold and low tone, then he was about to leave.
Leila was infuriated by his attitude.
“Lamont, you can’t be so heartless! We’ve been together for so long, how could you…”
The lobby was abuzz with people, the woman who intercepted Lamont quickly drawing the attention of many curious onlookers.
It was quitting time now, and employees passing by would whisper.
“That’s all in the past, get out of the way.”
Lamont remained expressionless and left through the lobby’s door.
“Hey!”
Leila stamped her foot, watching his resolute figure.
Lamont paid her no attention.
Without Leila’s involvement, he wouldn’t have had a conflict with Amelie.

He believed he could simply break up with her, but some nosy employees took photos of them talking and started spreading rumors.
The driver had already parked the car on the side of the road, and Lamont got in the car.
Leila chased after him, but was still too late.
“Well, pretending not to know me, looks like I’ll have to think of another way.”
Instead of giving up, she became more interested
There was a spokesperson shoot this morning, and Tina, the spokesperson, was a top–tier celebrity. As the CEO,
Lamont had to show up.
The shoot went smoothly, and Tina was quite cooperative.
“Mr. Byron, I just asked the director. According to this shooting schedule, we can finish tomorrow morning. If you have other arrangements, you can go and leave me in charge here,” Miriam whispered to Lamont’s ear.
