Chapter 1773 The Leak
Chapter 1773 The Leak
David carefully watched Charles' face as he told him everything. He knew how serious this whole thing
was. That was why he was so hesitant to tell Charles in the first place. He didn't know how to tell him
properly.
Charles' face darkened as he listened to David. He tapped his fingers on the desk rhythmically and
stared off into space. When David finished his report, Charles didn't say anything.
David didn't say another word either. He remained standing, waiting for Charles to speak.
"Knock, knock," someone's voice suddenly intruded from the door.
Charles and David both looked at the door.
"Come in," David said after Charles nodded at him.
Leila took a deep breath, pushed the door open, and walked in.
She knew about the leaked files long before David did. She didn't realize that it would be such a big
deal. It seemed that Holley's plan was working.
"Leila, what's wrong?" David asked coldly as he looked at Leila.
She ignored David. Instead, she walked to Charles so that she was standing across from him.
Then she put down some files on Charles' desk. She looked into his eyes and said, "President Lu, I
heard about the leaked documents online. Here's my solution: I think before it gets more serious, the
first thing we need to do is go to our partner's company. I would suggest apologizing to them and
coming up with a solution. David, I know you have a lot of connections with news agencies. Have them
take down all of Shining Company's ads right away..."
Leila continued to share her ideas.
David never liked Leila. He just wrote her off as a pretty face, who knew nothing about business. She
wouldn't be here in the first place if it weren't for Melissa. But Leila really impressed him today.
The scandal had just barely started, and Leila had already come up with solutions along with a drafted
proposal. She was even quicker than David.
Charles wasn't really planning on listening to whatever Leila was going to say because he thought that
she was only making trouble again.
However, he was surprised that Leila had come up with constructive suggestions to deal with the crisis
at hand. He lifted his head and looked at Leila, who had a determined look on her face. Upon seeing
this, he picked up the file she had placed on his desk and started reading it.
After a few minutes, Charles said to Leila, "Let's go with your plan."
Then Charles said to David, "Work with Leila, and find out who's behind all this."
"Yes, President Lu!" David answered immediately. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
"Now, go back to work." Charles gestured for Leila and David to leave his office.
David and Leila exchanged glances before leaving.
As soon as David and Leila were out of the office, Leila smiled at David and said to him, "Thank you for
helping me, David."
"I'm doing this for Charles and the company. You don't need to thank me," David said coldly.
Even though Leila had impressed him this time, that didn't mean that he was going to change how he
felt about her.
David and Leila spent the entire day trying to deal with the crisis. They were very efficient as they
quickly came up with a compensation plan for their partner before the issue could get even worse.
Their partner agreed to give the Shining Company a week to settle the problem. As long as Leila and
David could fix everything, all the while making sure they didn't damage their partner's interests,
everything would be fine.
Charles was pretty satisfied with what they had done, even though they couldn't see it on his face. As
David and Leila waited for further instructions, he remained silent.
David purposely coughed as if to bring back Charles' attention.
"President Lu, things are under control for now. And you have a meeting with President Xu tonight.
Don't forget."
David knew that Charles didn't like going to events like this, especially not banquets.
Usually, David would come up with an excuse so Charles wouldn't have to go. But this was different.
Charles needed to attend the banquet so that he could personally apologize to President Xu.
Considering what had happened, they needed to show how sincere they were in their apology.
Besides, David also didn't want their efforts to be in vain.
In reality, this project wasn't anything major. Charles could just as easily have let it go. However, the
leaked documents had already gotten the attention of the public. Everyone was now watching closely. If
they didn't handle this properly, their other partners and investors might lose their confidence and trust
in the company. So even though Charles didn't want to, he had to attend the banquet tonight, if only to
assure their partners' confidence in them.
"President Lu, don't worry. President Xu owes me a favor. I can go with you tonight. I'm sure he
wouldn't make things hard for you when he sees me," Leila offered. Charles quickly glanced at her.
He stared at Leila, lost in thought.
Leila was a little embarrassed being stared at by Charles like that. She lifted a hand to softly touch her
cheek and put on a soft smile before speaking, "President, why are you staring at me like that? Is there
something on my face?"
Leila could tell that Charles was impressed by her and that he just didn't want to tell her.
Leila knew this was huge progress, but she also knew not to take it too far. She knew that if she did,
she would only drive Charles away. This time she was going to take it slow, and wait for that one day
when Charles would finally see her in a different light.
"Leila, you did a good job. Also, thank you for accompanying me to the banquet tonight," Charles said
to Leila.
"No problem, President Lu. If there's nothing else, I should get back to work now," Leila said calmly.
She was on cloud nine but tried her best to hide her excitement. Then she left the office.
After Leila left, David asked Charles in confusion, "President Lu, Leila really impressed me today. I
mean, how does she know President Xu?"
"Who's behind the leak?" Charles interrupted. His face darkened.
"It's the new secretary. She said it was a mistake. I've fired her just in case, and Alice will take over her
job."
David was the person Charles trusted most in the company. So David had the power to decide on huge
things without even consulting Charles. Thus, he didn't really have to report to Charles that he had fired
a secretary.
"A new secretary?" Charles murmured to himself, lost in thought.
"President Lu, why? What's the matter?" David asked upon seeing the confusion on Charles' face.
"Are you sure about that?" Charles asked David.
He didn't really expect David to give him an answer. There was just a lot going on.
However, Charles didn't want to believe that these were all just coincidences.
"Yes, I'm sure, President Lu," David answered. He was confused as he didn't know why Charles was
questioning him like this.
He knew Charles wouldn't get suspicious over nothing. Something must have happened that led to this.
