Chapter 1235
Chapter 1235
"What's eating you, Lisbeth? Did you and Raines have a spat?"
A ghost of a forlorn smile flickered across Lisbeth's face, "I wish it were just a spat. He treats me like a
total stranger now, and we can't even muster up a proper argument."
Aurelia patted her shoulder, "Lisbeth, patience is key here. Raines has lost his memories, and it's
bound to throw you off. Hang in there."
Lisbeth sniffled, "To him, I'm no different than a passerby, no emotions, nothing. I'd rather be the target
of his anger, his blame, anything but this indifference."
Aurelia sighed inwardly. She wasn't quite sure how to comfort Lisbeth. After all, she hadn't walked in
those shoes. If Leopold ever forgot her, she'd be devastated too.
"Have you told him about the baby?"
Lisbeth nodded, feeling a chill as she thought about Raines doubting their child, "He seems not to be
fond of the kid."
Aurelia flinched slightly, "Raines might be dealing with PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. That
could explain his emotional numbness. He needs you now more than ever, and you've got to be strong
to help him."
She remembered how she'd withdrawn into her shell like a snail after her injury in that explosion,
wanting to hide from the world. If it hadn't been for Arnold and William's support, she might never have
bounced back.
Lisbeth drew a sliver of comfort from her friend's words, but her worry for Raines deepened.
"Do you think Raines will get better?"
"We'll see," Aurelia said as she patted Lisbeth's shoulder again, "Let's consult Skyler later, he's got a
degree in psychology. He'll have insights."
"Okay."
The morning brought with it a parade.
After the festivities, Aurelia brought Skyler to the lake.
"Skyler, what's your take on Raines' condition? Could he be suffering from PTSD?"
"He's been locked up by Geoffrey for days, and some psychological scars are inevitable. As for his
amnesia, it might be psychogenic, a forced forgetting. Discovering Lisbeth’s betrayal was probably too
much for him to accept, so he forced himself to forget her. It's a psychological issue, and unless he
resolves this inner conflict, his memory won't return," Skyler explained.
"We'll have a chat with Raines later to see if you can gauge his state of mind," Aurelia whispered.
Raines must have loved Lisbeth deeply to find her betrayal so unbearable.
Skyler nodded.
They returned from the lake and went to Raines' room together.
"Raines, it's such a beautiful day. Why don't you join us for a stroll in the garden? The cherry blossoms
are in bloom, and they're a sight to behold," Aurelia suggested.
Raines hesitated but eventually followed them outside.
"You and Lisbeth are staying at Rosette Garden Estates now. After the festivities, you'll head back
there," she continued.
The Stirling family celebrated at Mossy Rock Retreat, bustling with relatives. Then everyone would
return to their own homes.
Raines glanced at her, "I don't want to live with Lisbeth." NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
"Raines, she's your wife. She played a big part in rescuing you. Plus, you're expecting a little one, and
she and the baby need your care."
"I don't remember her. To me, she's just a stranger," Raines said coldly.
"Rosette Garden Estates is big enough. You don't have to stay in the same room," Aurelia reasoned.
