Like a dead end again
“Hello sir, Her line is busy”, she said over the phone.
“Get me Mr. Brooks now”! I ordered as the ladies left my office.
“Yes sir,” said Lydia.
“Good afternoon, Mr Alex”. he greeted as he approached my desk.
“Please have your seat Mr. Brooks, I heard you are close to Mrs Millers”. I said pointing to the leather seats in front of me.
“Could you tell me where she is now?” I demanded.
“We spoke yesterday at noon and she just flew to Chicago.” he replied.
“We have been trying to reach her for sometime now, but her phone is unreachable.” I explained to Mr Brooks.
“Let me try her line sir”, he offered. “It’s ringing”. he said tapping the desk.
“Hello, Mrs Miller”. “Hold on please the CEO wants to speak with you”. he said handing over the phone.
“Mrs Miller, how do you do. Claire said she dropped a message last week could you remember?” I asked.
“No sir, we have not spoken ever since I went on leave.” she explained.
“Alright thank you”. I said handing back the phone to Mr Brooks.
“Oh My God!” I exclaimed holding my head.
“Who was she trying to mention?” I thought
(Narrator POV)
Alex and Dan are sitting in a car outside the company’s office, staring at the building through the windshield.
Alex is tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Dan is sitting in the passenger seat, on his phone contacting some IT experts.
Finally, Alex turns to Dan and says, “we have less than 10 hours to get an evidence”.
Dan looks up from his phone and gives Alex a rueful smile. “I know,” he says. “It seems crazy, but we have to do it. Claire is innocent, and we have to prove it.”
Alex nods, but his face is still tense. “I know, but I’m worried about what could happen if we could not get her out? What if she doesn’t get freed?” Dan shrugs. “We will find an evidence,” he says, but he doesn’t sound entirely convinced.
(Dan’s POV)
“I have an idea, you’re the CEO and sometimes ago we installed an app on your old office tab phone. A security app.” I said.
Alex takes a deep breath and turns back to the building. He pulls out his phone from a drawer
“Ohh. So dusty” he said
He then opens the company’s security app. “I’m logging in now,” he says, his fingers trembling slightly.
We both watched anxiously as the screen fills with a list of security cameras.
“Which one should we check first?” Alex asks. I pointed at one of the cameras. “That one. It’s right by the server room.” Alex nods and taps on the camera feed. It takes a moment to load, and then they’re looking at a view of the server room. Everything seems quiet and normal.
“There’s no one there,” Alex says, sounding disappointed.
But then I noticed something. “Wait, look at the corner of the room. Do you see that?” Alex squints at the screen. “I see it,” he says. “It’s a shadow of a female.
Increase the volume, Alex.
From the footage…
The lights switch on… Claire enters and finds and meets Kelvin operating the company’s computers, she questions him and threatened to report him. Then she storms out angrily.
Then a shadow moves slowly, and then it seems to grow larger. Alex and Dan watch in horror as the shadow expands until it fills the entire screen. And then, with a loud crash, the camera feed goes dark.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Alex and I stare at the black screen in shock. “What just happened?” Alex asks, his voice shaking. Dan swallows hard. “I think the camera was destroyed.”
“We’ve got an evidence, thank you Dan” he said with a broad grin.
“I got your back bro always,”I said tapping him.
(Narrator)
The courtroom is silent, except for the ticking of a clock on the wall. Claire tries to focus on the clock, but her mind keeps wandering. She starts to think about her family, and how worried they must be about her. She was angry that none of her family members were present for her trial.
She thinks about the sacrifices she has made, no one could come , she muttered as a tear trickled down her face. But then she’s brought back to the present by the sound of a door opening. The judge enters the courtroom, takes his seat at the front of the courtroom, and the trial begins.
Claire tries to focus on the proceedings, but her mind keeps wandering. She starts to think about the evidence that the prosecution will present, and how she’ll respond to it.
The defendant brought their evidence, but the Judge claimed it wasn’t enough.
Alex doesn’t have a say anymore, he behaved as though he was against her.
Then , the judge asked for a witness.
Mrs Maria Rodriguez , the head of Vision Tech’s marketing department stepped forward.
“My Lord, I am Maria Rodriguez. I received a call from Claire on the 22nd, she said she tried others phone, but it wasn’t going through. And she decided to call me, she claimed it was urgent and then I recorded it. As she was still speaking, I heard a hot slap on her face and I couldn’t hear her anymore.” Mrs. Rodriguez explained to the Judge.
And recently we saw a viral video that proves she’s not guilty and I have that on my phone here
“Could you give the phone to the clerk.
Mrs Maria handed over the phone to the clerk.” the Judge requested.
“Play the recording,” The judge ordered.
The trial goes on for hours, and Claire finds it difficult to stay focused. She feels exhausted and overwhelmed, but she forces herself to keep going. The judge calls for a recess, and Claire is led out of the courtroom. She collapses into a chair in the hallway, feeling completely drained.
She closes her eyes and tries to relax, but her thoughts are racing.
She tries to focus on her breathing , and to take them one after the other. But it’s not easy.
When the recess is over, Claire returns to the courtroom and takes her seat. The judge calls for the court to come to order, and he begins to read the verdict. Claire holds her breath as she waits to hear the judge’s decision.
