Chapter 1790
Chapter 1790
Phew...
Once Governor Quill got into his car, everyone—including the visitors who had yet to leave from sheer terror-all breathed a collective sigh of relief. They really would not dare to breathe too loudly in his presence.
Still, Nux Hamner, the mayor of Bralog who had come with Governor Quill, remained.
He turned toward Leino, who was still on his knees, and snapped, "What do you have to say now?! Will you confess, or shall we wait to sentence you after the investigation?!"
"I..."
Leino was ashen-faced and completely drained, and he was trembling even as he prostrated himself, sighing. "I-I will confess."
"At least you understand your situation."
Nux snorted and turned to bow at Frank reverently. "What should we do with him, sir?"
The onlooking crowd was left in an uproar.
"My god... did the mayor of Bralog just address a younger man as 'sir'?"
"Don't you see? That geezer just now... my god, I really haven't met a man with his...presence!"
"And the young man is his grandson! I guess he's something special too!"
"Oh, dear. Commissioner Himmich has really kicked his foot on a rock this time."
Leino could certainly hear the comments, but he still remained prostrated on the ground, afraid to get up as he waited for Frank's sentence.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Still, Frank was not sure about the law, so he turned to ask Nux, "What's the punishment for conspiring to sell national historical and cultural artifacts?"
Nux thought about it. "The culprit and his family will all be arrested and sent to Blackwater."
Frank nodded. "Then Blackwater it is."
"No... Please, Mr. Lawrence! Mercy!"
Leino kowtowed repeatedly at Frank, fear showing on his face when he heard that he would be sent to Blackwater.
He was the police commissioner of Bralog, but in under ten minutes, he was kneeling and begging Frank.
The onlooking crowd could not be blamed for thinking that this almost felt unreal.
"Hmph. I warned you, but you chose poorly."
Frank was not holding back-after all, Leino would not if their positions were reversed, not to mention that he already had Frank thrown in Blackwater once.
It was the perfect opportunity for him to have a taste of Blackwater, too.
And as Leino was taken away with a look of despair, only Huub was left.
Still, just a minute later, a pudgy geezer arrived, wheezing as he came running.
His face contorted in fury as soon as he saw Huub passed out and lying unattended on the floor.
"What's going on here?!" he bellowed. "What happened, Huey?!"
Nheless, his heart ached to see his beloved grandson faint in broad daylight. As he rushed up to pick up Huub, a large group of Droitner Inc. bodyguards arrived behind him.
However, even though the old man was Paul Droitner, the current CEO
o Inc., his rage merely
merely looked hilarious to Frank and
everyone else.
Still, no one was answering despite Paul bellowing at them several times, though it was more apt to say that no one dared to. Eventually, Frank said neutrally, "He's not dead. He simply passed out from shock."
Paul recognized Frank right away, his surprise turning to rage. "You're Frank Lawrence! How dare you hurt my Huey! You've really done it now!"
"It's you?!"
