Chapter 329 A Price for Redemption
Peyton led Frey to the most secluded booth in the shop. Frey approached it and saw a woman dressed in gray sportswear, her collar pulled up to obscure the scars on her neck. She wore sunglasses and gazed out the window at the bustling scene outside.
Frey sat down across from her. Maggie quickly removed her sunglasses.
Frey observed her and understood why Maggie needed the glasses.
There were noticeable scars at the corners of her eyes. Maggie's nervousness was evident as she glanced around before meeting Frey's gaze. A flicker of jealousy crossed her face.
"You're truly ruthless, Ms. Frey," Maggie said coldly.
Frey smiled faintly, ordering two cups of coffee and pushing one toward Maggie. "Then you should ask your mother if she was ruthless back then."noveldrama
A look of unease crossed Maggie's face, but she took a deep breath and continued, "I never expected my mother's death would be connected to you. In fact..."
"I used to admire you when I was studying. I aspired to become an outstanding designer in Saeville or even globally, like you."
Frey frowned. "Let's get to the point. I don't enjoy reminiscing with people I dislike."
Maggie looked embarrassed for a moment but then met Frey's eyes. "I want a sum of money to go abroad and study at a design school." "Why?" Frey asked coldly.
Maggie smiled lightly and pulled out her phone, showing Frey several pictures.
Frey took the phone and studied the images closely. Her expression shifted as she took in the disturbing photos.
One photo showed a gruesome
mass of blood and flesh on an iron
plate. Frey's tears spilled
uncontrollably, her body trembling with cold as if the chill prated her very bones.
The ambient sounds of music, conversations, and waiters walking by faded away, replaced by a ringing in her ears and a blank mind.
Three years had passed, and she thought she had moved on, but the photos shattered her composure.
"Ms. Frey! Ms. Frey!" Maggie's urgent voice broke through Frey's distress.
Frey threw Maggie's phone aside and gasped for air.
"Frey!" Peyton, noticing Frey's distress, rushed over and rolled up her sleeves, ready to confront Maggie. "Peyton, don't worry! I need to speak with her!"
Frey gripped Peyton's arm, her hands slick with sweat.
"Peyton, are you okay? What's going on with this woman?"
Panic flashed across Maggie's face. She hadn't anticipated that a few photos would affect Frey so deeply. She felt a mix of satisfaction and fear, knowing she was walking a dangerous line.
Abigail likely had no idea about Maggie, or she would have
eliminated her by now. Maggie was
an unplanned child, given away by her mother and later reclaimed.

Her mother had supported her studies secretly and had sent her a large sum of money along with these photos after the incident three years ago. Peyton brought a glass of hot milk to Frey, who drank it and gradually calmed down. Peyton decided to stay close, keeping a watchful eye on the situation.
