The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 66

Chapter 66: A massage

…should have seen it coming. Selene’s always had her eye on him.”

Anya’s hands clenched into fists at her sides, her blood boiling at the insinuation. Even though she believed their words were not true, she did not like their assumptions about Daniel. He was still her husband. How dare they speak of her husband in such a manner? How dare they spread lies about him without a shred of evidence? She felt her blood boil.

But as quickly as Anya’s anger flared, it was replaced by a sense of calm.

So what if he was her husband? Many people had never seen her before, as Daniel never took her out with him. Why wouldn’t there be rumors about them?

“…heard they were spotted together at that new restaurant downtown…”

Anya’s mind raced, her thoughts spinning with the absurdity of it all. It still did not stop her from being angry. She could not say she was jealous, but she was definitely dissatisfied that her husband was being tied to some random woman.

With a deep breath, Anya pushed open the door and stepped into the main area of the spa, determined to put the gossip out of her mind and enjoy her day with Wendy.

Wendy greeted her with a warm smile, oblivious to the turmoil raging within Anya. “Are you ready for your massage, dear?” she asked, her voice filled with maternal concern.

Anya forced a smile, nodding as she tried to push aside the nagging doubts that lingered at the back of her mind. “Yes, Wendy,” she replied, her voice steady. “I’m ready.”

As they made their way to the massage rooms, Anya felt a sense of calm wash over her. She knew she couldn’t control what others said or thought about her marriage, but she could control how she reacted to it.

And as she settled onto the massage table, the gentle hands of the masseuse working away the tension in her muscles, Anya made a silent vow to trust in her husband and their love, not

matter what gossip may swirl around them.

Daniel sat behind his desk, his brow furrowed in concern as he listened to his public relations director, Ethan, deliver the latest news.

“People are talking, sir,” Ethan began, his tone serious. “There’s speculation about your relationship with Selene Sinclair.”

Daniel leaned forward, his brow slightly raised. “What kind of speculation?” he asked, his voice oddly dismissive.

Ethan hesitated for a moment before continuing “Some people are saying that now that you’re divorced from Anya, you’ll marry Selene. There is even speculation that you two wens see if for rings,” he explained, his words careful.

Daniel looked as though he had not heard anything, making Ethan uncomfortable.

“Are they blind?” Daniel asked, “Besides, who says I am divorced?”

“You are not, sir?” Ethan asked carefully as he watched Daniel continue to scribble away on his

desk. This was a topic he was very curious about. After all, jus NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

Daniel’s jaw glanced up at the cautious, thin man in front of his desk. “Yes, I am not,” he replied, his tone careless. “My wife only got angry and ran away from home, but she is back now.” At his words, Ethan felt the urge to throw an insult. Who did not know he was divorced? He recalled the days when he suddenly became obsessed with working and got irritated by the mention of his wife’s name. He himself had admitted to him that he had gotten divorced. As the bead of public relations, it was only right to be informed of these things. So Daniel had told him. Yet he is now claiming that the divorce certificate he told him he had gotten never

happened? He did not believe it.

Ethan nodded, his expression a bit strained. “I understand, sir,” he said. “But the rumors are spreading fast. And there’s this photo circulating online…”

Daniel finally paused at his task as Ethan trailed off, knowing all too well what photo he was referring to. “Was I at a parking lot??” he asked, his voice heavy with danger.

Ethan nodded grimly. “Yes,” he confirmed. “In my experience, the photo seems to have been taken at an angle. It’s being taken out of context, of course, but people are talking. They’re saying it looks like you and Selene are more than just friends.”

“We are not even friends,” Daniel corrected him.

“I apologize,”

Daniel let out a frustrated sigh, taping his hand on the hardwood desk. “She never learns,” he muttered under his breath. “That parking spot is the one under this building. Get the surveillance clip. It should be yesterday,” he instructed Ethan.

Ethan nodded, feeling sympathetic towards Selene, who was about to get destroyed online. “I understand, Sire,” he said. “But you should probably post it from the company forum with a quote from you,” he advised.

Daniel nodded; he thought his words made sense. It was one thing to clear the

misunderstanding, and it was another for him to make a statement. “Agreed,” he said firmly.” What do you suggest?”

Ethan

surveillance video for her?” he asked, “What you say needs to hold as much of a slap to her.”

Daniel nodded in agreement. “If we release with the audio, it could be even worse,” he said. ” The surveillance cameras may not have audio capture capabilities, but the camera in my car does.”

Ethan hesitated for a moment before responding. “Is there any scathing thing you want to say?” he said carefully. “It should also make clear that you’re committed to your wife, Anya, and that any speculation about your relationship with Selene is unfounded.”

Daniel’s jaw tightened at the mention of Selene’s name, his irritation mounting. “And what about Selene?” he pressed, his voice sharp. Can you throw out some old dirt on her too? It doesn’t matter if it is about her or her family or her family’s company.”

Ethan swallowed as he said a prayer for Selene. Mr. Shaw was determined to destroy her. His “I can do that. There are some old rumors as well as new ones about their family company that could affect investment. I could circulate it for a bit,” he said, then asked another question, his tone cautious. “Should I let Mr. Sinclair know this attack is coming from you?”

Daniel nodded, his expression dismissive. “Why not? Since he cannot teach his daughter well, he should face the consequences,” he said coldly. “Get started on the statement. And pull up the surveillance video. I want this taken care of as soon as possible.”

Ethan nodded, rising from his seat. “I’ll get right on it, sir,” he accepted his instructions. ”

I should the statement say?” Ethan asked.

“Tell her my wife already ran away from him, and it took me a lot of effort to bring her back. If there are people who want to be mistresses, they should look in the mirror first, then try other families. I cannot afford to keep mistresses like their fathers. My wife has a temper.” Daniel

said, and Ethan suppressed his urge to laugh. How is this a statement? Isn’t this just insulting, Miss Sinclair? People would immediately think that Mr. Sinclair had mistresses outside.

As Ethan left the office, Daniel leaned back in his chair, his mind swirling with a mix of frustration and determination. He knew he needed to set the record straight, to put an end to the rumors once and for all. And with Ethan’s help, he was confident they could do just that.

Anya sat in the salon chair, her eyes closed as the stylist worked o
