Chapter 7: Assessment
Xavier pulled her off the bed, his face suddenly sneaked back into the dark frown Bonnie was almost getting familiar with.
“You did so well. Make sure to continue doing your part and do not let Rowan see any stain, ok?”
Bonnie tried to speak but it seemed like a lump was suddenly growing in her throat. She nodded instead.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier was still holding her, the place giving her the heat she needed to survive even for eternity.
Bonnie wondered if Xavier could feel the same way as she was feeling or maybe she was just having those stupid feelings because Xavier was hot?
“Can we go?” He asked but he didn’t wait for a reply before he started towards the door, pulling Bonnie slightly behind him.
Bonnie looked downcast throughout until they were almost at the hall.
“Smile Bonnie, that’s the secret,” he whispered before the door opened and they walked in.
Bonnie smiled and wretched free from Xavier. She found her way to Rowan who was already making his way towards her.
“I’m sorry cousin, I’m sorry I couldn’t believe you,” Rowan offered, pulling her into a bear hug.
He pulled back after a while, “I’m sorry for worrying you so much!” Bonnie sobbed quietly
Rowan sighed and wiped away the tears that lingered on her cheek, “Xavier is really taking good care of you. I couldn’t recognize my sister.”
Bonnie laughed. Soft and enchanting, one that Xavier had never heard, well, from her. It was unlike Gwen. They seemed so different, yet so the same.
How was it possible that there was an Omega somewhere that resembled her beta mate? Something of such had never happened since all his born days.
“Come,” Rowan saif as he gently led her to the high table. He made her sit beside her.
Bonnie looked up at the elders of Xavier. Xavier has told her their names because she was supposed to avoid them so they wouldn’t notice she wasn’t the real Gwen.
They sat by Xavier’s left side while his elders were to the other. Augustine was next to him. His plain expression was uneasy to read. He has been known for his soft and gentle behaviour. And he also doesn’t act so harshly. Very intelligent as Elixir would put it but very cheeky.
The next was Marcus. He was the calm of them all. The Alpha that everyone loved and yet feared. No one knew why but well, his physique could be the reason. He has a large mark stretched across his face. It extended from the side of his left cheek, towards his eyes, stopping briefly over his eyes to continue over his brow.
The next was Philip. He was reckless and easy to show his feelings. Elixir said he had once fought with Xavier for his position. And well, in this case, he was an easy target. Philip could have kidnapped Gwen to make Xavier suffer, it was very easy but Bonnie wasn’t sure.
The next was Cindy, the only daughter of Elder Adam that died recently. She was easygoing and didn’t really associate with others.
One of them could have been involved with kidnapping Gwen. The reason was cleared. They were all Alpha’s who would love to rule like Xavier. If Bonnie’s father had submitted to his regency, he would have been allowed to be one of his elders too, at the most.
“It was so beautiful. Paris was,” Rowan said and laughed. He looked up at Xavier, ” When are you bringing Gwen to the city?”
Xavier picked his cup of wine, ” Soon, whenever she’s ready to go. I’m in the middle of a business here and my wife has refused to leave me alone,” he looked over at Bonnie and caught her staring. He winked at her before he gulped down the content of the wine.
“Yes, I remember she was coming here when she got attacked. At least I forgot, who took her?”
” Brook,” Philip interrupted quickly.
Bonnie looked at him quickly. The main culprit will always be the one to mention names. It was to direct the attention away from them as the real one.
“Brook?” Rowan brow raised beside Gwen, “Brook Marrow?”
“Yes,” Cindy said, “He laid ambush for her. It was probably his way of getting back at Xavier.”
Bonnie’s hand formed a fist beside her, the blood rushed to her head and tears stung her eyes. The people were lying against her father and she couldn’t even do anything about it.
“Where the fuck is he?” Rowan seemed angry now.
” Where?” Marcus said, amazingly, ” In the prison of course. His daughter has also been killed.”
Rowan looked at Xavier, ” I will love to see him!”
Bonnie whipped her head towards Rowan quickly. She touched her hand, forcing him to look at him, “Can it be later?”
Rowan beheld the tears on Bonnie’s cheeks, “Yes, I’m so sorry dear cousin. I didn’t know all you passed through and I pulled that kind of stunt.”
The tears flowed freely from her face. Bonnie felt hurt. The pain of sitting around a table where her parents have been lied against was overwhelming for her. Bonnie couldn’t stop crying.
To Rowan, he would think she was crying because of the incident. Well, she was crying because of it but it was because her parents were wrongly accused of it all.
“When are Gwen’s parents arriving?” Augustine asked as he sipped his wine.
Rowan took Bonnie’s hand in an instance needed to console her, he looked up at him, “Tomorrow. They are leaving for Korea. They only wanted to stop by. And oh, my wedding is in a week’s time.”
” Wow! Congratulations!” Marcus cheered.
Rowan looked over at Xavier who had been quiet for a while, “You are invited but my cousin is supposed to come some days before.”
Xavier nodded briefly, the wine in his mouth, “No problem. I will look forward to it. Congratulations!”
Rowan smiled and looked back at Bonnie, “You should come and meet my wife before the wedding.”
Bonnie nodded happily, ” I will really love to,” she looked away, and looked at Xavier.
Xavier’s head was bent dejectedly. There was no doubt he was thinking about his mate. He must miss her so much.
If only Bonnie could find his mate, then everything would be settled once and for all.
If only Bonnie could find the easiest way to make Xavier happy, anything to see his smile again.
