The Invincible Arthur Gardner

Chapter 28 - Luxurious Living

Chapter 28 - Luxurious Living

Arthur continued to drive his car at an exceptionally rapid pace, and up ahead, he noticed a multi-level

highway that would likely hinder the Helicopter from catching up with him.

The police cars that had been pursuing him were now far behind, giving him very little time to find a

way to escape their pursuit.

Arthur attempted to pull up alongside another car, then he rolled down his window and shouted, "I'll

give you five times what you paid for your car!"

"What!? Are you kidding me?" the man driving the BMW Z29, a large black car, shouted in response to

Arthur's offer. Astonished, he watched as Arthur quickly sped up and overtook him, eventually pulling

over ahead of him.

Arthur pulled over to the emergency road section, and he and Claudina quickly got out of the car, still

tightly holding hands. The man in the BMW also stepped out with ease.

"What, Claudina? Wait?" the man said, appearing to be confused at the sight of Claudina.

"I'll pay you five times as much for this car!" Arthur exclaimed.

The man was about to utter something when Arthur and Claudina quickly jumped into his car.

"What's the account number?" Arthur asked urgently.

Without wasting any time, the man quickly recited his account number and then Arthur drove off in the

BMW.

"What? Is this a dream? I can't be scammed, can I? That was really Claudina!"

The man felt his phone vibrate, and upon checking it, he realized that he had received a transfer of

funds worth five times the price of his car! Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

"What the hell! I'm not dreaming!" he exclaimed.

The man inspected the car belonging to the man who had been with Claudina earlier, finding it securely

locked. He was perplexed as to why that guy had unexpectedly parked it on the side of the highway.

Just as he was wondering how he was going to get home, he heard the blaring of police sirens in the

distance. Within moments, he was encircled by police cars and officers, who shouted, "Don't move! Put

your hands up!"

He desperately responded, "Wait! Wait! I'm innocent!"

Gliding safely, Arthur and Claudina managed to evade the police cars and the helicopter that had been

chasing them. Claudina's face lit up with relief, and she turned to Arthur, her expression now one of a

smile. "I didn't think you'd actually be able to solve this problem with money, Mr. Arthur," she said.

Arthur turned to Claudina, his brows raised in surprise. "Really? Is that what you think?"

"Ah!" Claudina's cheeks reddened as she realized she had put her foot in her mouth. "No, I mean,

seeing you drive like that, I wouldn't be surprised if you said you were a professional racer.

Nonetheless, I can see you know how to make the most of your money and take care of things, even

when I hadn't even considered it myself."

For the first time that night, Arthur finally let out a chuckle from his mouth and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yes... thank God... we escaped," he said. "I think we should go home and rest."

He looked back at Claudina while still driving the car, though at a slower speed than before. "Would you

like something to eat, Claudina?" he asked.

"Hmmm.... Yes," Claudina replied, her face brightening with amusement. "I'm feeling quite drained with

all the action scenes we've been doing, but I think I'm still up for it." She let out a relieved breath before

continuing. "Would you like to try my cooking, Mr. Arthur?"

Although Claudina had experience cooking in the orphanage, she wasn't very confident. Singing was

her favorite activity, but preparing food was a close second. That night, she felt the need to relieve her

tension by cooking. Perhaps it was her way of expressing gratitude to Arthur for everything.

Claudina fell silent, feeling that the place Arthur was taking her to was the perfect spot to get a meal

and stay the night. "My cooking surely won't compare to that place," she thought to herself. "Have I

made the wrong offer?" she wondered.

"That will be fun!" Arthur answered enthusiastically. "There's no way I could possibly refuse Ms.

Claudina's generous offer to cook dinner for me, right?"

Claudina was taken aback by Arthur's answer, studying his face illuminated by the streetlights they

passed. He seemed almost too perfect, a man of unquantifiable wealth, yet displaying a modesty that

was either genuine or a cleverly-crafted facade.

"Do you really want to try my cooking, Mr. Arthur?" Claudina asked quietly, her voice barely above a

whisper.

Arthur chuckled softly in response to Claudina's question. "Yes, definitely," he said with a smile. "You

need to cook for me twice, since I helped you out twice. Don't try to be sneaky."

Claudina felt that she was too suspicious of many people; she was silent, trying to compose herself and

her emotions. Was she being too prejudicial towards others?

She reflected on the various experiences she had encountered throughout her life and pondered,

"Didn't I get more opportunities than most people?"

Claudina pondered if she had been ungrateful and unable to recognize the blessings that always

surrounded her.

Claudina wondered if it was too difficult to let someone into her life; even when someone had risked

their lives to save her, she still suspected them of ulterior motives. She felt remorseful for her

assumptions about Arthur and closed her eyes. "I have to apologize to Arthur," she thought.

The car Arthur was driving then approached the most luxurious hotel in the city, the Golden Chamber

hotel. He pulled into the VIP parking lot, where he also spotted the limited edition car he had recently

purchased.

Arthur flashed a smile as he opened the car door and extended his hand to help Claudina out. Smiled

as he helped Claudina out of the car.

They stepped into a VIP elevator and soon arrived at the impressive structure's highest level. On this

floor, there were multiple rooms on all sides, filled with luxury items, plush couches, a television, a

minibar, a kitchen, and all the necessary amenities - as if an elegant home had been placed on this

floor.

Arthur walked over to a small communication device mounted on the wall near a bar counter. "Please

bring pajamas for a woman," he said, thoughtfully tapping his finger against the device. He then turned

to Claudina and added, "The size should be appropriate for Edna's body, and bring them to my room,

please."

He requested the hotel maid, who was his employee, to bring a change of clothes for Claudina.

Despite being no stranger to luxury, Claudina was still captivated by the room. It was her first time

setting foot in the Golden Chamber, and she was astonished by all the lavish amenities in such a large

space.

"It must be nice to stay in this room," she remarked with a hint of admiration.

"It must be," Arthur agreed with a nod.

"Claudina," Arthur said quietly, pointing towards one of the rooms, "you may use the room on the other

end. I'm going to take a quick dip in the bathtub and, when I'm done, we can have dinner, okay?"

"Uh!" Claudina looked taken aback, and then she nodded slowly. "Thanks, Mr. Arthur," she responded

with a grateful smile.
