CHAPTER 51: The Real Clarine
"ALPHA KARIUS, WAIT!" Lilian shouted and followed Alpha Karius quickly. His pace was fast but she
was glad that she was able to keep up with him. She held his arm and to her surprise, he pulled his
hand away from her harshly and looked at her with his clenched jaw. It was as if he was so disgusted
with her touch. There's suddenly a huge lump in her throat making it hard to breathe. She gasped a bit
seeing how serious his face is but she gulped and said, "P-Please, let's talk. I can explain..."
Alpha Karius chuckled without any trace of humor in his tone. He can't believe that Lilian still has the
guts to explain to him what he saw. It was crystal clear to him. She kissed another man. And it fucking
hurts like hell. So, this is how he is going to taste his own medicine now, huh?
"What else do you need to explain, huh? I saw it with my own two eyes, Lilian. I ain't that stupid to not
know that you let another man kiss you like that!" He spat, angrily as he inhaled a deep breath, trying to
calm himself. His hand balled into fist. He wanted to punch someone right now and let out all his
frustrations and anger! He wanted to divert his attention to other things to forget what he saw because
it hurts him to the core!
Oh, damn. He knew that maybe this was all part of her plan to hurt her but it still hurts! He should be
ready that this day will come... Maybe Calyx was right. She will be the cause of his downfall someday.
And from what he feels right now, it feels like his heart has been stamped on the ground a couple of
times. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
"I-I'm.. I'm sorry..." Lilian almost whispered as she looked down, suddenly feeling ashamed to even
meet Alpha Karius' gaze. His eyes are bloodshot, full of hatred and frustrations right now. "I... I didn't
mean to..." She can't completely form her words anymore as her tears suddenly brim at the corner of
her eyes. She's also hurting just by seeing the hurt in his eyes.
Oh, goddess. What has she done? Why is her heart also hurting right now?
"You didn't mean to kiss him? Is that it?" He chuckled again. "Well... nevermind. I'm so stupid to fall into
your trap... to fall into your own game... your sweet fucking revenge." He shook his head
disappointedly. "Did you enjoy hurting me, hmm? Did you enjoy hurting me to the bone, love?" The
words that escaped from his mouth were lace with bitterness and pain.
Love. Lilian can't believe that that endearment is hurting her now. He still called her that way even
though he's already hurting. She wasn't able to form the right words anymore as she let her tears
stream down her face.
"Don't fucking cry on me! This is what you like, right? This is what you desire the most! To see me
hurting." He paused a bit as he let out a deep sigh. "Fuck. It hurts like hell! Seeing the woman that I
truly love... my mate... kissing someone else is like a damn suicide. Is it satisfying that your revenge
works on me, huh? Is it?!"
Lilian almost jumped from where she's standing when he raised his voice at him. "P-Please, let's talk
calmly about our issues. You don't have to... s-shout," she still manages to say as she tries to look up
at him and meet his angry and dark eyes. She was suddenly intimidated a bit on how he stared at her.
"Hah! Congratulations, love. Your revenge to hurt me worked! It fucking works!" He looked up a bit and
smiled sarcastically, like he can't also believe that it happened to him... like maybe it was just part of his
imagination. "I know you planned all of this but... fuck, I still can't believe it. I actually gave you the
benefit of the doubt and thought that I could maybe change your mind. I thought you could love me
again for the second time but I was wrong... I was so damn wrong to think about it. I realized that I was
just imagining things... that you will be for me again like our first time but it turns out I was wrong."
She gasped, suddenly find the courage to talk. "Alpha Karius... yes, I a-admit, it was all part of my
revenge. I was h-hurt. And I lost our first... c-child. This place was the very dear reminder of the
memories I loathed the most. And you chose to break me... And I blamed you for the death of our little
angel. Aside from that... I e-experienced a lot of humiliation from the wolves here..."
Bringing back the past again was a bit of a challenge to her. She's still hurting as she remembers all
her hardships again. It was as if it only happened yesterday!
He smiled bitterly. "I understand, Lilian. I understand your pain so damn well. I guess I deserved to be
hurt like this. And I'm sorry for everything that you've been through. I was insensitive to not remember
those things that you experienced here in this pack. I apologize for the words I said to you before when
I broke up with you. I didn't mean it. I had no other choice back then..." He sighed deeply as his hands
suddenly lifted to his hair and pulled it harshly.
"W-What do you mean you had no other choice?" Lilian is suddenly confused by his words.
Alpha Karius contemplated a bit if he would say it to her now or not. But then... he thinks it's time for
her to know about it. It's her right to know since she's also a victim for his wrong decisions before. "I... I
was informed by a witch before that there will be a rogue attack in my pack even though we have a
very strong force when it comes to our pack warriors, I had no other choice but to... merge with a
strong pack and that's when Gianna and her father's pack came into the picture. I... asked them a favor
to make the pack stronger... They are also my priority. I'm an Alpha... I should set aside my feelings first
and think about my responsibilities." He sighed.
"That's the reason why you... hurt me with those words before?" She asked, still crying silently. She
suddenly couldn't accept it. He broke her with his harsh words before because he needed to save his
pack. She doesn't know what to feel anymore... She's torn on understanding his reason since it
involves his pack and responsibilities or she wouldn't understand his reasons.
"Yes... I know it was a wrong decision but... I had no other choice. I have to protect the whole pack.."
"But the rogue attack didn't happen," she bitterly said. She knew because even though she didn't want
to hear so much about his pack before when she was in Midnight pack, she's still updated to what's
happening to Alpha Karius and his pack because she's hearing so much about it everywhere.
He nodded. "I know, and that only means that it will still happen in the future. This time, I decided to put
my trust in this pack. We won't need another pack to help us because we can do this all together. We
can beat all the rogues out there because we have unity..." He smiled sadly. "I'm sorry for my wrong
decisions before."
She sighed. "It already happened. And... I also need to tell you something."
"What is it?" He asked, still couldn't believe that their talk went to another matter. For some reasons, his
anger towards her and that man Jackson subsided a bit but the pain in his chest is still there. He
couldn't seem to remove it from his mind, especially his wolf. Him being a possessive and territorial
alpha keeps on kicking on his system and he couldn't just shrug it away from his head.
"Clarine... have you observed something weird about her?"
His brow raised a bit. "Why?"
"Nothing. I feel off around her. There's something wrong with her--"
"I know. That's why I'm keeping her close. Don't talk too much about it. Someone might hear you." Her
eyes widened a bit as he sighed deeply. "She's not the Clarine that you used to know anymore. I could
already sense something off towards her when we rescued her and figured out that she's someone
else..."
"W-What do you mean?"
His face turned serious. "The real Clarine is dead. She's Gianna. You should be careful around her
from now on."
